I have to hope that the majority of Tory voters in the previous election voted 'To get Brexit done' because frankly any other reason is questionable. Does anyone vote to cut social services, slash funding for the poorest, less able in society, vote to cut overseas aid, sell off the NHS, give all public servants a pay cut, etc., etc.? Let alone vote for a man with the morals and standards of behaviour that are beyond most people's understanding.

Lincslass, I hope I never find myself in the position of voting for a man who promises to deliver what is important to me, but who I find loathsome in every other way, who will as a result of my decision, make life more difficult for the more vulnerable of society and who will trash the country's reputation just for the sole purpose of his own vanity. I know you voted for Brexit, but would you vote this man in again if there was an election soon? I am curious, not condemning.

Voting Tory. I didn’t in the last election because the policy was rubbish, IMO, it didnt make any difference because our MP was still returned with a 20k majority.
However if proper sensible policies are proposed I reserve the option to vote on merit regardless of which party.

Quite a lot did vote that way for that reason.Quite a lot more voted Tory so that Jeremy Corbyn couldn't get into power.
Neither reason will be valid at the next election which is why it will probably be a Labour win ( or hung Parliament.)

Just because Corbyn has gone doesn't mean that all ex-labour voters will immediately return to the party. Many remain deeply suspicious of the Labour party and what it stands for. If a change of leader can make such a transformation so quickly, who is to say that another change of leader won't mean a complete turn round again?

Of course I fully understand why staunch Labour Party stalwarts want to think that with Corbyn behind them and Boris in power, everyone will return to them, but I think they are being overoptimistic.

The biggest growing group in the electorate are the non-voters, who have turned in disgust from both parties and have just decided not to vote. i can see this group growing larger in the next election.

Despite all the gripes the UK did vote to leave and really what is happening was pretty predictable. You voted for it, suck it up and move on.

Re-reading your comment nanna8 I do wonder if something has been lost in my translation? I think perhaps you are saying ‘it’s done, get over it and on with it’. That would mean us all pulling together and those vehement feelings against Brexit mean this will never happen. Sadly I think some would still like the UK to be given a bloody nose by the EU and I’d even go so far as to say some people would like the UK to fail badly (at whose expense one wonders?) just to prove the point that we were idiots for voting for it and that the ‘grownups in the room’ (condescending or what!) would now have to put things right.

nanna8 it's worth knowing that some Brexit supporters like to paint remain voters as traitors who would like to see the country fail. It's worth remembering that the remain voters weren't the ones voting to withdraw from the most successful economic union ever conceived in Europe, and they're not the ones taking pleasure in the demonisation of our closest allies.

On the contrary! When I read posts such as this, I can see that some people who voted for Brexit can't accept reality. They're still living in their lalaland, where everything will turn out alright because they "won".

No, nanna8, nearly half of us didn't vote for it and I'm not going to be told to "suck it up". Nevertheless, I'm grown up enough to accept the situation we're in and to make the best of a bad job, but I'm never going to accept the idiotic pronouncements of people who are so blinkered they can't see what they've done.

When have things been “going well” for Brexit ? - no wonder we aren’t quiet. Could reverse it - Brexit voters will never admit anything bad is a consequence of Brexit - it’s always blamed on something else - the EU, Covid, remainers etc

Why would we 'suck it up' (talk about imflammatory language!) - when it is an unmitigated disaster- and the final version can still be influenced - as we still don't know what Deal, or possibly NO Deal, we will en up with?

None of us have any idea yet what form it will take, as Frost, Johnson and Co, the ERG/Spartans- are still not accepting THEIR OWN DEAL - the one THEY negotitated, called the best ever, oven ready and signed ...
