David Ames MP stabbed multiple times

What a terrible thing to happen. It’s beyond awful. He was simply doing his job.

Another senseless murder. Absolutely shocking.

How awful ! So sad , my thoughts are with his family.

Horrendous - I despair.

Oh what dreadful news. I can't believe that something so awful has happened again. Poor man, poor family,poor daughter and prospective son in law, just appalling.

Such dreadful news and shows how vulnerable our politicians are as they go about their constituency business.

This is terrible. Just doing his job. One of my neighbours has a daughter who is an MP we often see her and her children visiting - she was terrified when Jo Cox was murdered - I don't bear too think how she is feeling now. Her mum was so proud when she was elected, I think she'd wish she'd give it up now. I know she gets some disgusting hate mail and threats.

So shocking! How awful. Poor man, just doing his job, trying to help people.

An atrocious act of violence.

Just so awful and shocking. Tragic that it seems society is becoming so polarised - and so much hatred. Is there any information about who and why?

He’s my MP here in Southend. He was a great constituency MP. He often attended my choir concerts and was present at many other local events and he often knocked on my door at election time and was very friendly although I told him I wouldn’t vote for him. He was an animal lover too which is always an indication of a decent person

I’ve just heard on the news that the man arrested was a Somalian national.

I have just seen this having been out all day.
