Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

The DM had an hilarious report this morning that he, Carrie and baby were camping up there and were forced to flee because of the midgies.
The online version seems to have disappeared now and this instead:

They must have nanny, bodyguards, other staff in tow. Where are they staying?

JenniferEccles Fri 21-Aug-20 17:57:25

You have to feel sorry for him!

He obviously felt he just HAD to holiday here but honestly, Scotland in August? He must have heard of the famous midges to say nothing of the weather!

I wonder if they are debating whether they DARE fly out to that Med villa offered to them by a friend?!

The temptation would be almost overwhelming wouldn’t it?!?

oh my- this is just

'EXCLUSIVE: Get off my land! Furious farmer reveals Boris Johnson 'climbed over his fence to set up 8ft tent WITHOUT permission and lit a dangerous campfire before fleeing Highlands holiday cottage'... leaving his MINDERS to clean up

Farmer Kenny Cameron was livid after discovering PM had gone onto his land to camp without his say-so
He told MailOnline 'Usually if people want to go inside a fenced area, they ask for permission first'
Boris Johnson's minders have apologised and told the irate farmer they believed land was okay to use
Prime Minister and his family holidayed in property called The Old School House in remote Scottish peninsula
Property cost £1,500 a week to hire, but needs a £200 deposit and has honesty box for using the phone
Mr Johnson's group is understood to have left the hideaway last night and is on his way back to work
Number 10 Downing Street is 620 miles away, which the PM had been due to go back into on Monday
The holiday house is in Applecross, which warned visitors to say away during the coronavirus pandemic
It has recently endured a different type of invasion when millions of midges swarmed on the area
Location was also the spot where a BBC 2 reality TV show called the Great Escape filmed in 2009'

I am not sure why you are so concerned about the LibDem leadership Jabber as you do not come across as very liberal or democratic.

But since you ask, Ed Davey was appointed acting leader after Jo Swinson lost her seat in December. There would have been a leadership election in the spring but because of coronavirus it was postponed until the summer.

Most of us have now voted, either for Ed Davey or Layla Moran. The result should be declared in a week or so.

Jabberwok Fri 21-Aug-20 18:16:11

In answer to your question., Indecision in the early days of Covid, but I don't think any other party would have done any better. No problem with peoples personal lives! Brexit???
Nothing else!

Much more, if you chose to pay attention Jabber

Oh dear Boris seems to think it is OK to climb over a fence and pith his tent on someone else's land! Really Priti will have to have a word with him about boundaries and illegal immigrants.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 21-Aug-20 18:49:48

For all his faults - and they are too numerous to mention - surely his fiancée is entitled to a short holiday with Boris and the new baby? I doubt if he would be making much sense if he was in London right now. I agree that he is an appalling choice as PM but he was elected democratically. We just have to pray that with a reasonable Leader once more, the Labour Party can put up a decent opposition. Basically, I reckon Boris was only elected for his hair and mad, bumbling manner.

I noticed that it looked as though the cottage was surrounded by a hedge. I don't believe for one minute that he has stayed in that tent. For a start, it's on a slope not far from a cliff edge and I've heard the weather in Scotland us bad. Secondly, the tent hasn't been pitched properly. Thirdly, it looks new and clean, as though it's come out of the packet.

Frankly, I don't really care where he's staying and I think it's a distraction. What bothers me much more is that he's really not acting like a leader and seems to be noticeably absent whenever there's any kind of crisis.

There was an ad a couple of weeks to be Johnson's "public face", so it looks as though we'll see even less of him in the future.

I do wish that the supporters of minority rule would stop claiming that this shower have been elected democratically.

vegansrock Fri 21-Aug-20 19:26:09

Those people who think that nothing else matters apart from Brexit don’t care about public health, the economy, the environment, employment, education etc. Just thinking they’ve cast themselves and everyone else adrift is enough. What a narrow point of view.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 21-Aug-20 19:27:09

Varian the U.K. has a FPTP system, the electorate voted, the Conservatives one by 80 seats

varian Fri 21-Aug-20 19:49:56

I tbink we all know that the Conservatives won an 80 seat majority on the basis of gaining a minority of the votes.

Proof if ever it was needed that we do not live in a democratic country.

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 20:02:53

same as Trump - and with all the lies and the outside interference - nought to be proud of!

paddyanne Fri 21-Aug-20 20:07:07

Just sharing ,in case its not been seen Down South.....not validated ,it popped up on my newsfeed .

It appears that a blonde gentleman (use that term very loosely) who recently became a father for the ?? time has been 'fiddling' with a 28yr old violinist.
The person who gave birth to this blonde person's most recent child has now left him and this is the real reason that he hasn't been seen for several weeks.
Not that anyone is allowed to mention any names in this story as a super-injunction has been brought about,

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 20:25:09

wahoo ... another friend hinted at something really dodgy going on - but had no idea. We will all know in due course. I suppose- but wow.

varian Fri 21-Aug-20 20:27:41

I can't think who you're referring to Paddyanne . Do you have spies checking out all the campsites in Scotland ?

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 20:29:17

well that was one year ago - so perhaps still going on ???

'Apparently, BorisJohnson’s huge & public row with Carrie Symonds that the neighbours taped was all about his new affair with a 28 yr old violinist- most journalists know this but are not covering the story.'

trisher Fri 21-Aug-20 20:44:11

According to the newspaper him, Carrie and baby were spending pleasant evenings in the tent! A 4 month old! Midgies and Scottish weather-pleasant!!?? Mind do you suppose she made him sleep in the tent and she &baby had the cottage. -New version of The Dog House!

Oh please!
If the Lib Dems had somehow won with a massive majority there wouldn't be a peep out of you.
Learn to lose gracefully.

lemongrove Fri 21-Aug-20 21:00:59

paddyanne very old news....does it take a year to percolate up to Scotland?

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 21:13:27

The violinist bit- yes, about 1 year old.

But this bit 'The person who gave birth to this blonde person's most recent child has now left him and this is the real reason that he hasn't been seen for several weeks.
Not that anyone is allowed to mention any names in this story as a super-injunction has been brought about' - please do enlighten us then.

biba70 Fri 21-Aug-20 21:14:12

New meaning for 'being on the fiddle' then.

Ellianne Fri 21-Aug-20 21:23:54

Perhaps Dilyn the dog stayed in the tent?
