Oh, look. Guess who took a private jet flight from COP26 to London (and back) to attend a private dinner.

Title says it all really.

Johnson's Green conversion didn't last long 400 miles for dinner with an old mate...

Now why am I not surprised?

Dianehillbilly1957 Fri 05-Nov-21 14:07:58

And the super rich blasting through the ozone into space, one rule for them another for every other poor bugger just trying to do their best!

HAs anyone watched the video I posted?

That's the sort of PM I'd like to be leading our country.

Yes. What a powerful speech. She is a serious and responsible politician which is the type we sorely need.

Subi Fri 05-Nov-21 13:44:56

To provide a balance, most of the leaders need tight security, huge fleets of cars would be very damaging and road closures and diversions costly.

Here we go yet another ‘Boris Bashing’ thread by the usual posters.

And here's another Boris Basing from a not so usual poster. The man deserves it.
He's the most repugnant snake in the grass I've ever had the displeasure to stumble across.

For info, there isn’t a decoy AF1. There are support planes carrying staff, equipment etc. When the president is on normal official duties he is on AF1. If he’s going to ‘dodgy’ places he’s likely to travel on smaller aircraft, incognito.Personally I think that heads of state are on tight schedules so would need to travel quickly. If that’s what it takes to get them to these important events then fine. As long as they then take action in their respective countries. In the scheme of things aviation isn’t a huge contributor to climate change. How many people moaning are purchasing products that have been imported? How do they think they’re getting here? Before we criticise others are we all carbon neutral? We all play a part in this terrible catastrophe and really should look at ourselves first before we start throwing stones from our glass houses.

Sheilasue Fri 05-Nov-21 12:29:42

Typical, doesn’t surprise me.

AJKW Fri 05-Nov-21 12:22:50

We are expected to save the planet whilst those with wealth use us as their carbon offset.
The behaviour of the elite has in fact made me lose complete interest in saving the planet. I can’t even be bothered to recycle anymore!
Had enough of the preaching by the irresponsible.

Cossy Fri 05-Nov-21 12:13:57

Absolutely no surprise here ! This cabinet is full of personally wealthy hypocrites who care about nothing or anyone bar themselves !

MaizieD Fri 05-Nov-21 12:13:33

I was wondering where to put this.

The Prime Minister of Barbados' speech to COP26. One very impressive lady, I think, fighting for countries around the world who are in the frontline of devastating climate change.

Posted by Richard Murphy on his blog, but it could be found on Youtube

I have said it before and I will probably say it again, but the vast majority of politicians are complete W⚓️s

BlueBelle Fri 05-Nov-21 11:58:25

I think the children who are deemed to need teaching know and care far more about climate change than this complete waste of oxygen government
Johnson and the awful Rees Mogg are cartoon characters who are only bothered about themselves and being ‘jolly good fellas’ They are an utter disgrace but some people still defend the indefensible
The royal family are barely any better

How far is it from Windsor to Sandringham?

In Vanuatu we were speaking to the people, not members of the government. But what would they know ? The Guardian must be right, as always.

I haven't a clue who's right. I just remembered reading that article.

I think if you asked people in the street in the UK, they'd possibly say the same as the people of Vanuatu, but I wouldn't necessarily think they knew what they were talking about.

Calistemon Fri 05-Nov-21 09:25:34

My DD was elected environmental team leader at primary school

Sorry, I should have said my DGD just a couple of years ago.

It is disheartening

He said it was because he had work to do. And yet, when on holiday he said because of modern technology he didn’t have to be ‘in the office’ to do his job. He really thinks we’re stupid doesn’t he.

Oh come on MayBee- he had to try and hush up the close links to the Patterson case- that was an emergency that couldn't be dealt with on t'internet! Because it is clear many are involved in this - including Carrie, Dodi, and more.

Grammaretto Fri 05-Nov-21 08:43:22

I completely agree Granny23. and find this behaviour truly insulting.
I lost both my DH and his DF during the lockdown and we were grateful to have any funeral at all (max 20) and as for weddings - several postponed.

There was a good tv programme (BBC Scotland) with an panel of "experts" and a Glaswegian studio audience. Several questions were on this very topic. but I doubt Bojo was listening George Mombiot appeared on a screen for his input.

growstuff Fri 05-Nov-21 08:13:47

Hmm! It seems Vanuatu's government doesn't think it's all a big joke:

nanna8 Fri 05-Nov-21 07:41:14

I have to fess up here about the times we have been to Vanuatu and asked about how climate change is affecting them only to be met with laughter and disbelief. They think it is something made up by rich countries for reasons best known to themselves, possibly connected with big business in some way. I started wondering …

Sickening.
And the children who are growing up into this mess are being given talks about it at school, as if they can sort it out, while the so-called leaders continue to act selfishly.

My DD was elected environmental team leader at primary school; it is sickening to think that taxes and pledges are only for us plebs to adhere to, whilst those who are supposed to lead cannot lead by example.

it was all taught when I was at school too. They have known for four decades at least what they were doing to the planet.

There was a lady from some Polynesian (I think) island on the television the other day saying how their island is disappearing and they have had no part in adding to the climate problems sad

vegansrock Fri 05-Nov-21 07:27:43

We shouldn’t bash ickle Boris should we? He’s sooo good at his job, never changes his mind or tells fibs, or if he does we should forgive him and ignore all the corruption, sleaze, incompetence…….

etheltbags1 Thu 04-Nov-21 18:21:35

I'm disgusted with the lot of them
