We need a coup

Whether it is an internal Tory overthrow or another political group, we need the current criminal incompetents removed from power. They are willfully causing needless C19 deaths and in-full-view pocketing tax payer money with only the flimsiest of attempts to pretend they're not.

I'm no Tory (god forbid) but bloody hell, what we need now is a Margaret Thatcher to sort this unholy mess Boris and his buddies are making.

Janpt- no surprise that your focus of criticism is of Angela Raynor for using language that she quickly apologised for. No criticism at all for the way this government throws our tax money down the drain, allocating government contracts to their friends despite the companies having no experience or expertise.
Angela Raynor's use of one word has given the Tories false outrage at a time when they were rightly facing widespread criticism.

This is not false outrage. It is outrage that someone in her role as Deputy Leader of the Labour party is not fit for office. No apology will hide that fact. I can think of far more reasons the Labour Party can be criticized for too but you can't accept that.

As a labour party supporter I am furious with angela rayner, not because of the language used, Johnson has used a range of racist homophobic language for example, but because it detracts from the issue and gives people an excuse to focus on the word rather than children starving. It detracts from the real issue. And gives those who care little about those children an opt out.

Perhaps reading the Insight article starting on the front page of the Sunday Times will give some of the posters who think the sun shines out of this government a different perspective.

I found it very upsetting indeed and still they go on lying.

Perhaps this needs a thread of its own?

Remember Greenland? It took three years for them to break away from the tyranny of the EU! So nearly five years for us had to be expected!

You were well conned if you thought that disentangling 47 years of close regulatory integration was going to be easy or quick. Most knowledgeable commentators thought 10 years would be nearer the mark.

Whitewavemark2 Sun 25-Oct-20 11:02:42

I think that we have hope fervently for a Biden win.

Sad end?!!!! Oh really?!! Time will tell! I think, like lemon, that a deal will be done at the eleventh hour. The ex finance minister of Greece indicated that this would be the outcome, and he had had experience!!! Remember Greenland? It took three years for them to break away from the tyranny of the EU! So nearly five years for us had to be expected!

MaizieD Sat 24-Oct-20 22:01:03

Johnson doesn't need to hold his nerve. It's a question of no deal or a very poor deal.

Speculation is that he'll wait for the US election result. If the orange one gets back in Johnson will go for no deal; if Biden gets in he'll go for the poor deal (and of course, big it up like he did the Withdrawal Deal which was just the same as May's deal, just with the NI customs border in a different place).

Such a sad end for a once prosperous and respected UK.

lemongrove Sat 24-Oct-20 21:55:15

I think there will be a deal, last minute as usual with the EU.

lemongrove Sat 24-Oct-20 21:54:24

It proves Galaxy that those I know wanted to leave the EU,
So are happy....and that you, and those who wished to remain are not happy.
Balance, see?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-Oct-20 21:50:07

So much whataboutery the best business deals go to the wire, this will be no different.
It is in the interest of both sides to negotiate a deal.

Galaxy Sat 24-Oct-20 21:49:17

Well yes most people drift towards those with similar beliefs so yes I am sure lots of people you know think it's going well, in the same way that no one I know thinks its going well. It proves nothing really.

Jaberwok Sat 24-Oct-20 21:44:33

I agree Lemon, everyone I know is more than p!eased the way the talks are going. So long as Boris holds his nerve I think a deal will be done, and if it's no deal then so be it!

lemongrove Sat 24-Oct-20 21:25:32

I do like a bit of balance?

Curlywhirly Sat 24-Oct-20 20:22:55

Well, just for balance, no one I know, and I mean no one, is happy with the way brexit is going, just saying.

lemongrove Sat 24-Oct-20 18:55:24

Only in your dreams varian?
Everybody I know is very happy with how Brexit is progressing .....obviously, you, not so much.

varian Sat 24-Oct-20 18:37:08

There is an air of desperation about the right wing brexit believers as reality threatens to burst their balloon and destroy their delusions for one and all

Curlywhirly Sat 24-Oct-20 18:26:22

Janpt your comment 18.04 - charming! Not.

Maizie

Re Cromwell.

I would just like to mention the absolute coincidence of how Cromwell’s relative and his monarch and how so much is similar to Johnson. History really is repeating itself. Particularly during the early part if Henry’s reign.

Now back to Oliver?
