GB News will attempt to shake up the broadcasting landscape when the news network launches its TV channel in early June.

The news service, spearheaded by veteran broadcaster Andrew Neil, has announced plans to go live on Sunday June 13.

In a tweet, the channel said it would launch at 8pm with a special programme, 'Welcome to GB News'.

I can’t wait!
????

Well I won’t be swapping from Channel 4 news. Diverse and in depth reporting from a talented multi racial team of men and women.

Right on ‼️

My argument with that channel is that some important news stories don’t get reported on.

Annoying in the extreme. I wait, check ... & nada!

They have an ‘agenda’ obviously.
It doesn’t match mine.

He may or may not have evidence Lucca which is why I reserve judgement on what is truth/ lies but there is certainly revenge on the menu by him, that’s what all this is about, wht he’s doing it.
It amuses me to say what I do ( Saint Dom) because all the posters who dislike/hate the government and used to call him all the names under the sun, now are hanging on his every word and nodding. Not you, I have to say but certainly a lot.

Slight exaggeration here. I've read the whole of the Cummings thread and no one amongst those who say there might be some truth in what he's saying, have liked him, let alons sanctified him.

Looking forward to it - every news show I have seen Andrew Neil on demonstrates that he does his best to stick it to both sides. Hopefully it will continue with GB News. As for the people thinking it will be like Fox News - don't talk wet, British viewers would not stand for that level of idiocy. I wouldn't even call Fox "News" a news show at all - its crass right wing entertainment. Some of us are sick of the biased BBC, Channel 4 and Sky - although I've noticed the Beeb are trying to up their game since the damning report about Martin Bashir came out. We shall see.

Yes Dinahmo. Where are all these posts Lemongrove refers to where posters even slightly praise Dominic Cummings let alone sanctify him??
As far as I can see we have either the “ I’m not listening to this awful little man who dares to criticise wonderful Boris..”. Or we have the “yes he’s an unscrupulous so and so but he knows what he’s talking about and has plenty of dirt to dish on Boris Matt and the rest.”

Oh please no! Self-opinionated, dogmatic old Tory men with little interest in fair and balanced reporting - what a waste of electricity!

This will be music to the ears of more extreme posters.

The French Version of Fox News called CNews is likely to drive up support for the facist party of Le Pen, with its emphasis on immigration, crime etc.

I’m sure many are hoping that the British version will drive up similar support for the extreme right such as we witness in USA and France.

JenniferEccles Sat 29-May-21 09:46:06

WWMK2 I see you criticise the Le Pen party in France for being concerned about immigration and high crime levels.

How dare they be in favour of tackling topics which worry many of their citizens.

Alegrias1 Sat 29-May-21 09:48:24

No, hang on - are you defending the FN and Le Pen?

We have crossed into dystopia, haven't we?

??. Whoops - unintended consequences?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 29-May-21 09:52:51

Or

Perhaps not? ?

Ellianne Sat 29-May-21 09:54:48

Great! I hope he brings Miss Molly with him.
She's a bit like the Nigel of Gardeners' world and has a calming effect on those being interviewed.

JenniferEccles Sat 29-May-21 11:54:28

I wasn’t specifically defending the Le Pen party, but I was struck by WW’s apparent condemnation of them by saying they are in favour of limiting immigration and getting tough on crime, which are issues concerning people in most countries surely?

Alegrias1 Sat 29-May-21 12:20:03

But I'm sure you are aware that this is how they become popular? Find the issues that concern the people and then, basically, blame them on "the other", instead of actually finding ways to solve the real problems.

Urmstongran Sat 29-May-21 17:05:21

Nah.
I think it’s simpler that that Alegrias.
I think the silent majority who don’t want to offend or be castigated will tune in. In huge numbers too.
?

Alegrias1 Sat 29-May-21 17:11:18

Not sure what you think is simpler than what Urmstongran.

I can't imagine that many people who will watch this channel are of the type who don't want to offend.

Urmstongran Sat 29-May-21 17:13:46

You’re joking right?
These days one can so easily offend someone. It’s getting bluddy ridiculous.

Alegrias1 Sat 29-May-21 17:15:55

Well, I've probably only been offended a couple of times on GN. Astounded by people's ignorance, speechless, angry.... many times.

But like I said, I don't think your average Andrew Neil fan is worried about offending anybody. Ever.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 29-May-21 17:38:20

Who are the silent majority?

Urmstongran Sat 29-May-21 19:20:58

I think if you have to ask WW you’re not one of them.

Alegrias1 Sat 29-May-21 19:22:10

Ooohhhh, is it a club that we don't know about?

First rule of Silent Majority; don't talk about Silent Majority...

Urmstongran Sat 29-May-21 19:28:10

You know.
It’s just that a few on here are the vociferous minority! It’s an echo chamber sometimes and the silent majority don’t join in. They read but don’t post.

Hmm. I wonder why?

Anyway, GB News is for them (and me).

?

Alegrias1 Sat 29-May-21 19:36:21

How do you know that the people who post on here who you consider the vociferous minority, aren't in fact representative of a quiet majority of people who don't agree with the aggressively non-liberal posters?

Because by your metric, all those quiet anti-liberals are scared of those of us with the defensible arguments. Shrinking violets, they are. I'm not convinced.

Its not my experience that the average anti-liberal thinker is backward in coming forward. I've been saying this on another thread, apologies for repeating myself.....I have a real sense that anti-liberals think they are being victimised, somehow.

Have I coined a new phrase...anti-liberals??

Kamiso Sat 29-May-21 19:46:38

Lucca

“ until he started a vengeful campaign for being sacked....now he is Saint Dom.)”. Why on earth do you keep saying this?
It appears to me pretty much universal opinion on here that DC is deeply unsavoury but he may well have evidence that proves Boris Matt Gavin etc were both dishonest and incompetent.

Exactly the point! He was a vile untrustworthy liar and now suddenly all the Boris Bashers will be hanging on his every word. Interesting!

Doodledog Sat 29-May-21 20:11:42

the silent majority don’t join in.

So how do you know what they are thinking?

Urmstongran Sat 29-May-21 20:19:36

Because we’ve had threads in the past asking members why they don’t post.
