It has been handled very badly by the PM if had acted quickly and reprimanded the perpetrators immediately and made them publicly apologise this would have not have snowballed
As for Allegra Stratton and those with her they should have been sacked immediately for gross misconduct
There are much more important things going on at the moment and this is undermining them

Much as I think the whole thing stinks to high heaven, I can understand why the police aren't investigating.

Food and drink might have been brought in by the attendees themselves. I'm sure No 10 has a substantial "works canteen", or whatever the posh equivalent is, so there would be plenty nibbles and bottles of wine to avail themselves of. The people who were in No 10 could say that they were there working. I'm sure late nights aren't unusual at No 10. The policemen on the door might not have been aware of anything different to any other night.

The people attending know they were doing something that wasn't allowed so I'm sure it was kept very secret.

Can’t be that hard to find out who organised “it “ and who attended whatever “it “ was. All should be named and shamed and given hefty fines at least.
Also, Individuals concerned should have the guts to make public apologies - otherwise we should expect resignations

It wouldn't be difficult to find out who the policemen or women were on duty at Number 10 on that day and get them to testify.

But food and drink would have been purchased and delivered. People have to sign in and out of No 10 so they would know everyone that was there that night.

I find it incomprehensible and rather depressing to listen to Tory voter's in what was Owen Peterson's constituency say they still intend to vote the same way in the byelection because none of this makes any difference to them.

I don’t think it would have made the more selfish members of the UK obey rules if the government had set a good example, but it would have stopped that group using the government as an excuse.

Bizarrely I think this debacle might save both lives and help the NHS.

Johnson is using plan B which he had previously stated that he was not in favour and in any case nothing would be done until the middle of the month.

He is using this as a dead cat, but it should benefit us all as early intervention has never been Johnson’s forte.

Well I think the party was in the library, with rope to hang themselves (or worse), and that the dangerous Colonel Mustard organised it.

Listening to the Foreign Affairs Committee questioning that Senior Civil Servant yesterday about why he went on holiday - and stayed away for 11 days during the Afghanistan Crisis. along with the Foreign Minister and almost every other senior person in the FO.

He was very apologetic, and with hindsight, realised this was a mistake - and said so several times. I was delighted when the Chairman turned to him and said It sounds less credible every time you repeat it. It sounds platitudinous.

I don't care what you think of Blackford, he is totally right here and I am sure has the vast majority of the population with him on this one:

I agree (about the 'found out' not about the 'finished') but there's a reason for the cliche that it's never the act that gets you it's the cover up.
