There are rumours that the U.K. in wavering in its negotiations.

At long last reality is setting in.

A couple of reasons.

It is likely that Trump, who has supported Brexit and promised a “great deal” ?has been defeated. Johnson has lost his only foreign supporter.

Looking at the economic forecast it is grim. Our figures are the worst in the western world at the moment and will take another huge hit if Johnson commits hari kari and goes for No deal.

what a slimy character- and yes, many people did vote leave as they were told it would save the NHS

biba70 Tue 24-Nov-20 10:41:33

So, is the Nissan Plant closing in Sunderland, as published in German papers?

Cindersdad Tue 24-Nov-20 12:17:50

I'm on Facebook in several anti Boris Groups. I will never understand how any thinking person could vote Leave as the lies on the bus were so blatant. We are stuck in an awful situation; it is only when the truth fully strikes home that the unthinking leave mob will revolt. The Vote.Leave crew should be put on trial for gross lying and treason. David Cameron for negligence and ineptitude. There are still Leave Voters who are content to go with the flow.

The Nissan workers were warned back in 2016 that their plant could be at risk if we left the EU. I just hope that we get a general election ahead of time and don't have to wait until 2024.

COVID corruption has shown the government to be even more crooked than we could have imagined.

I think it's all still rumour at the moment, biba.

Though I think I'll stick by the prediction I made as soon as I heard that Sunderland had voted Leave. 'That's Nissan on the way out...'

French did a quick trial of their post brexit customs checks today.

A 5 mile queue of lorries quickly formed in Kent.

This is just a peak at what January is going to bring.

paddyanne Tue 24-Nov-20 22:08:00

You can all relax its all Nicola Sturgeons fault the talks are in the mess they are...and she hasn't been invited to join any of them.Todays Scottish newspapers are full of Gove blaming oor Nic for speaking to the EU behind his back about the effects of Brexit on Scotland .So when the queues are 25 miles long and food is up by 25% you can blame us..because our leader wanted to save us from the mess your leaders have got us into.

How bloody dare she ,who does she think she is .......our elected leader thats who !

petra Tue 24-Nov-20 22:42:45

I see that the uk Fisheries bill has received Royal assent. This will prove interesting ?

MaizieD Tue 24-Nov-20 22:44:32

Well, it makes a change from Remoaners grin

If only we'd all pull together and make it the Titanic success we've been promised...

paddyanne Tue 24-Nov-20 22:54:52

Fisheries and farmers polled now at 75% who say they would vote AGAINST Brexit ...sadly they saw sense too late

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-Nov-20 07:03:51

Biden has told the U.K. that he doesn’t want a guarded border between the two Irelands. He went on to say that it had taken too long to achieve what we have now I.e. free borders, and the U.K. must not jeopardise that.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-Nov-20 07:22:32

The U.K. government has FINALLY ADMITTED that there will be a seismic economic crises after January.

There is nothing to say is there?

To whom are they going to apologise? The list is long.

All those who believed their lies.

The future generations, like our grandchildren, full of hope for the future

Those who warned of the consequences and were told that they were shouting project fear.

The tax payer who has spent billions upon billions on this folly and has yet seen absolutely nothing for their money except a flooded lorry park.

The Irish for jeopardising their perilous peace

The United Kingdom for jeopardising the Union

Deprived areas of the U.K. who has received enormous and constant support from the EU, which can be seen in the new infrastructure and support

The farmers who are facing economic ruin

The workers whose companies are moving to the EU. Some quietly others with more of a fanfare.

Natural and wildlife projects, like re-wilding, salt marshes, river and air clean up, all financially supported by the EU with huge amounts of project money.

The ability to devise a project that would benefit the community and submit it to a body for consideration of financial assistance.

The U.K. who will be all the poorer, both economically and socially.

It is a disaster.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-Nov-20 07:59:28

So, the government has warned of threats to

Food

Social care

Water

Public order.

Economic recovery will be negligible

Trade will be severely disrupted.

Our suicide mission is at the moment alive and kicking.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-Nov-20 08:15:34

£30 million to celebrate an economic disaster.

MaizieD Wed 25-Nov-20 10:18:43

Links, WwMk2?

MaizieD Wed 25-Nov-20 11:04:51

The source of Wwmk2's posts above.

Note it is a briefing to the government, not journalistic speculation.

No doubt there will be those who dismiss the briefing as having been prepared by the Remoaner Civil Service (who probably need a good Patel type kicking to induce them to produce more rose tinted assessments) or just keep their fingers in their ears (as they have been for the last 4 years) and screech 'Project Fear'.

For everyone else it makes grim reading...

Whitewavemark2 Wed 25-Nov-20 11:20:27

Thanks maizie I should have referenced it but forgot.

Grim indeed.

Frankly I’m dreading the New Year as it paints such an awful picture.

Those Brits now living in the EU must be looking on with horror.

GillT57 Wed 25-Nov-20 12:05:24

I too am dreading January, maybe Johnson is hoping that we won't notice the food shortages if we are all locked in again after the upsurge in Covid19 after Christmas when everyone crams into the house, cuddling their relatives. When will people accept that this is going to be an absolute disaster? What will it take to make them think that maybe they voted the wrong way?

NannyC2 Wed 25-Nov-20 12:47:26

Whitewavemark2 - your remark "Looking at the economic forecast it is grim." Why do you think that is?

Actually things are getting exciting - Trump has his ammunition and evidence as well as the 'Dominion' server built with view to change votes not only in USA but in other countries, particularly in Venezuela, where the people suffer horrendously.
Yes, I am a Trump supporter!

well NannyC2, you can't win 'em all, and thankfully for the sake of the rest of the world, your man didn't either.

Will you stop moaning and just be positive and 'wait and see' ...

Far-right but with a much higher IQ. Boris is for Boris and not for the UK. Should have stuck with Theresa.

Yes, an IQ of 50 instead of 25

Davidhs Wed 25-Nov-20 16:40:23

The only reason to be positive that I can see, because we are not travelling overseas or at home because of Covid that will take the pressure off ports and airports. As long as French fishermen don’t blockade Calais delays may not be too long.

I’m not too bothered about Ireland in the short term, goods going into the south may well get checked, no reason to check people. That’s how it works in Switzerland, there are border posts but mostly you drive straight through, goods have to pass customs. Longer term we will see, nobody, north or south wants travel restrictions, they do agree on that.

What’s the relevance of Switzerland - they are to all intents and purposes a member of the single market so not like us at all surely?
