One thing that Gransnet has taught me is that not all people base their decisions or opinions on facts.

To some, facts are of no interest, it's 'something else' that fuels their decisions and opinions. I don't know what the 'something else' is.

There was never one fact to suggest Brexit would be a good thing for Britain. There were many facts to suggest remaining was a good idea. So those who base their decisions on facts voted remain.

Those who voted Brexit cannot now defend it with facts as they do not exist - none have arisen since 2016 and none existed before. Anyway, Brexit voters aren't excited by or interested in facts. Remain voters are frustrated by this.

Remainers try to explain the facts to those who voted Brexit, but of course, they are not interested in facts.

For remain voters to convince Brexit voters that we are in a right mess they will have to use something other than facts. A bus painted with lies perhaps?

Get on with life as it is. Covid is stopping a lot of deliveries, as well as EU Red tape bolshiness. Oh and by the way my dentist is Polish!

I voted to leave.. My reasons were financial.. Fed up with Britain funding 2 lots of parliment, 2 courts, funding whole countries going bust. Other EU countries not following the rules but expecting Briatain to... I could go on and on.. and show evidence... but I can't honestly be bothered, because some of you are just too bitter to accept that a larger number than you voted to leave the EU.

You've come up with a few (in your views) negatives but no positives. The benefits of being in the EU have been mentioned so many times that I'm not going to repeat them.

Covid isn't stopping deliveries where I live. I walked through the local market today - plenty of strawberries, raspberries, peaches, nectarines and melons to mention a few items.

I admit, I voted leave because I believed that the NHS would be receiving extra money, as someone that has relied on it since the age of 8 I worry to hear all that is going wrong with it but now when my GP is telling me the practice is worried that the supply of insulin and all my other medications could be held up, I so wish I had voted stay.
I voted for what I thought was a good thing just to find it was one big lie and I feel so stupid for falling for it

Railman, I do understand Briatain didn't actually fund 2 parliaments by themselves and the other states were involved. I found your post interesting and now in the cold light of day agree with you.

I think the EU got too big, there was too much infighting, it became like a monolith in its own right. I think the people elected forgot the prime directive.

Nigel Farage being voted to represent Britain was madness and he did us no favours what so ever.

I am also very aware that Boris was very misleading, and mismanaged and gave us false information about leaving the EU.

But Britain, must move on and start producing more home made products, instead of shipping them in from countries that don't want to improve Earth's climate problems or care about human rights. We also need to find a way of working in harmony with the EU.

I don't know what your problem is with the EU, Lilyflower. We have left, we are now a 'third country' and the rules for EU relationships with third countries now apply to the UK. We seemed to be perfectly happy with them when we were on the inside. We even insisted that some of them were made, like the purification of third country live shellfish before import to the EU, which has adversely affected our shellfishers who previously had a thriving trade with other EU countries.

What did you expect to happen when we left? Did you think that none of the third country rules would apply to us? Did you even know that there were different rules for countries outside the EU?

sparkynan, I think most "remain" voters would agree that reform was needed within the EU. Most of the people I know, felt that change was possible - indeed imminent- we can't change it from the outside.

The EU was ready for reform. Lots of member countries felt so, it would have taken some time to do but ultimately would have led to, I believe, a much much better situation. Instead, we are totally out of the group, and they have bound more closely together.

Unfortunately, successive governments have blamed the EU for things that were really the UK government's failings, and conversely they have patted themselves on the back and "shouted about" their own achievements when actually most of the good things have come about because of EU treaties and rules.

Jeez I can't believe you still think we wouldn't have had our vaccines if we'd stayed in the EU.

Everyone I know in France has been vaccinated! We have to show our vaccin certificates to go to lots of places now.
How can anyone believe that only the UK got the vaccin is unbelievable!!!

This is the politics thread. We are all on here with our political stance. That's kinda the point isn't it?

We must never contradict anyone who says we need to get over the biggest mistake in politics during our lifetimes. They are as entitled to their opinions as we are, even if the opinions are based on nothing but fairy stories. We cannot put forward our point of view because they get upset and feel that they must leave the forum.

We, however, are fair game for all kinds of put downs, assumptions and insults.

The difference now between the UK and some countries in Europe is that many are now vaccinating over 12s. They are also offering incentives. Lots of people in the UK appear to be anti vaccinating children so not sure if that will change any time soon.
