Just when you think they can’t sink any lower

I wouldn’t have seen it if it hadn’t been posted here.

Me neither.

I don't think it's an official poster, it's something some minister concocted and put on his Twitter feed.

A daft thing to do particularly as he has done a good job with the vaccination programme.
What was he thinking?

JaneJudge Sat 03-Apr-21 10:28:59

I still don't understand why we have to eat fish

Beckett Sat 03-Apr-21 10:29:25

It would appear Christians on GN are not offended - just those who disagree with his politics and/or atheists hmm

Callistemon Sat 03-Apr-21 10:29:30

No - atheists do not classify Jesus the same as father christmas. Jesus is an historical figure

St Nicholas (Santa Claus) was an historical figure too.

Anniebach Sat 03-Apr-21 10:32:28

So he used the cross and now some here are using the cross to
score political points,

GrannyGravy13 Sat 03-Apr-21 10:33:37

Basically anyone opposing the current Government will trawl the internet and MSM for anything to attack them with.

This has nothing to do with religion, just political bias and frustration that Mr.Johnson and the Conservatives are the Government of the UK.

You don't have to eat fish on Fridays or even Good Friday.

I think it was a decree from the Vatican centuries ago that Catholics should eat fish on Fridays as it is a cold, not warm, blooded animal and Jesus sacrificed his flesh for us on Good Friday.

The fish was also the secret symbol used by Christians when they were persecuted.

I wear my cross and chain round my neck every day Annie, no one can take that away, or it’s significance.

rafichagran Sat 03-Apr-21 10:37:49

I am not offended either.

janeainsworth Sat 03-Apr-21 10:38:30

This is quite different and you know it.

I don't think it is, Suzie.

Thank you, that makes more sense than what my Mother told me. She is convinced I will go to hell as I ate duck yesterday instead.

Why did he use the cross? Lovely bit of shifting the blame there away from the instigator to the recipient ????

Callistemon Sat 03-Apr-21 10:42:22

shock damned to eternal hell

Anniebach Sat 03-Apr-21 10:42:50

The secret symbol is - Ichthus

Perhaps it was a political move many moons ago to increase the fish trade!

Galaxy Sat 03-Apr-21 10:43:38

It would be worth it for duck though.

JaneJudge Sat 03-Apr-21 10:46:33

She said it was because they ate fish at the last supper but the last supper wasn't on Good Friday was it? confused I get confused every year about the timeline of Easter, I suppose it's because I don't go to church which I would have thought would be more of a reason for me to go to hell, rather than eating duck instead of fish on Good Friday

Anniebach Sat 03-Apr-21 10:50:27

Maundy Thursday is the day we remember the Last Supper

I failed to find the difference too Jane.

Thank you, you may have to remind me again next year smile

Molly ?????????He branded it. You’d have said the same if Sturgeon or Starmer had done it?

They are party leaders.

Lucca Sat 03-Apr-21 11:02:37

“ Basically anyone opposing the current Government will trawl the internet and MSM for anything to attack them with.”

Suzie you must stop trawling......?

Suzie by posting it here you gave it more publicity!

Agree.

It isn't wishing anyone a happy Good Friday, it's acknowledging that yesterday was Good Friday. For some the cross is in itself offensive as it was a form of torture.

I'm not a Conservative but I am a Christian and don't find it offensive.

I agree, I wasn’t offended.

To me, he was just pointing out it was Good Friday, as so many seem to have no idea it was, or the significance.

Callistemon Sat 03-Apr-21 11:10:53

It used to have so much more significance and there was no such thing as having a Happy Good Friday - the saddest day in the Christian calendar.
