We are wrestling a mugger to the ground and this is the dangerous part. Together, we can do it. Just hold tight for a little longer British people.

I’ve missed his enthusiasm, his optimism, his confidence and his ability to galvanise us for the common good.

He is arranging cross party talks to bring us all together.

Welcome back that man!

Panorama

I hope every Tory in Britain is watching #Panorama on #BBC1. A Pandemic deemed the biggest security threat to Britain for yrs, yet no PPE gowns, visors, swabs or body bags bought & 20million respirators missing. Meanwhile govt lied to cover tracks as medics died. #BorisTheButcher

So glad Boris is back ..... now to sort out these people who are travelling unnecessary ..... holding parties etc. I want to get through this.

Grany
I've started a new thread on Panorama . Think this one needs a space all of it's own shock

trisher Mon 27-Apr-20 21:02:13

petition asking for an inquiry into how this has been dealt with here www.marchforchange.uk/coronavirus_inquiry?recruiter_id=119879

Jabberwok Mon 27-Apr-20 21:09:20

This thread started so well but has been hijacked by the usual crowd! Oh well nice while it lasted but now time to give it a miss and leave all you armchair generals to sort it out with your instant solutions!

Grany Mon 27-Apr-20 21:34:45

Thanks May7 Yes this would need a new thread

SirChenjin Mon 27-Apr-20 21:38:08

It seems to be so difficult for some of you to hear any criticism of Boris - the way you react you’d think posters had been tearing strips off your husband or children. Try and see the broad range of opinions as a positive thing rather than talking about the usual crowd and armchair generals.

It's the armchair epidemiologists I find hard to take!

Starblaze Mon 27-Apr-20 22:19:02

Glad he is back, even though I hate his face.

Definitely not sneering, well maybe a tiny bit

Missed the briefing at work, will.check in tomorrow. Hope it's a good sign things will improve soon

Dollymc1 Mon 27-Apr-20 22:25:55

And yet it's the actual epidemioligists whose advice has been more than questionable , they were aware of this pandemic at the beginning of February and chose to not replenish PPI stock. So really it's a national disgrace, something we should all be considering
Cummings himself was one of the 'armchair epidemiologists '

Eloethan Tue 28-Apr-20 00:04:00

Jabberwock Has it ever occurred to you that some might see you as one of the "usual crowd"? It is quite presumptuous to think you and your "crowd" are entitled to express a point of view but others do not have that same entitlement.

Downing Street (almost certainly Cummings) have banned journalists from The Sunday Times from asking questions at the briefing sessions because that paper had the temerity to criticise the government's mishandling of the crisis.

If we are to preserve press freedom surely the other journalists should walk out in solidarity?

I have posted the below on the "Panorama" thread, but feel it equally applies on this one:-

Some of us on this forum have advocated greater government spending in numerous sectors over many years. However, that was not what the electorate have voted for in the last decade, as austerity was the message they accepted.

It was not until March this year that this government decided to lay to rest the great God austerity and came up with a budget that could have been penned by John McDonald himself.

Sadly it will take time to turn around a decade of austerity, for increased spending has to be transformed into the minds those managing Britains economic sectors, and that then has to be brought through into production.

Many of those that now moan have had an alternative political option on offer over the last ten years, but that route electorally they decided not to take.

But you will be ruled by them when you’re out there - so why not choose one of the many other countries in the world which are completely free from the EU ‘bureaucracy’?

Apologies for late reply I couldn’t send anything last night as the WiFi signal was poor.

Thing is, SCj we bought 16y ago. And I’m not bothered about living anywhere as a visitor where the EU is in charge as I’m not paying anything! Big difference. It’s a holiday home.

Actually Malaga suits us because it’s not too far away. I used to come for weekends occasionally when I was working!

SirChenjin Tue 28-Apr-20 09:03:32

You’re not paying for goods and services while you’re living under EU ‘bureaucracy’ in Spain? What about when you’re no longer an EU citizen - what other things will you have to pay for that you don’t pay for now?

lemongrove Tue 28-Apr-20 09:05:06

It’s no business of anyone on this forum why a member enjoys a holiday home abroad and it certainly should never be used in a snipey way.
It’s a lovely part of Spain Urmstongran smile

SirChenjin Tue 28-Apr-20 09:08:30

The only person sniping is you lemon

I asked Urm a polite question, she was happy and kind enough to reply. I’m sure she doesn’t need your input telling other posters what is and isn’t their business - she has her own voice and is perfectly able to use it well.

lemongrove Tue 28-Apr-20 09:13:07

Your snipey posts on every thread do not do you any favours SirC and it’s extremely rude of you to interrogate a member on here because you personally hate the idea of Brexit, or indeed, a Conservative government.

Lucca Tue 28-Apr-20 09:14:26

Lemongrove. I also asked urmstongran a reasonable question, why is that “sniping?”
And Urmstongran Answered it politely so I don’t understand the need for your intervention

lemongrove Tue 28-Apr-20 09:15:28

I shouldn’t need to tell you that it isn’t your business.....you should realise it all by yourself.

SirChenjin Tue 28-Apr-20 09:15:40

Your feedback has been noted and duly ignored lemon

lemongrove Tue 28-Apr-20 09:17:25

Using the holiday home in Spain as an excuse to berate a forum member for choosing to support leaving the EU is beneath contempt.

lemongrove Tue 28-Apr-20 09:18:40

Up to you SirC...but every other member on here can read it and make their own minds up about what you have written.

SirChenjin Tue 28-Apr-20 09:18:50

As are your posts.

We too are glad that Boris is back. He rallies everyone round just like Winston Churchill did during the war. He is enthusiastic and rousing. We must continue to do what he says, he knows how serious this virus is.
