Great! I hope he brings Miss Molly with him. She's a bit like the Nigel of Gardeners' world and has a calming effect on those being interviewed.
I wish he would bring Miss Molly on this thread and calm some posters down, the ones who are taking such pains to let us all know how much they despise Andrew Neil/ the government/ any Conservative voter, and how uninterested they are in the news channel.?
I am in no way a Tory but i have enjoyed watching Andrew Neil since i was about 13. I think the BBC have treated him, along with many others, appallingley. If i had a tv i would watch ! I will watch at work when i am there. The thing with Andrew is he is very knowledgeable and he doesn't thrust his views on you he is pretty neutral. I used to love watching him with Michael Portillo and Alan Johnson. It was his idea to sell council houses to tenants he proposed it to Thatcher. My stepdad would turn in his grave as a union/Labour fanatic but i think Andrew Neil is my most secret weird crush!!
“ until he started a vengeful campaign for being sacked....now he is Saint Dom.)”. Why on earth do you keep saying this? It appears to me pretty much universal opinion on here that DC is deeply unsavoury but he may well have evidence that proves Boris Matt Gavin etc were both dishonest and incompetent.
Exactly the point! He was a vile untrustworthy liar and now suddenly all the Boris Bashers will be hanging on his every word. Interesting!
With respect you have missed the point I made. Those who criticise the government (Boris bashers as you dub them) still think Cummings is an unsavoury character BUT he may well have evidence of the lies and incompetence of said government ! Not one person on GN has praised DC’s character or called him saint Dom.
My French teacher advised us not to believe anything we read in the newspapers was ‘truth’ only the date. To develop critical thinking listen and read high brow low brow right and left considerations Not to seek confirmation bias but diversity of perspectives and opinions. And to enjoy contradicting debate and argument, This was in the 60’s at Peckham Girls school.
My father used to take two papers; the one he agreed with and the one for 'the other side'. He said it was vital to know what 'they' were being told and were thinking. So, I hope all you who are getting so excited about a blatantly right wing 'news' channel will enjoy watching it, but that your resulting ignorance will help stop your gaining any more power within the country. Ignorance being spread intentionally is terrifying, whether from Chairman Mao's blind followers or the Krystallnacht revellers and their pals. Education and diversity of opinion being shared is crucial to avoid such blind sentiment. I too will tune in occasionally, to find out what 'they' are being fed now.
What a silly comment Anneeba sounds very much like spreading left wing ignorance to me. So I hope that you take another newspaper to your usual fare, or whatever you watch on tv.
Ellan You obviously skipped over the insult in Aneebas post. Or perhaps you didn’t and just wanted to have a dig at people who want to watch the new news channel.
I don't usually bother to engage in the political threads here. No-one is going to change their mind whatever I may wish to write. I broke my rule because the delight of the posters who are relishing this travesty felt, for some reason today, insufferable. I will try to stay true to my resolve in future; I must have been feeling at a low ebb to bother posting. Thanks Ellan however, I appreciated your comment.
Me to Sarnia on a daily basis too. With a smattering of the Daily Mail and the Scottish weekly, the Sunday Post, passed on to me each week by my stepfather. It’s good to read about the same story in different newspapers as it helps provide a balanced viewpoint. ?
