Jeremy Corbyn suspended from Labour Party

I believe that it has become increasingly obvious that Starmer and those that surround him see no room in the leadership or the wider party for those who are from the traditional left. The suspension of Jeremy Corbyn, the failure to set up a hearing giving him a fair opportunity to state his case, followed by the banning of all talk in regard to Corbyn at Labour meeting etc demonstrates comprehensively the fact that Labour being a broad coalition of views is at an end.

Therefore I believe that the time has come for the two wings of the Labour Party to finally divide and for both sections make the own way in the political world. The right of the party could have the Tory lite party that they seem to wish for, while the left through its trade union base can form a new political party as an extension to those trade union ambitions.

The above would surely bring stability to left of centre politics in Britain as the divisions are now so great that they can never be brought satisfactorily together again under one political umbrella I feel.

GrannyGravy13, keep up at the back. Handing the Conservative party the gift of Governing the UK to infinity and beyond is exactly what the Corbyn supporters must want to happen. Brexit was an issue in the red wall seats but Corbyn was the major issue . His supporters do not and never will accept that. I don't know if they'll go off and start another party but I wish would make a decision and get on with it.

If a division of the present Labour Party were on paper to hand the Conservative Party power in government for a protracted period, so be it. If the right in the Labour Party wish to undermine an elected leader from the left in the manner that they did, and then exclude all from that section of the party on gaining leadership themselves, then a total split within the organisation should be no more than the right should expect.

I believe that with the sacking of Rebbeca Long-Bailey the left has shown themselves to have been extremely tolerant in the face of provocation especially as no one from the left was put in that position following her dismissal. The treatment of Jeremy Corbyn is undoubtedly a very different matter and to all on the left who pay the political subscription through their trade union, it is a blinding message that their presence and views are now unwanted in the party.

Should it be that two political parties are formed out of the present Labour Party then perhaps they will be able to cooperate in opposition or even form a coalition in a hung parliament. Whatever, it has become increasingly obvious that the present situation in the party cannot continue unless Starmer has a major change in attitude that brings him to lead the whole party and not just a section within it.

As for the time it will take to form a new organisation, that only started in earnest over the last few weeks with the meeting of several union executives to discuss the matter ten days ago. I would think that there would have to be a change in the TUC charter before they could set about forming a new party.

If there is to be another split in the Labour Party, it is absolutely vital that both new parties campaign vigorously for electoral reform. Otherwise the right-wing minority will continue to rule under FPTP.

My fear is that Corbyn will continue to attempt to destabilise the Labour Party and undermine whoever is leader, which is what in my view, Corbyn has done for 40 years.

We have always (LP members) have been told that the Labour Party is a 'Broad Church', containing so many whose ideas as to what Socialism is. From those who just want a gentler form of capitalism (if there is such an animal) to those whom the media love to label 'The Extreme Left'. These are those who want to work slowly but consistently towards a fairer society, with no groups or families or companies taking enormous bites of the national cherry.

Having been a member of the LP since the early 1960's during which many decades the so-called right wing (the gentler capitalism group), seem to have had control for most of the time), I find it strange that people put down the recent election defeat to a turn-off by the electorate of the left wing JC.
This election result was a triumph for the Media Barons, who so feared JC and a left wing labour government who had promised to break the power and control by those few media barons. So, they conducted a continuous vicious campaign to undermine just one man. Not the policies, just him.
As with 1984 story, the Newspeak won the day. And, as with turkeys voting for Christmas, those who would most have benefitted from a Socialist government voted against it.
The whole carry-on about so-called anti-semitism in the LP is part of that campaign. Yes, a few high profile Jewish members can shout about their perception of that. Thousands of constituency Jewish Labour party members have not had their voices heard as they say that they have no experience of this. The Jewish Board of Guardians, a very right wing organisation spread their wings to bring down Corbyn because he dared to say that the current extreme right wing government of Israel is exactly that.
The on-going confusion between being anti-Israeli government and anti-semitism (two entirely different things), has been deliberately, and carefully fostered.
