We are wrestling a mugger to the ground and this is the dangerous part. Together, we can do it. Just hold tight for a little longer British people.

I’ve missed his enthusiasm, his optimism, his confidence and his ability to galvanise us for the common good.

He is arranging cross party talks to bring us all together.

Welcome back that man!

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 18:20:59

Oh Urm - you do make me laugh grin

Galaxy Mon 27-Apr-20 18:25:09

The majority of countries have had to deal with those restrictions, I so hate the war comparisons, so distracting and pointless.

grumppa Mon 27-Apr-20 18:27:00

Of course I am pleased that Johnson has recovered from Covid-19, and that he is able to get back to doing his job. This cabinet, like any cabinet, needs to be properly led.

And I am prepared to forget any mistakes that may have been made in the early weeks, provided his government gets it right from now on.

But I thought his come-back address this morning was a bit too much head of house encouraging the lads to get out on the touch line and support the team in the rugger cup final. Worse still, I was reminded of Macbeth: a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Deeds now, please, not just words

galaxy ^ looking at the success in countries such as NZ, Greece^

My friend who is Greek and lives in Athens tells me they still have 2 more weeks of lockdown to go. How do you define "success in Greece"?

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 18:30:46

This might give you a clue - scroll down the page till you get to the UK. Scroll down a lot further until you get to Greece coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

Jabberwok Mon 27-Apr-20 18:31:47

Think you need a re read S.C! 28th June 2017 MP's voted whether to lift the cap on public sector pay. Tories who voted against the government in order to lift the cap included Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock!
The cap was eventually lifted under Mrs Mays government!

Sparklefizz Mon 27-Apr-20 18:34:04

My point is that Greece is still in lockdown.

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 18:35:40

Scroll right down that article until you get to ‘Full list of MPs who voted against the pay rise’ - and then scroll down further till you get to Boris Johnson.

Galaxy Mon 27-Apr-20 18:37:01

The number of deaths.

Urmstongran Mon 27-Apr-20 18:38:08

SirChenjin ???

I feel super patriotic today!
????????????????????????????????????????

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 18:39:45

Awww - you look just like Widdy with those little flags!

How’s life in Spain? Looks like you’re past the worst of it thankfully

Urmstongran Mon 27-Apr-20 18:42:21

I look out at all the Spanish flags fluttering from apartments, on balconies next to the beautiful bougainvillea & the Spanish observing very strict lockdown on this our 7th week - and yet clapping & cheering EVERY night at 8pm to say thank you to the front liners as the police drive around, blue lights flashing, officers in masks & gloves saluting the neighbourhood back. It’s very emotional every evening. They are happy to be kept safe and to do the right thing.
??

Callistemon Mon 27-Apr-20 18:45:08

SirChenjin

Do you believe the figures that other countries present?

China, India?
I doubt their figures are at all accurate.
Watching all those people deserting the Indian cities on crowded buses for their villages where there are poor medical facilities surely would make anyone wonder about the accuracy.

Lucca Mon 27-Apr-20 18:48:23

Urmstongran why are you so keen on brexit when you spend so much time in Spain ? I have never understood that.

trisher Mon 27-Apr-20 18:52:11

Look at the songs the Italians are singing and then think about what may happen as we come out of lockdown!

paddyanne Mon 27-Apr-20 19:12:01

Cath Calderwood wasn't JUST scottish medical officer ,she held perhaps still holds several posts in the English NHS .She was on several high profile enquiries including the Morecambe Bay tragedy .NOT that I'm excusing her ..I know how it feels when you have Mp's and other foreign sources telling you how to run your country...not nice is it? We get 85% of the Commons ruling us EVERY DAY ....most of them know begger all about Scotland and care even less .Welcome to our world !

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 19:16:13

Paddy - remember the Scottish people voted to stay part of the UK?

Callistemon no of course I don’t believe all of the figures, some of those countries have absolutely no way of reporting them. I’m inclined to believe that Greece isn’t as bad as the UK though.

Urmstongran Mon 27-Apr-20 19:32:52

We bought the little apartment in Spain because we love it here Lucca and always hoped to spend some of our retirement out here, enjoying the warmth and the lifestyle.

Brexit?

I voted to Leave the bureaucracy of the EU. I don’t want to be ruled by them.

But I love Europe!

What’s so difficult to understand? Even Italy is mightily fed up of the EU. Rifts are becoming more apparent every week.

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 19:43:04

But you will be ruled by them when you’re out there - so why not choose one of the many other countries in the world which are completely free from the EU ‘bureaucracy’?

katie1 Mon 27-Apr-20 19:49:00

I am relieved Boris is back. He has such charisma and confidence that makes you believe he is in charge and will get us all through this pandemic.

trisher Mon 27-Apr-20 19:53:33

Ah dear! If only charisma and confidence were all it took to run a government. And even then I can think of people with more of both than Boris.

May7 Mon 27-Apr-20 19:54:44

Charisma??? Boris really shock

Grany Mon 27-Apr-20 19:59:20

Scandalous shortage of PPE now Panorama Governments fault

SueDonim Mon 27-Apr-20 20:25:00

It’s interesting how some Scots cannot rise above politics during this crisis when Nicola Sturgeon herself is taking a very different - and much more adult - view.
