I think she will resign but others seem to brazen it out when they break up the rules, so who knows.

Who knows Call? I doubt it’ll get to a recall because I’m still sure she’ll resign.

I think we know that MPs can't be sacked.

However, will the constituents want to be represented by an Independent MP who has a blatant disregard for the rules when they elected an SNP member in good faith?

At least Cummings didn’t go around infecting all and sundry. Farrier, an elected MP, got on a train twice, the first after taking the test and the second after she knew it was positive , and she spoke in the House of Commons. Furthermore she strongly condemned Cummings and demanded his resignation or sacking. She is the worse transgressors of all those who have transgressed. Sturgeon needs to get rid or maybe she is giving Farrier a chance to resign first. Farrier’s constituents want her deselected.

Avalon.....You are absolutely right that so far this year she is the worst political transgressor! To go to London on a train after not waiting for the test results, and then returning by train afterwards when she knew she had the virus just beggars belief.

And constituents don’t deselect MPs - it’s the party members who do that. Constituents elect MPs. Constituents can use tge Recall Act in certain circumstances to recall the MP and hold a by-election. I’ve noticed that for some criticising NS seems to go hand in hand with not having a clue about how Westminster and the devolved administrations work.

Furret has that been confirmed that Stanley Johnson isn't being fined? What about Corbyn, his wife and the other 7 dinner guests, do you know if they've all been fined, as Corbyn won't confirm or deny?

The Recall Act can only be activated if she is given a prison sentence of 12 months or may ( won’t happen) or the Standards Committee suspend her from the House for 10 working days or more ( very very likely). Then her constituents can set up the petition. The latter is why I think she’ll resign. IB and NS have done and said all they can atm - but we all know what’s been going on in private ( and quite right too)

MF has already been suspended from the SNP, and both Ms Sturgeon and the SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford have urged her to resign, but she is there as the elected representative of her constituency, not as an employee of Nicola Sturgeon.

I wish folk would read the thread before posting.

Sturgeon has "got rid", IB, who is leader of the SNP in Westminster has removed the whip. So Ferrier is no longer an SNP MP, she's independent.

She can't be deselected for this parliament because she's already been elected.

She works for her constituents. If they want her gone, there is a petition process to follow.

Ferrier is worse than Cummings - she travelled on public transport.

Corbyn is apparently not going to be fined over breaking the rule of 6.

Oh let's not hope for any immediate response. Heaven forfend a politician should make the same immediate response to one of their own that they'd make to any opposition politician! I despair of integrity ever being a foundation of ANY political leader, none of them can claim the higher ground!

NS did all she is legally able to do within 2 hours of Farrier's statement, and by that time IB had already withdrawn the whip. Seems pretty immediate to me.

jan all NS and IB can do re her going is beg her to resign and make it clear she will be permanently expelled from the party. But ultimately it’s MF decision. ( unless she becomes subject to recall). I’ll be very surprised if she doesn’t resign though

NS didn’t ‘simply’ support his action. It wasn’t her role to do anything except what she did - to support IB and make clear her views. She’s been clear about where she stands but can do nothing else publicly. I’m sure behind the scenes she and IB are making it quite clear that MF should resign. Imo I think she will before the week is over.

It seems the only rule these individuals seem to be aware of is the 11th Commandment - Thou shalt not be found out. ?
