Well said Jane!
National treasures. Who would you choose?
Please help! (grandchild being locked in bedroom)
What colour car do you have or did you used to drive?
Well said Jane!
It is incongruous Smileless and that bothers me a bit. I am a Christian and in that vein will wait and see what gets posted tomorrow.
On the other hand I'm not sure I am over bothered what others do. Live and let live.
When was the green and yellow one posted Jane? Is it 2021 or just an old stock image?

The Queen's on Twitter. Does she know its a cess pit?
twitter.com/royalfamily
She could always chat to Attenborough about it
twitter.com/attenboroughsir?lang=en
Is that the best you can do?
I'm sure you don't believe that the Queen is sat there updating her Twitter feed. Same for Mr. Attenborough
You obviously have no idea of the extent of racial abuse on Twitter.
Just do some research.
Twitter can be a supportive place.
Caroline Flack found it otherwise RIP
Oh FGS. I know the Queen doesn't update her own Twitter account. But the Firm obviously think that having a twitter account is important for communicating with the population and have set one up in her name. Ergo, there are people and organisations who consider Twitter to be important and "not" a cess pit.
I have no idea of the racial abuse? You have no idea what I have an idea about. How patronising.
I understand that Ellianne, I've certainly not seen anything like it before and I wouldn't have seen this had it not been here on GN.
Many enjoy the Easter break and Christmas without any thought to what they are in celebration of. Maybe some who see this will reflect on the true meaning of Easter especially after such a difficult year.
If this wasn't unusual because it's rarely seen unless it's outside a church or other places of worship, perhaps there would be a less cynical reaction.

I’ve just checked & it was posted on Facebook in 2019.
Obviously the cultural appropriation’s been going on for a while
We know about the misogyny racism etc on Twitter. Some of us have watched it for years so dont really need it explaining. That doesnt mean it doesnt have an enormous reach.
Smileless many of dont reflect on the meaning of Easter because we dont believe in that.

It's clearly a misunderstanding of the relevance of Good Friday to Christians.
The Eid and Passover ones are acknowledging a celebration.
Zahawi has missed the point here and should have waited to post a Happy Easter meassage.
This absolutely - but he hasn’t missed the point has he ? He’s deliberately associated the Conservatives with the ultimate Christian message of Good Friday. Wishing someone Happy Eid/Easter/Diwali is not the same (as you say).

I’ll just leave this here.....perhaps we should leave the politicians to their dirty point scoring and cultural appropriation and let them get on with it.
This is quite different and you know it.

No where on that poster (that I can see) does it say Happy Good Friday ?
Thank you Jane. I put the two images side by side to compare from a visual point of view. The colour and graphics say two very different things but I won't bore anyone.

The message is also very different isn’t it not just the graphics and colour.
It seems what people here are "offended" by is the fact it was a Conservative who posted it. Anyone reading his twitter account would be aware of his politics - but don't let that stop the hate fest against him.
I wonder if there would be a similar reaction if a Labour Party shadow minister posted when it is Eid-ul-Adha, Maulid-Al-Nabi or Ramadan and put the Labour logo at the bottom. Probably not, certainly not on GN
"many don't reflect on the meaning of Easter because we don't believe in that" as was acknowledged in my post Galaxy.
Yes, it's back to this 1000 words in a picture thing.
Both use the symbol of the cross to convey a different message about which I am puzzled.

No of course he didn’t- terms no such thing as a Happy Good Friday . If he’d left it to Monday it coukd have been Happy Easter - and that encompasses bunnies, Easter eggs and whatever else religious or otherwise you want to take from it. Good Friday is of a totally different order and symbolism. He could have tweeted it without the word Conservative on and their logo and just about got away with it as just the usual jumping on the religious bandwagon but he turned the graphic of the Good Friday cross into a party political poster.
Anniebach - No - atheists do not classify Jesus the same as father christmas. Jesus is an historical figure. One, amongst many at that time and place, who saw themselves as some sort of saviour for their oppressed countrypeople (suppose rather like Farage now!!). Okay, maybe a lot nicer than Farage!!!
Yes, we would classify father christmas, the tooth fairy and god(s) in the same way. Along with Unicorns, etc.
I’m not entirely sure what the poster means. Where is it?
I didn’t mean the poster as in Gransnetter, I meant the poster, tweet, advert, or whatever it is.

I’m not offended - I don’t use that word - I posted it as an example of the utter cynicism of the present government in appropriating anything that suits them and that nothing is off limits. There’s been several posts discussing the difference between Good Friday and the other examples you give.

I’m not entirely sure what the poster means. Where is it?
It’s on Twitter and it means that the Conservatives have plumbed new depths
Thanks for the info suzie
