Baby Wilfred at G7 - what do you think?

Boris and Carrie are adamant no one shows photos of the baby's face yet they have twice paraded him in front of the world's media, meaning his face has to be pixilated before the film can be shown. We know how much Boris loves a photo opportunity - he's rarely seen without a Hi Viz jacket or a white coat and please don't mention his early morning swim but I think it's wrong to use the baby as a photo prop. Plus if they are going to show him they could have put some shorts on him instead of taking him to the beach in a nappy and t-shirt (the baby not Boris).

But how would Biden manage without Jill - his ever present ‘minder’

Are you seriously suggesting the only choice is either nappy and T shirt or knickerbockers? I

He was wearing more than a nappy!
I was actually referring to what I thought the ridiculous and frankly outmoded suggestion of dressing her baby up to meet important people
When you live in No 10 you are not going to be intimidated by other government leaders! You are “important people” and even if you aren’t , those days are gone.
And for all we know Wilfred may still be breast fed, he’s just over a year isn’t he? Lots of women breastfeed up to 2 or older.
I was merely suggesting an alternative outfit- perhaps the other extreme.
But of course whatever they had done, they would have incurred criticism - but it is entirely irrelevant.

PS what’s wrong with a T-shirt and pants over his nappy on the beach anyway?

SueDonim Sun 13-Jun-21 20:57:37

I’m not interesting enough, Welbeck but I could post it on GN. Fame at last!

Now, THAT is truly bitchy, and very unfair.

MawBe Sun 13-Jun-21 21:00:57

Apologies, I was thinking of the barbecue pic, but equally t shirt and pull ups- if he is going to be sitting on the sand, it makes sense!

Jabberwok Sun 13-Jun-21 21:05:42

I really don't think Wilfred is going to get seriously upset in the future by an ancient faded photo of him sitting on a beach in a T-shirt and nappy/knickers,being cooed by two ladies, one of whom is his mother. I doubt anyone world wide is or ever will be even faintly interested and certainly not reproving. Most people think it's a lovely photo of a sweet baby. I think his hair might embarrass him more in the years to come.

Some nasty comments on here from the Boris Johnson Fan club

I am most certainly not in any Boris Fan Club, especially having voted for Mark Drakeford recently ?, but I do hope I can keep a sense of perspective about what matters, what does not and unnecessary irrelevance and spiteful remarks about an innocent child and his parentage.

Alegrias1 Sun 13-Jun-21 21:12:46

Nobody's said anything spiteful about the child.

You can see where false news comes from, can't you?

Callistemon Sun 13-Jun-21 21:22:22

Bringing Wilfred is a ploy
using the baby as a photo prop
He should be wearing shorts
it looks undignified to appear in public without shorts on
His hair?
Perhaps that was the other thread.

People criticising Boris but using the child as a means to do so.

Lucca Sun 13-Jun-21 21:24:33

Where are the so called spiteful comments about the BABY ???

About his dad yes indeed, there is criticism. But that is no more deserving of the word “spite” or “venom” than the H and M threads…..can’t have it both wAys !

Lucca Sun 13-Jun-21 21:25:24

The shirts comments are just ridiculous so they don’t count !!

Lucca Sun 13-Jun-21 21:28:41

Shorts, not shirts.

Lillie Sun 13-Jun-21 21:30:47

if you cant choose what your baby wears for a photo on the beach then what can you choose?
cut the mother some slack.

Commenting on how a parent treats their child is not being spiteful about the child!

And everybody seems to like the hair!

This is just ridiculous, really.

I'm certainly criticising Johnson, for using his child...

Callistemon Sun 13-Jun-21 22:47:58

1, 2, 3

!

I’ve only just found this thread, and oh dear, there are some horrid posts. A thread about a baby too.

Lucca Mon 14-Jun-21 08:35:30

Seriously. Nobody is having a go at the Baby !!

I’m not for sure,

It's not about the baby, per se. You had one of the cooing over the back of its head threads somewhere else.

It's about the inappropriate use of the baby.

MawBe Mon 14-Jun-21 08:40:34

Did people have the same go at Tony and Cherie Blair taking baby Leo to a UN summit? Or introducing him to Bill Clinton?
And presumably Jacques Chirac?

Lucca Mon 14-Jun-21 08:41:00

Wasn’t there quite a lot of criticism of the photos of baby Archie?

Just saying!

Maybe they did? But not so much social media then ?
