So, did he go to Perugia incognito - or not?

Shame, if I had known he was so close to where we were on holiday, I would have gone to have 'a word' in his ear.

I think the main point with this story, is that it is believable, this man’s behaviour makes it all quite possible.

So the point is it may or may not be true but let’s castigate the man anyway cos we don’t like him?

Whitewavemark2 Mon 21-Sept-20 18:25:08

Not a question of not liking him, it is a question of expecting a standard of behaviour

lemongrove Mon 21-Sept-20 18:29:32

Whitewave...Putin does not have control over all oligarchs, in fact many hate him which is why they live here, or Monaco or wherever.
It’s a non story at best and you know it.

You are so wrong about Putin. He is absolutely in control.

It is certainly not a non story and to claim that is naive at best.

Now come on Whitewave....was it Johnson or Blair??

growstuff Mon 21-Sept-20 18:39:16

Unfortunately he does have control over them, which is precisely why they're allowed to live abroad. If they don't play the game, they get invited for a nice cup of tea or their family in Russia get a visit. Most of them still have a financial interest in Russia and those interests can be impounded. It's not too difficult to charge them with fraud, if Putin so wishes.

trisher Mon 21-Sept-20 18:39:16

Interesting isn't it no one is actually saying he wouldn't or he couldn't do it only discussing if it was Ok for him to do it.
As far as religion goes he shows his usual lack of consistency, Christened RC, confirmed Cof E.!!!

Deedaa

The point surely is the lack of clarity. If he went to Perugia why not come out and admit it? If he didn't go then tell us what he was doing. We are paying him that £150,000 he can't afford to live on so it is our business. And what about Wilfred? Westminster Cathedral? Perugia? Is Carrie a catholic because surely Boris isn't and does the church baptise the children of unmarried parents?

Johnson was baptised as a Catholic.

How many times has Johnson been sacked for lying. Or knowingly lied to the Queen or parliament, or indeed the voter?

Last week he denied having any memory of his last lie, when question by a committee.

So when we pit Johnson against someone doing their job with no axe to grind who do you believe?

lemongrove Mon 21-Sept-20 18:48:54

It’s by no means clear Whitewave so you shouldn’t always believe all you read on social media by unknown sources.
It’s just another Johnson bash.
We don’t know for a fact that he had a weekend in Italy, for a start, but if he did, so what!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 21-Sept-20 18:57:54

Sigh!

biba70 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:02:49

how can anyone have a discussion with people who can't see, won't see ... like hitting your head against a brick wall. What a waste of energy.

biba70 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:16:28

Hope you are watching Panorama - and perhaps you will see the links - clear as bells. Trillions involved.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:18:43

Yes I am??

biba70 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:19:46

And the real reason for ... well, you know

LauraNorder Mon 21-Sept-20 19:21:55

Banging heads against a brick wall works both ways. Can’t reason with hatred and prejudice. So leaving the thread.

Callistemon Mon 21-Sept-20 19:25:06

Like my Dad in fact.

Not disagreeing with you, trisher - heaven forbid I would do that! but it does happen. We can't choose what religion we're born into and may decide later that another, or none, may be what we decide on.

The Catholic church is so much more relaxed these days, Deedaa.

biba70 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:25:46

Perhaps watch Panorama instead- about money laundering, and the Russians, helped by our bankers and probably politicians.

Callistemon Mon 21-Sept-20 19:27:01

Yes!

Why anyone would want to stay with Barclays (other thread) is beyond my understanding

Jaberwok Mon 21-Sept-20 19:28:35

Boris was a baptised Catholic as his mother is a catholic, but he was confirmed into the Anglican faith at Eton! However, Carrie is a practising Catholic so I guess Wilfred was baptised into that faith, and yes the Catholic church has always baptised illegitimate children .

Whitewavemark2 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:30:29

So the banks know, the revenue departments know, the secret services know. The government will know.

What is going on?

biba70 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:39:58

I thinks that is the whole point WWmk2.

3000 companies involved, more tha anywhere else in the world. Money laundering involving terrorism, illegal arms sales, drugs, prostution and more- and massive political funding.

No wonder they want to hide from EU scrutiny!

Whitewavemark2 Mon 21-Sept-20 19:47:53

Tories should be gravely ashamed.

biba70 Mon 21-Sept-20 20:05:59

That certainly was a shocking eye-opener. Clear to see why more scrutiny and level playing field from EU would not be welcome.

About brick walls it is impossible to discuss anything with anyone who will not look at the facts. We can disagree about interpretations - but you need to see the facts given first.

That would apply even if we discussed the best recipe for lasagna, or the best technique to propagate plants. Anything in fact.

The detail about Symonds being a practising Catholic was added to her Wiki entry today. Personally, I couldn't care less, but why is it so important?
