Where's the P.M.? Shouldn't he be in view, not hiding away ?

Look at the disruptions of recent days;
Exam results and fudged response from Education secretary , passing the buck, stretching the truth about when he really knew about the algorithm,

increase in covid figures
;
Migrants in small boats and Patel's response,

News of contract to work on Ofqual awarded to long term associates of Gove and Cummings without tender.

Not removing whip from MP accused of rape.

So it goes on .Surely a P.M worth his salt should give the nation the impression he is in charge. As usual Johnson is nowhere to be seen.

biba70 sorry but he was in N.Ireland last week meeting with politicians. So unfortunately your allegations of him not being seen for several weeks is false.

As mayor of London I remember Boris used to crop up unanounced at events all over the city. We went Carol singing in Trafalgar Square and towards the end he took to the stage to give a Christnas message. We saw him again welcome everyone to Taste in Regents Park. OK I know these are hardly earth shattering events, but he did get around and was seen frequently. The people of London liked him.
It isn't his style to hide away, but he is quite bombastic and unpredictable which looks unpolished as PM.

Seems he’s been up to Applecross. Beautiful scenery. I love that area of the west Highlands.

Yes its lovely, but August is notoriously wet n windy. Much nicer weather in May/June before the midges. With 50mph winds it can't have been very pleasant for the staff in the tent.

Thanks Dinahmo grin

MayBee70 Sat 22-Aug-20 12:05:44

I can't believe that he actually thought it was safe to pitch a tent so close to a drop down to the sea in Scotland which is surely quite a windy place at times.

Lucca Sat 22-Aug-20 12:19:21

Dinahmo Such good writing!

lemongrove Sat 22-Aug-20 12:34:19

So many are obsessing about a tent! Is boredom setting in??

Firecracker123 Sat 22-Aug-20 12:49:27

It's a teepee tent just for sitting in in the daytime to keep you out of the wind and sun.

Dinahmo Sat 22-Aug-20 13:17:19

Lucca Marina Hyde is always worth reading. She manages to deflate the pompous without being rude.

Furious farmer reveals Boris Johnson 'climbed over his fence to set up 8ft tent WITHOUT permission and lit a dangerous campfire before fleeing Highlands holiday cottage'... leaving his MINDERS to clean up

Sorry about the shouty capitals but it comes from the DM

Boris apparently livid that the Daily Mail disclosed his Scottish holiday location. Imagine how livid he’s going to be when he discovers exam results mess, the failing track and trace system and the lack of progress on Brexit negotiations

John Crace.

I like Marina Hyde’s articles in the Guardian. She’s smart and has an amusing take on people.

However she does bang on about Boris being lazy. She’s singing to her disciples obviously but one surely has to say - hang on, he DID have Covid remember! He was in intensive care - two nurses verified that fact. We can all recall how washed out he actually was mid March when he came out of hospital. Some people can’t accept he did need a holiday to recharge his batteries.

And to those who say ‘well what about the stalled Brexit negotiations?’ one has to bear in mind it hasn’t stopped other EU leaders (Macron and his swimming trunks for example) taking a break in August too.

Mais naturellement, Urmstongran, it's August, forget Brexit. Michel Barnier himself halted all talks a few weeks ago so he could jet off on his holiday.

MayBee70 Sat 22-Aug-20 15:57:00

Forget brexit? Forget something that is going to throw the country in as much turmoil as the virus? Yes, I'm sure a lot of people would like to forget it. What happened to the oven ready deal that was promised?

Urmstongran Sat 22-Aug-20 16:00:54

You have a better sense of perspective Ellianne
?

Boris can go on his (well earned) jollies because David Frost is sat behind the steering wheel.

It will all be more intense in a couple of weeks.

trisher Sat 22-Aug-20 16:03:23

I don't suppose Brexit worries Macron or Barnier very much, after all why should it? Things in EU countries will go on much as they do now, whereas we of course will be up Shit Creek without a paddle, led by a man who can't even put up his own tent.

MayBee70 Sat 22-Aug-20 16:57:04

Barnier had the virus, did he not, so perhaps he needed a holiday. Then again he probably didn't have it too badly because he wasn't obese.

Jabberwok Sat 22-Aug-20 17:12:28

It was the WA that was oven ready, not the trade deal which wasn't discussed before the WA had been agreed. FGS, how many more times does this point have to be repeated?!!!

The farmer was probably an SNP plonker with an agenda smile

biba70 Sat 22-Aug-20 17:18:51

I think you need to watch the video of Boris saying that the Deal is oven rady, just put in microwave at Gas whatever!

We agreed to leave on very clear terms- eg a level playing field which would not undercut the EU - and the UK has backtracked on this non-stop since then - going backwards - and very dishonest.

vegansrock Sat 22-Aug-20 17:28:58

So someone who objects to tourists clambering over their land is described, with no evidence, a "plonker". I would suggest the PM would be more worthy of that description

Greeneyedgirl Sat 22-Aug-20 17:33:35

Of course Johnson needs a large tent alongside to keep his ministers where he can see ‘em, p***i g out. That’s why Gavin Williamson, still in post I imagine. Doesn’t want him p***ing in grin
