Mr Johnson and Mr Cummings

Demonic has suggested that Mr Johnson has been not entirely honest about his communications with James Dyson.

I recognise many people believe Mr J was ‘doing his best for the country in a pandemic’ when he offered to sort the tax for Mr Dyson. But, do we want ethical government or not?

I trust all here are squeaky clean when it comes to your tax returns and no jobs around the house ‘cash in hand’? People in glass houses etc.

Extraordinary remark

Just look at the long campaign against Boris.... Vexatious litigation; secret recordings of private conversations passed to the Guardian; staged confrontations at hospitals (Labour activists); no-deal contingency papers left lying in a pub.

The withdrawal of the whip (from utterly disloyal MPs), etc, was portrayed as democratic outrages with Hammond and Soames feted as martyrs.

Bercow tried to throw the PM to the wolves in the Commons (116 urgent questions!) but had his eye wiped as Boris gave his critics a kicking and the Labourites’ shrieking brought the plaster down from the ceiling.

Then it was Arcuri and Edwardes, false allegations perfectly timed for the Tory conference and the general election.

Since the election and the coronavirus hit us the Opposition haven’t stopped screaming.

When Boris got ill this time last year, you could almost feel their excitement and their hopes rising. Unfortunately for them he recovered, but not before someone - unbelievably - submitted a FOI request to try to find out how ill he was, as he lay in... intensive care!

That’s how low these people stoop. This is probably more of the same.

Johnson and Cummings are both disreputable liars without any shred of integrity or good character.

Cummings is said to live in fear of being jailed because of the lies and illegality which led to brexit.

Johnson is a narcissist who exploited his ability to pass himself off as a blameless bumbling idiot to achieve his ambition to become PM.

He is completely out of his depth, but seems to be able (according to some senior Tories) to be able to get away with anything. Why?????

varian Wed 28-Apr-21 18:53:32

What false allegations do you think Arcuri has made Ug?

Urmstongran Wed 28-Apr-21 18:59:35

Lord Geidt, the former private secretary to the Queen from 2007 until 2017, has been picked as Boris’ new ministerial standards adviser.

Urmstongran Wed 28-Apr-21 19:14:23

Hmm. Seems the BBC should apologise to Sir James Dyson for exaggerating and stretching the truth about his relationship with the Conservatives party.

MayBee70 Wed 28-Apr-21 19:20:36

What was false about the Arcuri allegations? Is she lying as well? Is everybody lying?

I posted Mr (Sir) Dyson’s article on the sleaze thread.

I think poor Ug is feeling a bit beleaguered.

It's hard work defending the indefensible. grin

Has this turned into a comedy thread?

Great script, Ug

Trump went down lying and still lying.

Johnson lies continuously and will eventually fall.

What ever is it that attracts you to such villains ug?

vegansrock Wed 28-Apr-21 19:41:00

I think it’s a case of the emperor’s new clothes that some are admiring.

Callistemon Wed 28-Apr-21 19:43:12

I'd like to know how much it is going to cost to reverse this refurbishment?

It doesn't sound as if it's to everyone's taste.

Urmstongran Wed 28-Apr-21 19:47:26

Well, I voted for Boris because he was the only one promising to Get Brexit Done. And he did. Hurrah!

I liked Trump because he promised to put America first. He was determined to MAGA. Bring home the troops from Afghanistan, put up a border wall against illegal immigrants (not legal ones - they were welcome) - look so many things I won’t rehash and bore you all.

Casdon Wed 28-Apr-21 19:48:11

Are the empower’s new clothes dark green with gold embellishment by any chance vegansrock? I agree Callistemon, not to everybody’s taste at all.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 28-Apr-21 19:48:12

What happened to the JohnLewis stuff it must have been practically brand new?

So if Johnson had £30k to spend but the bill came to £200000

Where did the £170k come from?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 28-Apr-21 19:52:31

John Lewis have a re-purposing/homing service for their furniture.
They are currently running a humorous Twitter feed alluding to No.11 Downing St.

Callistemon Wed 28-Apr-21 19:52:53

I can't believe I am confessing to this but in the 1960s we had wallpaper which was dark green with gold embellishment. blush

When we decided to paint over it, it proved impossible so we had to hire a robust wallpaper stripper.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 28-Apr-21 19:53:45

Mr.Johnson fulfilled his election promise, we have left the EU.

Whitewavemark2 Wed 28-Apr-21 19:56:08

Mr.Johnson fulfilled his election promise, we have left the EU.

Well whoopee! At what terrible cost?

PippaZ Wed 28-Apr-21 20:03:34

GrannyGravy13

Mr.Johnson fulfilled his election promise, we have left the EU.

So his job is done. Could we have an election now then, please?

Urmstongran Wed 28-Apr-21 20:07:30

Well it shows he was committed to his manifesto promise. ?

Urmstongran Wed 28-Apr-21 20:08:48

You might not like the result PippaZ as Boris is still ahead in the polls. Even today, surprisingly for some.

PippaZ Wed 28-Apr-21 20:48:29

This isn't a General Election so not a lot of use looking at the current polls. They are not even a great deal of use for the 6th May as it is a different election in different parts of the country and who knows what would happen if Johnson had to resign (not likely but more possible than I have ever seen previously) before the day.

PippaZ Wed 28-Apr-21 20:51:53

Only having one for a whole parliament is a bit lacking though smile
