If you're running the country, you're being paid to know what's going on.

He's already contributed to the deaths of 60,000 people. They're predicting 120,000 this winter. POSSIBLY the man in charge should read about it?

I wondered when that argument would come up Urm and nearly added ‘and don’t say it’s because he has others to do that’.

No. He is the PM. It is his duty. This is not an episode of ‘Yes, Prime Minister!’

I commend to you Margaret Thatcher, well any recent prime minister with perhaps the exception of Cameron, all were on top of their brief. All could come to parliament and you would be confident that they knew what they were talking about and there was an element of trust in their statement in which with the odd exception you knew to be true. Even if you disagreed with the thrust of their argument.

Johnson never seems to know anything about what he is asked. Constantly lies, and is not trusted by a large percentage of the population.

It’s a mystery to me why when Boris graduated from Oxford with a degree in Classical Languages and is fluent in several languages, he performs so badly. It’s not just since he was ill, last autumn it was clear that he was just the puppet, blustering his way through with catchy slogans like “Get Brexit done”. He doesn’t seem to care about preparation or the consequences of what he says, that’s someone else’s responsibility.

It’s his lack if responsibility that is his failing, in his private as well as political life that is concerning and it looks to be getting worse week by week, now he is accountable he can’t cope.

Isn’t that because he’s PRIME Minister? He has a team of other Ministers alongside him. If personally he read (fully) every piece of information he’d have no time to eat or sleep!

I don't think it's because he lacks reading skills. It's because he can't be arsed.

You're right, MamaCaz. I saw it reported that when he went on his little holiday to Chevening in February (the holiday during which he missed a COBRA meeting or two about a developing pandemic) civil servants were told to summarise all papers on no more than an A4 sheet as he wouldn't read anything longer.

I'd assumed that that instruction only applied to his holiday period but, who knows, it could be the norm...

Wasn't it reported a while back, when he became PM, that Boris requested simplified, easy-to-read versions of any such reports/documents - or did I dream that?

Perhaps he's having to wait for the the newspapers to publish such a version for him, one that he can understand !

Johnson doesn’t appear to read anything. He leaves that to the grownups.

King Cummings only reads his own stuff as nothing else is worth reading, which means that as King Cummings gets rid of the experts, like the civil servants, the Chiefs of Staff etc, more and more decisions will be made by one person who likes to pretend he is ultra intelligent but is really a sociopath with anarchic tendencies.
