Hendrick, Housing Minister in the news traveling from his Westminster home 150 miles to his home home then off 40 miles to see mum and dad. Of course he also has a home in his constituency £2k a month, no wonder he's the Housing Minister, he had plenty of them. His parents have been getting community assistance. How do they expect people to stay put when they won't??

I would not drive 35 miles to aid a relative. I would make arrangements. here we have groups helping. One lady contacted the group from Canada and the relative was helped.

Jenrick made a televised broadcast not to visit relatives. Why should anybody take any notice of what cabinet ministers say? Let's all just find loopholes and do what we want!

Atqui - it's Herefordshire rather than Herts. A somewhat different distance.

Oopsminty, Gagajo
Thank you

I will sort it!!
Even if I send this MP to fetch it for me; it's not that much further out of his way, if he's doing one trip he can do two.

I think some journalists need to investigate whether there were other family or friends, who were nearer to his parents to help them out, thus his journey would not have been essential.

How many houses this man owns is irrelevant, if he can afford them, but wherever he was on lockdown day is where he should have stayed for the whole time-no excuse there at all. He would have been forewarned of the date so could have travelled to his family on the Monday that Boris announced it, and worked from home the whole time there. In my opinion, this is a resignation matter, just as the Scottish Health Minister had to.

I don't think I have ever said this before, but I agree with your last post, quizqueen!

In addition to all the local voluntary groups, local authorities are now setting up emergency response "hubs" for people who are falling between the help that's available. They have been given some funding to help them co-ordinate help.

I suspect they vary between one authority and another. Having been initially quite critical (constructively) of my local council, I'm quite impressed with the systems they've put in place. They've started from scratch and the systems are increasingly coming together. They can be Googled for each area and have Facebook pages.

There is no reason why anybody should need to flout the (admittedly badly written) law - and certainly no reason for a cabinet minister not to set an example, especially as he'd been lecturing others. It's a prime example of an MP in a stronghold constituency (where he claims not to live) feeling entitled to do one thing while the "plebs" have to do something else.
