Free to read and I hope that everyone takes advantage of it

I have no words...

I agree MaggieMay, but even Jeremy Hunt would have been a far better Prime Minister. He has disagreed with Johnson and Handcock from the beginning on their handling of Covid19. He has talked sense repeatedly on this from the beginning and we all know how rare (and career damaging) it is for a Minister to disagree with the Government.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 12:26:11

TBH

I doubt that there is a single Tory on this forum who could say that they have ever read a more damning account of government failure.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 12:28:58

A fit and well Prime Minister MISSED 5 COBRA MEETINGS!

Think about it. What on Earth would a prime minister be doing that was more important than the countries security.

It is a fundamental duty.

Calendargirl Sun 19-Apr-20 12:33:02

How do you know he’s fit and well WWM2?

Yogadatti Sun 19-Apr-20 12:34:35

I don’t think it matters on political slant....I always vote conservative, but am appalled by the governments bad handling of this......

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 12:37:32

How do you know he wasn’t calender?

What nonsense look at the dates!

It must really grate on the left that Boris is more popular than ever after his spell in hospital, the most popular Tory PM ever.

Its just Labour and the left trying to bring down Boris and his cabinet and ultimately delay / stop Brexit.

As for one poster thinking he should be prosecuted for manslaughter how ridiculous and if as one poster said her daughter had to wear a 10p plastic bag on her head well if they were true it would have been front page on all the lefty papers.

GrannyLaine Sun 19-Apr-20 12:54:32

EllanVannin I don't understand your post.
A group of corona viruses include the common cold.
But this one is a new strain, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome related corona virus 2 now referred to as "Novel Covid19" It is known to be "slippery" in as much as it can change its characteristics, which makes it far more dangerous and there is no general acquired immunity to it as yet. It will make finding a vaccine enormously difficult.

trisher Sun 19-Apr-20 13:02:41

Firecracker123 what sort of a world are you living in? The PM was cared for and possibly owes his life to a nurse from Portugal and all you can go on about is Brexit.
As for the use of bin liners there was a photo on the news a week or so ago showing nurses wearing bin liners with holes cut for their head and arms because no other PPE was available, so I see no reason to doubt the head covering.
As for Boris and popularity, he reminds me of "Where's Wally?" I believe he's popular as well and like Boris is hard to find.

GillT57 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:07:58

I bet Firecracker is sitting at home knitting matinee jackets for the forthcoming Johnson infant, after all, it is far better than facing the truth, even if it does involve inferring that other posters, with family in the front line, are exaggerating or even telling lies just to discredit the most popular Tory leader ever grin

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:10:53

So the delivery from Turkey of life saving PPE isn’t going to arrive today after all.

Why am I not surprised?

The country was ready to hold off criticism to give the government space and time to get its act together but the government simply isn’t up to it.

I’m glad the gloves are beginning to come off

Firecracker123 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:20:55

I see the usual sarcastic left leaning posters are out in force now a joint effort it seems to try and make fun of other GN posters who you don't agree with how childish and pathetic. Some posters must have sad lives.

Dinahmo Sun 19-Apr-20 13:22:34

Firecracker It doesn't grate, it doesn't make us angry that BJ is so popular. Speaking for myself, I'm gobsmacked that he is.
I've never understood how these Eton and Oxbridge educated men are so popular with the blue collar workers who surely can see that the right wing do not care about them.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:24:56

By the second week in February Johnson and government were absolutely aware of the gravity facing the U.K. and yet we chose to send 122000 sets of PPE to China!

Astounding that Johnson didn’t think of prioritising the issue until March

vegansrock Sun 19-Apr-20 13:25:13

Let’s face it, Tory voters on here probably voted for Farage as well, supported May, and now have transferred their adoration onto Johnson. As such they choose to
believe he is doing a marvellous job, he is second only to the almighty, any word against him is akin to treason, any criticism is just from jealousy, , and threads like this should be instantly deleted.

GillT57 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:29:30

No firecracker, I don't have a sad life, I am fortunate that I have not lost any friends or family to this disaster. Please stop with the silly leftie jibes, I am not, have never been one. Now, I must get on with my busy life, and leave you to look for insults where none were intended. Maybe you left them in the same place as your sense of humour. grin

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:31:08

The days are counting down to 100000 tests a day by the end of April.

Anyone like to guess the excuse that will be given when the deadline comes and goes?

growstuff Sun 19-Apr-20 13:34:47

I don't have a sad life either. Since when has valid criticism been childish and pathetic?

I try to maintain a sense of humour about this dystopia and the blinkered people operating in it.

Luckygirl Sun 19-Apr-20 13:35:02

This is not about Brexit - it is about a PM who did not take the threat seriously and left us all in danger.

Any government of left or right who did this would be open to censure, and quite rightly.

growstuff Sun 19-Apr-20 13:36:20

Whitwave It was probably the Easter Bunny's fault. It made a mistake and left Tigger off the list.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 13:52:28

Tigger has tested out one excuse saying that not enough nhs staff are coming forward for testing. Oh Tigger of little brain do buck up.

Urmstongran Sun 19-Apr-20 14:02:17

Let’s remember though the simple and undeniable TRUTH IS that the NHS are responsible for purchasing medicines and supplies. They have a procurement department. So if there is any shortage of of anything it is due to the NHS procurement department.

This is the same department that pay way over the odds for many items e.g £5 for for a packet to aspirin costing pennies in a supermarket Apportion blame and responsibility to the correct persons!

I think Public Health England will get a huge shake up after all this. No wonder Boris has put a new Minister in charge of procuring PPE!

Urmstongran Sun 19-Apr-20 14:04:25

* distributing PPE

coggie Sun 19-Apr-20 14:11:44

1. Why do people refer to him by his first name as if he was some sort of cuddly toy?

2. Why did he fail to attend 5 Cobra meetings?

3. Why did he become ill?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 19-Apr-20 14:19:14

ug nope wrong.

The simple and undeniable truth is that the government is solely responsible in times of crises.

They were strongly advise in 2017 of the supplies including PPE that needed to be in storage should something like this happen. THE GOVERNMENT CHOSE TO IGMORE THE ADVICE.

The NHS is NOT RESPONSIBLE for emergency planning of this sort. Yes day to day procurement but that is all.

The government has a chance to redeem itself in February, BUT DID NOTHING.

The blame lies entirely with the Tory government.
