I can’t say I’m a massive fan of Lord Sugar but I find myself agreeing with the sentiments in his tweet.
I too, am sick to death of all the negativity re: the handling of Covid19 by the Press and TV News.
This Pandemic had been a Global disaster but we are going to come through it and the Government are, obviously, doing their very best in unprecedented recent times.

I agree. I'm sick of people complaining about Boris Johnson. He's been Prime Minister for less than a year, had all the palaver of getting Brexit sorted out (due to opposition all the time from remainers who lost the vote), then he's had all this Covid-19 to deal with - which in itself has been a MASSIVE task. He's been in hospital, is still recovering, has become a father again. All of this has been a HUGE amount for him to deal with. I think he's bloody marvellous.

Why can't we have some positive views for a change..........

MaizieD Sat 16-May-20 17:41:25

Oh dear...

MayBee70 Sat 16-May-20 17:43:13

confused

Orangerose Sat 16-May-20 17:43:17

Completely agree. SalsaQueen spot on!
Well said.

MayBee70 Sat 16-May-20 17:44:51

SalsaQueen; you can be I charge of positive news then. Can you tell me your positive news for today?

SalsaQueen Sat 16-May-20 17:51:15

MayBee70.

We're less restricted than a week ago.

The numbers of people getting the virus are fewer than a week ago.

Some businesses are now returning to work.

Anything else?

SirChenjin Sat 16-May-20 17:51:45

Is that the same Alan Sugar whose previous tweets include racist, sexist and homophobic ‘jokes’ and retweeted claims that covid was made in a lab and it was all a conspiracy? Anyone interested in reading his rather robust responses to those suggesting he might want to take the claims down can view them here - www.google.co.uk/amp/s/m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/amp/entry/lord-sugar-coronavirus-conspiracy-twitter_uk_5eabe9a3c5b65156135bc092/

If I’m going to look for positivity it certainly won’t be from this odious man.

SalsaQueen Sat 16-May-20 17:56:01

I couldn't care less about who tweeted it (I don't like Alan Sugar) but in this case, I happen to agree with the tweet.

SirChenjin Sat 16-May-20 17:59:17

You couldn’t care less that he’s someone who posts what sexist, racist and homophobic jokes?

Buffybee Sat 16-May-20 18:04:27

SirChenjin! Calm down dear!
Not Lord Sugars words or thought but he re-tweeted them and quite a few people are agreeing with them.

MayBee70 Sat 16-May-20 18:15:07

Woohoo; only 468 people died today [or was it yesterday?].

SirChenjin Sat 16-May-20 18:26:03

I couldn’t care less if Sugar said them or thought them. Was there no-one else who doesn’t exhibit racist/sexist/homophobic views whose tweets you could have shared?

Buffybee Sat 16-May-20 18:41:44

You have actually said nothing about the contents of the tweet SirChenjin but are just raving on about Alan Sugar.
I think we get it!
You don’t like him!
Your turn......

SirChenjin Sat 16-May-20 18:48:32

No-one is raving - don’t be silly.

I refuse to dignify a man with such offensive views with my comments. Was there no-one else with less revolting views generally you could have shared? You didn’t reply to that question.

EllanVannin Sat 16-May-20 18:51:31

Don't you like Jews then ?

Mamissimo Sat 16-May-20 18:51:42

buffy I started a thread about the sniping media and their constant hectoring a couple of weeks ago and it was taken over by the shouty posters. If any of the journalists or posters on here could do any better...and without the benefit of hindsight...I’d pay good money to see them try! Thank heavens we haven’t got Jeremy Corbin as PM sitting on his fence!

EllanVannin Sat 16-May-20 18:55:37

Objections to racism, etc but don't mind being anti-Semitic ?
It doesn't make sense.

Buffybee Sat 16-May-20 18:55:43

Well.... SirChenjin!
I couldn’t find anyone else who had re-tweeted the message above and after all, that is what this post is about, THE TWEET not Lord Sugar.
But you carry on, “not” raving about him.

EllanVannin Sat 16-May-20 18:59:11

The man made good after being brought up on a council estate.

I'd take the Huffington Post with a good pinch of salt too !

Buffybee Sat 16-May-20 19:01:08

Mamissimo, I agree with your post entirely.
We could carry on and ignore the “shouty people” though.
And discuss the Re-tweet about the negative Press and tv news.

Buffybee Sat 16-May-20 19:03:16

Very inappropriate MayBee70!

MamaCaz Sat 16-May-20 19:04:57

I want realism, whether it is positive or negative.

We are all different - even when faced with terminal illness, some people would prefer not to known and remain in blissful ignorance, even if that means that others must lie to them, while others want the stark truth no matter what.

Why should our individual approach to the pandemic and/or how it is handled by our 'leaders' be any different?
Who is to say that one approach is better than the other?

Who the hell is Sugar to rule on what "we" want or need?

ineedamum Sat 16-May-20 19:06:30

I agree that the media is negative and needs to focus on how many people recover- which is very, very, very high. They can also post on the positive things, Captain Tom is one example, but many others are not reported. Rishi Sunak has been praised for his composure and confidence.

However, the government do have to be held accountable for their actions. Macron, Merkel and Sturgeon haven't caused confusion the way the UK government has.

Barmeyoldbat Sat 16-May-20 19:06:43

Please can someone tell me some good news,

going back to work isn't one of them, nor is the death rate, or the basted R factor and this talk of small children going back to school isn't one of them either. Now Boris losing weight is but that is all.
