Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

Don't worry about Putin ! He's had more than his fair share of extra maritals! Two grown up children. wife divorced after 30 years of marriage, mistress gave birth to twins in 2019, the list is endless! Probably approved of on here as a few jolly japes, as obviously the childish pathetic comments about Boris by supposedly intellectual women would never apply to anyone else even when totally justified, particularly Putin!

I'm absolutely baffled by this post, Jabberwok. What has Putin got to do with all this; apart from the fact that he's pulling Boris and Donald's strings?

Are you labouring under some extremely weird misconception about leftwingers that leads you to think that they approve of Putin?

Because if you do, I fear greatly for your comprehension skills...

He’ll be stood in an empty classroom telling everyone how safe it is for people to send their children back to school. Of course, in a few weeks time, when several schools have been closed down due to teachers being infected, he’ll be copying Nicola Sturgeon and mandating mask wearing in schools.

Wonder if having security guards for the rest of his life will cramp Johnson’s style somewhat

If it didn't cramp John Major (when still in office!) it's not gonna stop Johnson.

The Independent claims he intends to step down, blaming after effects from Covid - so no intention of accepting responsibility for the utter shambles he has thrown us all in sad

I'm surprised that those who are less than impressed with Boris seem to believe everything they read online/in the papers.

The father-in-law of Mr Johnson’s top aide Dominic Cummings was reported to have told a holidaymaker that Mr Johnson was still struggling badly with the after-effects of the Covid-19 infection that saw him taken into intensive care in April.

So some holidaymaker goes to the press with details of a conversation which may or may not have happened.

I'm amazed at a media that will launch headlines based solely on the word of someone who allegedly had a chat with Cummings' father-in-law.

I'm also amazed at people who seem to believe anything as long as it suits their agenda.

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 15:16:35

Well, was it The Sun had a front page exclusive saying that the Queen supported brexit so nothing surprises me any more.

I don't think that any of us who have commented on this story really believe it to be true. We're just playing with it... (and hoping it 'might' be true..)

You're taking us a bit too seriously, Oopsminty

I predict that Boris will resign soon, citing damage to his health by his ‘being near death’ with Covid, and doing so for the sake of his young family.

In other news, polls showing Keir Starmer more popular that Boris.

Oooh look!

Ah well , of course they didn’t take their own baby. Or, maybe they don’t have one at all. Perhaps the couple in Scotland are doubles. The tent is probably for the baby at night so it doesn’t wake them. The dog is left with the baby as a guard.

Oh, for goodness sake !

???

Jabberwok Tue 25-Aug-20 15:43:19

How did Boris walk away from the leadership contest post Brexit?!! He was already leader by then?! Putin? In reply to Maybee70 post referring to him!

Callistemon Tue 25-Aug-20 15:45:28

She's left it a bit late, they've been back at school for a couple of weeks.

Furret Tue 25-Aug-20 15:53:10

I never thought I’d say this but thanks to the Daily Mail for tracking down Boris Johnson to a clifftop Scottish cottage, with some naff sort of yurt clinging on gamely in the garden. I thought it must be the chilliest place the prime minister had ever secluded himself, until I remembered he hid in a fridge during the general election.

Still, you’ll have been aware for some time now that Johnson is on holiday. The most nuanced rejoinder this deserves is: lol, a holiday from what?

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 16:01:18

I meant after winning the referendum. There was something very strange about the way he suddenly decided not to stand.

MaizieD Tue 25-Aug-20 16:02:31

Putin? In reply to Maybee70 post referring to him!

So she did, Jabberwok, but why all the arrant nonsense about Gnet Putin lovers?

varian Tue 25-Aug-20 16:02:50

Didn't have something to do with his "friend" Gove (metaphorically) stabbing him in the back?

MaizieD Tue 25-Aug-20 16:04:49

I don't think he was ever in the cottage or the tent, Furret. That's just a red herring. A dead cat to distract from the exam results.

He was in the Russian's luxury yacht all the time... grin

MayBee70 Tue 25-Aug-20 16:05:23

Well, maybe he should learn from what is happening in Scotland. Just as he should have learned something from what was happening in Italy and Spain earlier in the year. At least when a Sturgeon acts she acts decisively and people know where they stand. She also, each day, states what the Covid rules actually are In Scotland. I haven’t got a clue what they are here and, before anyone says google them I have, and I still don’t know what I can and can’t do in my area,

Greece has my bet.

Oopsminty Tue 25-Aug-20 16:07:09

until I remembered he hid in a fridge during the general election.

But he didn't.

I was watching ITV breakfast show and they had their journalist stood outside, awaiting Boris' arrival.

The journalist pointed to a small building saying that was where Boris would be for the photo op. Which of course ITV weren't invited to.

Boris arrived, went in the building which turned out to be a fridge.

Which it wasn't really

However, good old Piers Morgan began his usual ranting about Boris hiding from him in a 'fridge'

Our wonderful media leapt on it

I just like things to be as true as possible

Apologies to MaizieD, I'll not take anything you say seriously in future.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 25-Aug-20 16:10:16

Oopsminty, I take it then that you are not a Johnson/government supporter.

If it did happen by next Feb...meant to add, I would be pleased if Jeremy Hunt took over at that time.?

Hunt does seem to be keeping quiet after a few words criticising Hancock.

I wonder what's going on in private WhatApp groups. The trouble at the moment is that there are few opportunities for huddled meetings in Westminster. Meetings are online and could be leaked.

biba70 Tue 25-Aug-20 17:48:50

Wwmk2 boom boom

Dinahmo Tue 25-Aug-20 18:02:17

Apparently Tory Party members when asked why they voted for Johnson rather than Hunt said that they knew that Hunt was more intelligent but that he was boring and they voted for Johnson because he wasn't boring.
