Tweet from Lord Sugar

I don't know how many times I've read that the government is "doing its best". Quite frankly, its best is rubbish. It's what parents say to a football team of six year olds when they're losing.

Lord Sugar didn't write that Tweet.

He retweeted it, commenting "I agree with this".

There are currently 9500 follow up comments. I can't pretend to have read them all, but the ones I did all disagreed with him.

There is very little hope, under the 'direction' of the tory government.

Lord Sugar isn't my favourite person either, but there are lots of people I dislike and any of them can sometimes say something sensible that I can agree with.

I agree that the press - especially certain people named in the tweet - only seems to want to publicise doom and gloom. We can do that for ourselves. Yes, we need the truth but we need both the bad truth and the good.

When Pandora's box was opened sickness, death and a host of evils were released. The only thing left was what is usually translated as Hope. That's what we all need.

Please can someone tell me some good news,

going back to work isn't one of them, nor is the death rate, or the basted R factor and this talk of small children going back to school isn't one of them either. Now Boris losing weight is but that is all.

I agree that the media is negative and needs to focus on how many people recover- which is very, very, very high. They can also post on the positive things, Captain Tom is one example, but many others are not reported. Rishi Sunak has been praised for his composure and confidence.

However, the government do have to be held accountable for their actions. Macron, Merkel and Sturgeon haven't caused confusion the way the UK government has.

I want realism, whether it is positive or negative.

We are all different - even when faced with terminal illness, some people would prefer not to known and remain in blissful ignorance, even if that means that others must lie to them, while others want the stark truth no matter what.

Why should our individual approach to the pandemic and/or how it is handled by our 'leaders' be any different?
Who is to say that one approach is better than the other?

Who the hell is Sugar to rule on what "we" want or need?

We could carry on and ignore the “shouty people” though.
And discuss the Re-tweet about the negative Press and tv news.

buffy I started a thread about the sniping media and their constant hectoring a couple of weeks ago and it was taken over by the shouty posters. If any of the journalists or posters on here could do any better...and without the benefit of hindsight...I’d pay good money to see them try! I couldn't care less about who tweeted it (I don't like Alan Sugar) but in this case, I happen to agree with the tweet.

Is that the same Alan Sugar whose previous tweets include racist, sexist and homophobic ‘jokes’ and retweeted claims that covid was made in a lab and it was all a conspiracy?
