Oh, look. Guess who took a private jet flight from COP26 to London (and back) to attend a private dinner.

Title says it all really.

Johnson's Green conversion didn't last long 400 miles for dinner with an old mate...

I completely agree Granny23. and find this behaviour truly insulting.
I lost both my DH and his DF during the lockdown and we were grateful to have any funeral at all (max 20) and as for weddings - several postponed.

There was a good tv programme (BBC Scotland) with an panel of "experts" and a Glaswegian studio audience. Several questions were on this very topic. but I doubt Bojo was listening George Mombiot appeared on a screen for his input.

He said it was because he had work to do. And yet, when on holiday he said because of modern technology he didn’t have to be ‘in the office’ to do his job. He really thinks we’re stupid doesn’t he.

Oh come on MayBee- he had to try and hush up the close links to the Patterson case- that was an emergency that couldn't be dealt with on t'internet! Because it is clear many are involved in this - including Carrie, Dodi, and more.

In Vanuatu we were speaking to the people, not members of the government. But what would they know ? The Guardian must be right, as always.

Calistemon Fri 05-Nov-21 09:25:34

My DD was elected environmental team leader at primary school

Sorry, I should have said my DGD just a couple of years ago.

It is disheartening

I haven't a clue who's right. I just remembered reading that article.

I think if you asked people in the street in the UK, they'd possibly say the same as the people of Vanuatu, but I wouldn't necessarily think they knew what they were talking about.

How far is it from Windsor to Sandringham?

BlueBelle Fri 05-Nov-21 11:58:25

I think the children who are deemed to need teaching know and care far more about climate change than this complete waste of oxygen government
Johnson and the awful Rees Mogg are cartoon characters who are only bothered about themselves and being ‘jolly good fellas’ They are an utter disgrace but some people still defend the indefensible
The royal family are barely any better

Neilspurgeon0 Fri 05-Nov-21 12:11:08

I have said it before and I will probably say it again, but the vast majority of politicians are complete W⚓️s

MaizieD Fri 05-Nov-21 12:13:33

I was wondering where to put this.

The Prime Minister of Barbados' speech to COP26. One very impressive lady, I think, fighting for countries around the world who are in the frontline of devastating climate change.

Posted by Richard Murphy on his blog, but it could be found on Youtube

Absolutely no surprise here ! This cabinet is full of personally wealthy hypocrites who care about nothing or anyone bar themselves !

AJKW Fri 05-Nov-21 12:22:50

We are expected to save the planet whilst those with wealth use us as their carbon offset.
The behaviour of the elite has in fact made me lose complete interest in saving the planet. I can’t even be bothered to recycle anymore!
Had enough of the preaching by the irresponsible.

Sheilasue Fri 05-Nov-21 12:29:42

Typical, doesn’t surprise me.

For info, there isn’t a decoy AF1. There are support planes carrying staff, equipment etc. When the president is on normal official duties he is on AF1. If he’s going to ‘dodgy’ places he’s likely to travel on smaller aircraft, incognito.Personally I think that heads of state are on tight schedules so would need to travel quickly. If that’s what it takes to get them to these important events then fine. As long as they then take action in their respective countries. In the scheme of things aviation isn’t a huge contributor to climate change. How many people moaning are purchasing products that have been imported? How do they think they’re getting here? Before we criticise others are we all carbon neutral? We all play a part in this terrible catastrophe and really should look at ourselves first before we start throwing stones from our glass houses.

Gwyneth

Here we go yet another ‘Boris Bashing’ thread by the usual posters.

And here's another Boris Basing from a not so usual poster. The man deserves it.
He's the most repugnant snake in the grass I've ever had the displeasure to stumble across.

Joesoap Fri 05-Nov-21 12:56:24

I agree with everyone, you coudnt make it up!

MaizieD Fri 05-Nov-21 13:23:12

HAs anyone watched the video I posted?

That's the sort of PM I'd like to be leading our country.

Subi Fri 05-Nov-21 13:44:56

To provide a balance, most of the leaders need tight security, huge fleets of cars would be very damaging and road closures and diversions costly.

Yes. What a powerful speech. She is a serious and responsible politician which is the type we sorely need.

And the super rich blasting through the ozone into space, one rule for them another for every other poor bugger just trying to do their best!

grandtanteJE65 Fri 05-Nov-21 14:51:51

Now why am I not surprised?

nexus63 Fri 05-Nov-21 15:30:20

the cop26 has been a joke, people coming in to prestwick airport then flying on another plane to glasgow (distance 22 miles), biden taking 24 cars to the dinner at the art galleries meaning people could not access there homes after work some needing medication (we have people who live in tenement housing above shops that lined the route). a nurse walking through a large park with no lighting. district nurses denied access to patients for daily medication and community care staff not being allowed in to feed/medicate and change there soiled clothing overnight. if any of the gms have home helps imagine not having them for a day or possible 2. the police have said sorry to the nurse who had to walk through a pitch black park. if anyone has seen the pics, the police were standng shoulder to shoulder, they could have walked people to there doors, some even in wheelchairs. those people are visiting to talk about climate change but still flying 22 miles or taking 24 cars to an event dinner that is lined by police and barricades....i pity the next city that holds this event.....ps i live in the west end....not the posh part, less than a mile from the event.

queenofsaanich69 Fri 05-Nov-21 15:56:29

All these people trailing around the world,Rome then Glasgow,it boggles the mind

Lesley60 Fri 05-Nov-21 16:57:44

They are all a bunch of hypocrites the government and the royals
It’s a case of do as I say not as I do.

Susieq62 Fri 05-Nov-21 18:09:13

I don’t understand why all of these leaders could not have discussed all issues on Zoom just as we have done with our town council , our WI, our choir, our book groups etc.
Simple!!!

Alegrias1 Fri 05-Nov-21 18:33:47

With all due respect, the future of the planet is a wee bit more complicated than anything a book group have to say.... ?
