To turn up looking like a tramp is showing clear disrespect to all the fallen.

It is funny or clever, it is a disgrace.

Personally I think he looks a right mess and he really should do something with his hair. There are plenty of hair products on the market - he should make use of them. He has no pride in the way he dresses or presents himself - he’s a bit of a slob really.

Totally, but that does not really bother me that much.

His absolutel lack of moral compass, humility and honesty- is MUCH much more serious imho.

I had missed that 'joke' from Johnson, if anyone thinks that actually was a joke and not a clear statement of Johnsons view of women, then they dont understand Johnson at all. A deeply deeply damaged man.

You’re not wrong. His childhood was utterly bonkers. I don’t think anyone could have come out of it unscathed and well rounded.
The man has issues

As I said upthread, I’m sure that his deteriorating physical appearance is something psychological.
I don’t think that he used to look this awful.

I’ve just googled when Johnson was mayor of London. I’ve scrolled through dozens of images and he looked absolutely fine.

I would have thought that the things he’s had to deal with since becoming PM would bring anyone to their knees.

westendgirl Thu 18-Nov-21 13:38:25

I'm sure you remember his report from Eton:
"I think he honestly believes it is churlish of us not to regard him as an exception, one who should be free of the network of obligation which binds everyone else."
I think the question should be how on earth did the Conservative party think he was an appropriate candidate for Leader. His previous careers showed that he did not have the qualities necessary to lead a country.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 18-Nov-21 13:55:49

His previous employer Hastings warned the Tory party against him.

I quite agree Shep. I don’t think that he’s ‘in a good place’ at all.
I don’t think that he was ever capable of being PM. He is well out of his depth.
I’ve told this story before on here: on the morning of the Brexit result, I cried, not because of Brexit, but because I was terrified of Johnson becoming PM.
Everything about him seems very conflicted: he is desperate to hang onto power (I was genuinely surprised when I read those reports saying that he wanted to outdo Thatcher’s run), but simultaneously doesn’t seem to want the job at all.
It really is like some Greek tragedy.
There is something incredibly chaotic about him

I never aim to upset anyone and I apologise if my post has done so.

Oh, Scones, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it as a dig at you. I was just speaking from past experience.

Scones Thu 18-Nov-21 15:09:10

No need to apologise at all *MaizieD" I didn't take it as a dig at all and knew exactly what you meant.

So would I GSM !
Plus the fact that he’s not a spring chicken.

Kali2 Thu 18-Nov-21 15:40:07

He is in his mid 50s FGS...

lemongrove Thu 18-Nov-21 15:47:54

I think he’s 57/58 ....not young at all.

westendgirl Thu 18-Nov-21 15:48:09

Oh come on Lemongrove, he's not old in terms of age for P.Ms in this country.
Churchill was 80, and Margaret Thatcher 65,Teresa May 62,Gordon Brown 59.
Can you not accept that Johnson is not and never will be good PM material ?I suspect that the majority of the Tory MPs know this and are getting ready for a switch.

thatcher 62,Teresa May was 62.
Can you not accept that Johnson is not PM material ?

westendgirl Thu 18-Nov-21 15:48:56

Dont know what happened there but the message is intact !

JaneJudge Thu 18-Nov-21 15:50:55

I work with a lot of men in their 50s (and I'm married to one) who haven't had the privilege Johnson has had and none of them look as old as him (or as scruffy) or as miserable

lemongrove Thu 18-Nov-21 16:01:40

That’s very funny Westendgirl as I have never said (or thought even) that Johnson is PM material. If you can find it on GN I will post you a tenner.
He isn’t old but is past middle age and not the fittest I should think. Given that he has had Covid himself and in ICU last year, has had to deal with the pandemic, Brexit and a new young family....
That being the case, I cut him some slack, but as I have just said on another thread, he was voted in to foil Corbyn and get on with the Brexit process.I doubt many though he would be a wonderful PM, and will be gone either at, or before the next GE.

westendgirl Thu 18-Nov-21 16:06:00

I think that the long knives will already be getting sharpened.I cannot see the Tory party having any qualms about giving him the push as soon as possible.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 18-Nov-21 16:06:35

Well Jane, do any of them have the responsibilities the PM has at present?

lemongrove Thu 18-Nov-21 16:18:24

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

Alegrias1 Thu 18-Nov-21 16:20:20

Despite what he thinks, he's not actually World King.

JaneJudge Thu 18-Nov-21 16:20:45

Well a lot of them live away from their families and one has just lost his Mother. Lots of people have the pressure of responsibilities that they haven't even chosen.

lemongrove Thu 18-Nov-21 16:21:41

No, being King would be far easier.

Galaxy Thu 18-Nov-21 16:55:30

Johnson has spent his life wanting to be PM, my guess is he had little understanding of what it entailed but I am not going to weep for him for that. It will end in disaster, it's very rare that it doesn't.

FannyCornforth Thu 18-Nov-21 18:34:25

I don’t know who said it, but it was along the lines of ‘Johnson always wanted to be PM, and have been PM, but didn’t want the stuff in between’.
And this was years ago
