Obviously, the Oprah interview with the Sussexes.

I will because I want to hear it straight from the source rather than media spin/interpretation so that I can comment later on what I saw and heard, when discussions start up as they surely will.

However, I don’t think they should be doing an interview at all (I felt the same about Diana and Charles interviews) these things end up backfiring against them.

If you’ve decided in advance you aren’t going to believe a single word they say you may as well just immerse yourself in the 25 pages of Mail diatribe today

They will, Nezumi. They certainly will. ?

I noticed that H said that he didn't realise he was trapped, so he didn't feel that he was before he met M. So, his truth became a new truth that became their truth...so what's the truth?

Grannynannywanny Tue 09-Mar-21 08:21:09

I felt from what they both said that Meghan was let down first and foremost by Harry. I found it shocking that he sat there and admitted that he felt too embarrassed to seek help for his wife who had told him she felt suicidal. Instead they both blamed the institution. Oprah’s interview skills were lacking at that point and she just let it pass.

If it was Harry who spilled the beans, that was likely to affect family politics in a major way and it seems it did, family rifts are caused by much smaller comments. It probably changed Meghans attitude to the whole RF if it’s true.

How did she get to Canada without a passport

Apparently Piers Morgan has just walked off set after Alex Beresford gave him a hard time for how he has treated Meghan.

The Daily Mail says Morgan is "upset".

Well boo hoo.

Thanks for the insults Nezumi and Maizie. I would have thanked you earlier but I was too busy having my opinions dictated by the press...

NellG Tue 09-Mar-21 08:30:49

Anniebach They gave it back to her as they were only holding it because they had to arrange her travel whilst she was a working royal. The implication that they had it for any other reason is childish on her part. It's a myth that they don't need passports - the Queen doesn't because she can't issue one to herself, but the rest do.

Luckygirl Tue 09-Mar-21 08:32:53

Meghan married into a dysfunctional family. When Harry saw that it was making her ill (as it did his mother) he got her out of it. Good for him.

Meghan was lambasted unremittingly by the gutter press; she took an opportunity to present her side - would we not all have done the same?

Sarnia Tue 09-Mar-21 08:33:53

Many posts on here wondering what Meghan sees in Harry. A B-list, resting actress meets an eligible Prince! She saw a golden opportunity to propel herself into the media spotlight. She has certainly done that with bells on. I wonder if she is as besotted as Harry clearly is? Time will tell. Whether the things they said were honest, who knows? Oprah's questions were very one-sided. Why not ask her about her father and why only 1 person from her family was at her wedding? Meghan's announcement that they were married 3 days before the public event is untrue. According to the BBC, Harry & Meghan had an informal exchange of vows which is not a valid wedding ceremony. I think they have made the right decision to go to the US. The Queen now needs to strip them of any remaining perks of being a Royal because they clearly have no intention of that and I hope she also removes Harry and his children from the line of accession to the throne.

NellG Tue 09-Mar-21 08:35:53

Luckygirl no, I would have kept my dignity and focused on maintaining my mental health and that of my immediate family and protected the privacy I publicly stated I wanted.

Jaffacake2 Tue 09-Mar-21 08:36:36

There was a lot of negative stories in the press from day one of Meghan being official girlfriend to Harry. Most of it had racial undertones with comments such as " tainting the royal blood line " " inviting Harry to tea in the ghetto area Compton of LA. " And the awful cartoon from Danny Baker on the day of the birth announcement of Archie with a picture of a chimp.
Why was there never a royal announcement against racism to Meghan ? That was such a missed opportunity to show that the principles of equality and diversity within the Commonwealth were being upheld. It was very abusive to Meghan and seemed constant.
Not surprising that they moved away and feel aggrieved that there was no support from the family.
And why has Prince Andrew not be vilified by the press for his association with a paedophile ? Meghan has been attacked more for supposedly bullying her staff than Andrew has for his behaviour and pompous attitude in his interview.

I admit i didn't watch the interview last night, but picking up a few points mentioned here. I am sure Prince Harry talked about his mental health problems before he met Meghan and I am not aware that that caused any problems. In fact his openess and honesty was praised by all.

In which case I find it difficult to believe that he should be embarrassed about seeking help for his fiancee. In fact I see that failure as an act of downright cowardice. The woman he loved struggling for her mental health and he doesn't seek help for her because he was embarrassed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And after all his mother's troubles and difficulties?

I get the impression of a couple looking for insult and injury under every bush, scanning every paper in case there is an odd comment at the bottom of the back, but one page that they could construe as an insult to them.

They strike me as a couple with too much time and too little to do who just sit around rehearsing their grievances with one another and constantly adding yet another chip to each others shoulders. I hope they grow up before their children do.

Agree with nellg

“Meghan married into a dysfunctional family.”

If that’s the case, luckygirl, she should’ve felt right at home having come from one.....

Anniebach Tue 09-Mar-21 08:44:58

Andrew certainly came under fire with the press, he vanished from sight and has remained silent. The Sussex’s leap in front
of any camera in sight so get themselves on the front pages.

tickingbird Tue 09-Mar-21 08:45:20

I watched some of it last night as I lay in bed - it did help me get to sleep!

I believe that the reason this spoilt, petulant pair acted so strangely when Archie was born was because they felt their child wasn’t being given his due. There’s been whispers for a while that Harry gets jealous of William’s higher place in the pecking order of the institution. Stamp your collective feet and demand your son be titled prince and accuse the RF of racism. They’re guilty of wanting the rules changed for them and willing to play the race card when it doesn’t go their way.

Personally, I found it sickening and can’t believe people fall for this act. It wouldn’t surprise me if they get their way and I, for one, would rather see the end of the Monarchy, than give anything to this spiteful, greedy pair.

3nanny6 Tue 09-Mar-21 08:57:36

They came across as a couple that need to go into therapy.
Harry had difficulty answering some of the questions.

They did not attack the Queen and both spoke of her with
affection. All of this could have been addressed within the family and not shown publicly to be mocked like a travelling circus.

Prince Charles should be looking at his parenting qualities as Harry came across as a young man desperately wanting
his fathers help and acceptance. Without a doubt Harry has been failed by his father ever since the death of Diana and even now it seems that Harry has still not come to terms with her passing.

Gwyneth Tue 09-Mar-21 08:59:01

I didn’t watch the interview last night but did read a comment this morning that they had the support of Joe Biden. It’s very worrying that considering the problems in the USA currently that he has the time to not only watch the interview but also comment on it. Guessing he’s just following in the footsteps of the Obama, Clinton, Clooney brigade. The answer might be for Harry to take American citizenship and then all his mates in high places can foot his security bill and we ‘racist Brits’ will be well rid of them.

Ellianne Tue 09-Mar-21 08:59:54

I taped it and watched it in the small hours.

1) there were at least 2 maybe 3 occasions when they said things "started to go wrong" within the family ... wedding preparations, jealousy after the Australia tour, and something else.
It seems every comment made was a catalyst for their anger and upset.
2) Meghan pretended to be surprised by what the papers said regarding stroking her tummy and the crying over the bridesmaid dress. She even asked Oprah to read out to her what was reported. As if!
She had clearly read other reports in the press thoroughly enough when it suited her.
Very dishonest and Oprah was part of this deception.

Anniebach Tue 09-Mar-21 09:00:27

Seems Harry wanted his fathers money.

lemsip Tue 09-Mar-21 09:09:33

When harry first met meghan and told william about her we know that Harry was angry that william told him not to rush into anything and take his time to get to know her.
That is when skin colour of any children was mentioned....Not when she was actually expecting archie. Harry was exceptionally cruel to tell Meghan this. Very hurtful and damaging to William.
may I add; ALL IN MY OPINION ONLY. No I wasn't there so don't ask.
