Lazy, lazy Boris

It is mindblowing that this excuse for a PM has not even bothered to read the winter coronavirus report. When Kier Starmer pinned him down in PMQs all he could do was say he was ‘aware’ of it.

He is pathetic..and dangerous.

Boris has not read winter coronavirus report

Bet you anything that ‘madman’ stays popular and gets re-elected!

There's no staying popular about it. He's not popular. If he doesn't resign in early 2021, the Conservatives themselves will oust him.

I don’t know where you get this odd idea from MaizieD?
He’s always been popular ( a Marmite character it’s true, but plenty do love Marmite!)

MaizieD Thu 16-Jul-20 09:14:23

78 seat majority now, Firecracker. Could well be whittled down further. Backbenchers with brains aren't too happy...

MaizieD Thu 16-Jul-20 09:12:23

I think that Firecracker has taken Johnson as a model of a party leader, so thinks that all a leader does is sit on their backside all week when they're not in Parliament...

Firecracker123 Thu 16-Jul-20 09:11:18

Love him or hate him, I actually love him, Boris has a stomping 80 seat majority, Starmer really is irrelevant.

Firecracker123 Thu 16-Jul-20 09:09:34

Starmer and the Labour Party are irrelevant.

Firecracker123 Thu 16-Jul-20 09:08:22

Well excuse me I'm asking about Starmer what does he actually do all week, seems he does nothing but prepare for his moment in the spotlight at PMQs.

Nortsat Thu 16-Jul-20 09:08:05

I knew someone who was in a very senior position at the GLA when Johnson was the elected Mayor of London.

Their view of Johnson then, was that he never read anything (briefings, reports etc) and got himself into a series of difficulties by repeatedly making gaffes and showing poor judgement.
His senior officers then had to spend considerable amounts of their time untangling issues and clearing up the messes Johnson made.
(Incidentally the person I knew is a Conservative supporter).

"^I still don’t gethe cheers us up^"
I guess because he is a buffoon who gets himself out there in a down to earth manner. That might not be what is best for the role of PM but he is enigmatic and draws people in. To be fair he keeps people on their toes wondering what madness is coming next.

Starmer has nothing else to do all week but prepare for PMQs lol.

He does a damn sight more that Johnson, then, who is never prepared for PMQs.

What does Starmer actually do all week I'd love to know.

???Starmer isn’t the PM.

We are talking about the PM.

I’m gutted about that. I liked AN’s questioning style. He wouldn’t let interviewees wriggle of the hook. Shame he’s gone. Probably not ‘woke’ enough for the BBC in its present form.

More likely because Johnson is scared of him.

You're certainly right that Johnson cheers people up, Ug. He's got most of the world laughing at him. And finding it very cheering that Britain is no longer a force to be reckoned with but is like a third rate banana republic led by a madman.

I would be cheered by:
- a leader who takes our plight seriously
- a leader whom is honest
- a proper track and trace system
- a solid plan for dealing with the second wave - prevention and response

I have no faith whatsoever in this government and its handling of the crisis. It is a mirror image of the US - lightweight unsuitable leader with a pack of civil servants and others following in his wake with a shovel to clear up the piles of nonsensical excrement that he sheds.

My life, and yours, and the lives of our families are dependent on reasoned intelligent decisions from dedicated hard-working leaders. All we have is a liar and a cheat, dancing to the tune of his "special" advisor, and doing the absolute minimum.

How did we finish up in this sorry state?

trisher Thu 16-Jul-20 08:50:41

I fail to understand why anyone trusts Boris. I hated Margaret Thatcher and her principles but her dedication and commitment couldn't be questioned. Boris was an amusing and entertaining panellist on HIGNFY but making him PM was ridiculous. As for his illness I suspect the only thing resulting from that is a belief that he is better, stronger and more worthy of survival than the rest of us.
I do like the "Dead Ringers" depiction of him where "Bad Boris"keeps escaping.

growstuff Thu 16-Jul-20 08:49:04

And now the BBC has axed Andrew Neil!

growstuff Thu 16-Jul-20 08:48:12

Buying a handful of loyal supporters a box set of Johnson's TV appearances as an entitled raconteur would have been less damaging for the country.

Johnson's personal ratings have plummeted in the last few weeks. He has surrounded himself with nodding dogs, who must constitute the most talentless cabinet in my memory.

On what basis can you trust him to be discussing precautions in a meaningful way? SAGE has been sidelined now, after so many of them spoke out. The government's response is being led by the Joint Biosecurity Centre, whose agenda and minutes aren't published. There is precious little "science" in any of the announcements being made.

Riverwalk Thu 16-Jul-20 08:47:07

He's even too lazy to make up decent jibes - jokes about Calvin Klein's are as old as the hills. He alludes to Starmer being a lawyer at every opportunity, as though it's something to belittle.

Every time we see Johnson it's obvious that he's winging-it and has no capacity for detail or strategic thinking. He doesn't stand up to scrutiny - he's never been subjected to a detailed interrogation by a serious journalist.

Remember how he flatly refused to be interviewed by Andrew Neil before the election?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 16-Jul-20 08:43:43

ug good oh

Urmstongran Thu 16-Jul-20 08:39:34

He already said he is aware of it.
He does have a Minister at the helm of every department.
He’s not daft - seen as lazy perhaps - but I’m one amongst many who are happy with what he’s doing in very difficult times. He’s had C-19 himself, unlike the majority of us, so he has first hand knowledge of how awful it can be.
I trust him (and the SAGE advisers) to be discussing all the necessary precautions to keep us safe.
