Last night after feeling unwell.

Fingers crossed for him.

Ellianne Wed 17-Feb-21 15:02:31

Oh dear, did he have an apoplectic fit that Harry is going on Oprah?
Sorry.
Fingers crossed.

LauraNorder Wed 17-Feb-21 15:07:24

I suppose, like Captain Sir Tom Moore, we wish him well but have to acknowledge his great age.

grandmajet Wed 17-Feb-21 15:15:38

Poor queen, they’ve been together ages.
But yes, you’re right, he has reached a great age.

Puzzler61 Wed 17-Feb-21 15:19:05

You are so right LauraNorder. We’ve not seen him much lately but he has looked frail in the last couple of years.
Ellianne love your black humour and I know you don’t mean any harm ?
I’ve enjoyed getting an idea of the Duke’s life from “The Crown” and I wouldn’t give up on him yet.

lets hope it's not too serious as article states as follows;

'in good spirits as he 'walks unaided' into hospital ' and not covid related..

Sarnia Wed 17-Feb-21 15:22:30

He strikes me as a fighter. Fingers crossed he can get his card from the Queen on his birthday.

Anniebach Wed 17-Feb-21 15:27:58

He was taken in as precautionary measure and is expected to remain a few days.

I hope this is so.

Kamiso Wed 17-Feb-21 15:35:36

I wonder if he is clinging on as he knows that the queen must be feeling pretty awful what with Harry and Andrew’s behaviour. She has said that he has been her rock for most of their lives together and she’ll find life far harder without his support. Shame all this has come at the end stage of her reign.

I haven’t watched The Crown but gather from feedback and reactions that it is a fictionalised version of their lives rather than an open minded version.

He's in for 'observation and rest'. You'd think he could have that at home with their resources. Oh well.

Yes, and surely they could take more covid precautions at home rather than going into hospital?

Anniebach Wed 17-Feb-21 15:44:01

Suppose it depends if it was a heart problem or similar.

Pittcity Wed 17-Feb-21 15:52:52

Maybe he just wants a change of scenery!

AGAA4 Wed 17-Feb-21 15:53:11

We aren't always told the whole story so maybe he needed the facilities only a hospital has available. I wish him well and hope he is back home soon.

Aveline Wed 17-Feb-21 16:05:02

Maybe needs X rays or scans of some sort.

suziewoozie Wed 17-Feb-21 16:28:05

He’s very old and getting the level of health care most of us especially at this time can only dream of. He’s got to die sometime.

Rosalyn69 Wed 17-Feb-21 16:31:33

I wish him a speedy recovery.

Grandma70s Wed 17-Feb-21 16:38:38

I hope gets to his hundredth birthday in June.

GagaJo Wed 17-Feb-21 16:38:39

I have a feeling this may be it. I don't know how or why I feel this so I am probably talking out of my backside. BUT I also had a feeling MM was pregnant a good couple of months ago.

Not that I am mystic Meg or anything. One of 'em is ancient, and the other one has ancient eggs (use 'em or lose 'em).

Jane43 Wed 17-Feb-21 16:49:30

Let’s hope it is just a precaution. He is very tough so fingers crossed for him.

sodapop Wed 17-Feb-21 16:50:34

I wish him well too but he is a great age. As Puzzler61 said he is looking very frail now.

suziewoozie
You're so mean! but definitely on top form today. Starving children and neglected donkeys or was it the other way round ???

Firecracker123 Wed 17-Feb-21 18:53:23

I actually agree with susiewoozie well there's a first. He's had a charmed life best care available, best food, everything handed to him on a plate. Unlike us ordinary folks and my poor Dad.

Urmstongran Wed 17-Feb-21 19:05:47

Philip is renowned for loathing to be unwell and any attendant fuss - but he will be receiving the best care. The royals have the cream of the medical profession at their disposal.

Dorsetcupcake61 Wed 17-Feb-21 19:10:47

I felt it must be reasonably serious for him to be in hospital, but maybe they are just being cautious. At least it's not Covid related because if someone with his level of protection and privilege gets it theres no hope for any of us!
