Oh, look. Guess who took a private jet flight from COP26 to London (and back) to attend a private dinner.

Title says it all really.

Johnson's Green conversion didn't last long 400 miles for dinner with an old mate...

Here we go yet another ‘Boris Bashing’ thread by the usual posters.

Excellent argument put forward here……?

Baggs

On the other aspect of BJ's behaviour (the flying), it is elites behaving like this that make me feel we are not in half as much danger from global warming as they would like us to think.

What!

Are you saying that they know something that we don't know?

Is it all part of a global plot to subjugate the populace? hmm

It's feasible - let's face it, from religion to the Cold War, the plebs have to be subjugated somehow.

No, I am not a climate change denier but it is another handy weapon for them to use, isn't it, to keep us in our place.

Sickening.
And the children who are growing up into this mess are being given talks about it at school, as if they can sort it out, while the so-called leaders continue to act selfishly.

My DD was elected environmental team leader at primary school; it is sickening to think that taxes and pledges are only for us plebs to adhere to, whilst those who are supposed to lead cannot lead by example.

As a former Tory voter I feel thoroughly ashamed of the antics of this party now.
Just a pity they aren't.

I understand that. I feel sorry for the decent Conservative MP’s that have been hounded out of the party over the past few years.

I think that is one of the saddest things FarNorth. Prescribing the children lessons on the environment and being good citizens, then most people in power doing the complete opposite themselves.
Learning Aesop's Fables in class would be more pertinent.

Gift of holiday has been added to the list I assume?

That's already been investigated.

That's not very fair. Avalon isn't a usual "Boris basher" and she was the one who claimed Johnson hasn't cared much about his children. I even tried to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He said it was because he had work to do. And yet, when on holiday he said because of modern technology he didn’t have to be ‘in the office’ to do his job. He really thinks we’re stupid doesn’t he.

He went for a dinner with journalists from the Telegraph. Of course he had work to do. He had to make sure they spun the Patterson Affair, and his desire to change to change the Standards scrutiny arrangements before his gifts and 'loans' are fully investigated, properly in his favour...

FarNorth Thu 04-Nov-21 14:45:08

Johnson doesn't care if we believe him or not.
As long as he gets his own way.

Maybee do you think any of them don’t think we’re stupid? We’re looked upon as the unwashed masses by them all.

It does make me wonder.

Growstuff says: But Baggs, surely Avalon is correct when she says that it will affect most those who have least.

Yes. As always.

Granny23 Thu 04-Nov-21 14:25:12

On a different tack - How many of us have, because of Covid restrictions over the last couple of years, missed out on numerous big 'occasions?' I am thinking about funerals, christenings, weddings, Golden weddings, 50th Birthday bashes and so on. These events have either been cancelled, postponed, downsized or involved breaking covid safety rules.

And yet our Lord and Master sees fit to leave the most important gathering ever of world leaders, to pop down to London and back for dinner with a friend. It is astonishing. What is even more astonishing is that many on here see nothing wrong with their Hero's actions. -shakes head in disbelief.

He doesn’t seem to have been bothered too much about his children in the past. Even denied one was his!

I was trying to be generous. hmm

growstuff Thu 04-Nov-21 13:43:20

Johnson probably does bother about his children's future, but they'll belong to the class who can afford to pay for scarce resources.

growstuff Thu 04-Nov-21 13:42:04

But Baggs, surely Avalon is correct when she says that it will affect most those who have least. If only a handful of people have the resources to fly and eat meat, etc. the situation resolves itself. Until the last few decades, most people couldn't afford to have cars, fly or eat beef. It's because people have generally become richer that there's an issue. Not only that, but the natives in places like China and India have become industrialised too. We're going to end up returning to nineteenth century life. I don't suppose the wealthy did bother too much about what they were consuming. They didn't have to bother until the plebs started wanting a share of the spoils. That doesn't mean that there isn't a global problem.
