How fantastic does this woman look for 70 yrs of age? She's slim and extremely stylish, great hair as well and she wears stilettos! She's still working as a professor of English and she's the first lady of America. Not sure about the jacket with LOVE emblazoned on the back though. Apart from that my hat is off to you Jill! You're an example to us all.

FannyCornforth No offence taken, just my doubts and insecurities surfacing... ???

Why are women so critical of each other? If this were a forum of mostly men talking about the outfit, shoes, age, coloured hair, false eye lashes, weight of a 70 year old woman, we ladies would all be so offended and outraged.

To be fair, I think we are critical of men too! ?

At least none of them look too orange.

lizzypopbottle Fri 11-Jun-21 14:32:49

Calendargirl it was, "MrsL, your hair's sticking up, did you know?" that I used to get from my Year1/2 class ? and yes, I did know! I lost count of the times I tried to explain the concept of personal remarks to those little ones ???

My Grandma had lovely skin like Joe Biden when she was elderly, like squashy/soft. She didn't have botox. My Mum always said it was because she was diabetic (what on earth grin ! )

Much as I appreciate compliments myself and therefore wouldn't like any other woman to be done out of deserved compliments, I fully understand why anyone who has battled anorexia would object to women being praised for being slim.

As a university graduate I find it fairly annoying that the first thing the press can find to say of any woman is a comment on her looks or evaluate her on playing the part of her husband's wife well.

What about this lady's academic work?

And far from wanting to hear anything about Mr May or Hr Merkal if indeed there are any such persons, I would prefer to see male heads of states or governments paying political visits on their own, or accompanied by a wife who has been invited out of courtesy but who is not expected to play an official part in the proceedings.

The Love Jacket is by designers Zadig & Voltaire

Fernhillnana Fri 11-Jun-21 13:51:23

I like the “love” jacket!

theworriedwell Fri 11-Jun-21 13:51:17

Isn't his face a bit mobile for botox, I thought it gave you a sort of frozen look? Maybe that's if you have alot?

FannyCornforth Fri 11-Jun-21 13:47:08

Yes, he does look like a nice friendly man
I was just alluding to, in my opinion, he looks, as does Melania, like he has had Botox
I mentioned it really to make reference to the QAnon anecdote which I thought was interesting / amusing.

Beside the Bidens the Johnson's did not come up to scratch. The Bidens looked elegant and dignified as statespeople should.
Boris looked scruffy and crumpled, you would have thought his tailor could have done a better job. Carrie looked OK but could have dressed up a bit.

However that really is a sideline considering the importance of the G7 summit.

Joe Biden's face? He looks fine to me and he has a nice smile.

I agree, he looks a nice friendly man, smiley and happy.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 11-Jun-21 13:32:19

Apologies for extra however

GrannyGravy13 Fri 11-Jun-21 13:31:44

I think in the 21st Century both male and female should be able to wear/dress however they wish.

However there are appropriate clothes for certain work/social situations.

So far from what I have seen of the Cornwall Jolly both sexes appear to be smartly turned out

I really like words FannyCornforth I'm pretty sure I'm right about this one but I stand to be corrected (just in case...) ?

Oh Lizzie - I wasn't disagreeing at all; I was just thinking aloud (if you know what I mean!)
I'm currently on a one woman mission to cut down on disagreements! Particularly of the binary type! ?✌️

I am with you on the jeans also greenlady102

Sorry where does the but neither jeans or heels make us better more admirable people come from. ?

from the OP and from a comment about age appropriate clothing.

Calendargirl

A primary school teacher friend told the tale of a forthcoming parents evening straight after school ended.

She used the afternoon break time to apply some make up (I think she didn’t usually wear any).

When she returned for the last lesson one little darling said “Oh, Mrs. J, you look like a clown!”

?

grin grin grin that is classic!

Purpledreamer Fri 11-Jun-21 13:05:25

I think she looks amazing! And in the photo of her and her husband together they looked very dignified. Our PM wasn't quite on a par with them!

Fizzog is used in black country dialect too and I believed it meant face too

There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking good at any age, compliments always welcome.

Jill Biden looks fabulous.

Carrie Johnson’s red dress is by L K Bennet a brilliant British Fashion Store, the mustard one is available for £8 a day to hire from the same online wardrobe as her wedding dress.

As an aside I am never giving up my heels whilst I am able to walk elegantly in them.

and i don't blame you, I am the same about my jeans....but neither jeans not heels make us better, more admirable people

lizzypopbottle Fri 11-Jun-21 12:58:36

greenlady102 I'm never happy with the 'for her/his age' qualification, and everyone is free to dress however they like, but if Jill Biden had stepped out in a micro miniskirt and crop top there'd probably be judgements from all sides! (Same for Mrs Johnson, mind you...)
