With Brexit, we are fast becoming another state of the USofA. Some people may think this could be a good thing.......
Others, like me, think it is going to be totally disastrous. Even if USA still had a humanatarian President like Obami, it would be wrong on so many levels, but with the current orange nightmare - to me - it is even more frightening than the current Pandemic.
Thought this summed him up

On the subject of daily press briefing, why do Trump and his team ignore social distancing guidelines? The journalists are sitting apart in their seats but while Trump is speaking his team are sitting literally shoulder to shoulder side stage. Then they each come up to speak and rest their hands where his hands have just been. Boris Johnson and several of his advisors all contracted covid 19 within days of each other. I’m surprised the same hasn’t happened in the White House

I noticed- And I don't understand it either-

Especially the medical experts-

And not one of them appear to be advocates for front line workers-

I don't understand ..

Fauci touches his face often ..

rosecarmel - whilst my son and other small businesses he knows in America have had no support from the government schemes (and apparently the money has now run out), a friend of his who is currently in America on a work visa has had support even though he is British and over there on a temporary basis!

No rhyme or reason to it!

But it's true, all that money for small business is gone, right along with the promises, promised ..

So many never completely recovered from the last crisis- It's remained a barely doable, daily struggle- A struggle that has been made even more difficult without healthcare-

It's all to do with the Americans' love of 'freedom' someone told us on another thread. hmm

I don't understand it myself. I just don't understand it.

Testing is key to reopening the country- As it stands, there is no reliable test in production in the US yet- They're chomping at the bit and clutching at straws- Throwing good money after bad by continuing to purchase tests from China that keep proving to be poor quality and inaccurate- And they are supposedly voting on another stimulus package this week- More cash handouts to millionaires ..

rosecarmel it’s exactly the same in the U.K. It leaves me bewildered.

What really worries me is that he seems likely to win again. Why can only very elderly men stand for election? Trump should be self isolating at his age!

MaizieD : It's all to do with the Americans' love of 'freedom' someone told us on another thread.

Americans' freedom means doing what they want no matter what it does to anyone else. Especially if it makes them money

LullyDully, if Trump wins we lose, and if he loses we lose- There is no winning for the people I'm afraid-

The stimulus packages were bipartisan efforts-

Trump is absolving his responsibility - he's mentioning specifically 3 Democratic states when he tells governors to end the lockdown and he has been encouraging the demonstrators to turn out in their 100s, with their guns. Virginia has been a Democrat state since the 2008 election and is one of those under attack from Trump, especially because the governor is introducing more gun legislation.

At the very bottom of the above image are social services ..

SNAP is the federal food program .. For individuals and families that are food insecure - Look at how little it was given ..

Some of the financial handouts have been paid directly to the banks of the "beneficiaries". The banks have been snaffling that money to pay off outstanding loans.

Shocking article in the Washington Post today about PPP Rosecarmel
BIG companies have circumnavigated the system and sucked all the cash out.
Why am I not surprised?
