Boris and Carrie have just announced the birth of a daughter. No further news yet.

She definitely can't be Holly Johnson.

Totally agree. Poor child will have her friends parents singing Relax to her.

Bathsheba. That's a great name.

I wonder if she'll end up with those blond out of control curls.

I did see an interview with Rachael Johnson saying the females didn't get the blond locks that her siblings had.

Surely such a topic would be better off in Chat?

Or in the new News thread?

Can someone please explain why it's necessary to have a thread about this subject? I've never understood why hundreds of people take to their keyboards to congratulate someone that they don't know and who is almost certainly not going to read the comments.

It isn’t necessary. We CHOSE to talk about it. Anyone who doesn’t want to doesn’t have to ?

Gransnet itself isn't necessary, nor is Mumsnet, Facebook, Twitter etc.
People just enjoy using them.

However did we exist before ?

I could have put it under chat but when I posted it had only just been announced and the media described it as breaking news. Is it not news then? And you can chat under whichever heading the thread has.

Oh there’s room for more than one ( probably hundreds of them) and that particular HJ has mostly been forgotten about.
Holly Rose Johnson, how’s that for a lovely name ( sounds like an author.)tchsmile

lemongrove Thu 09-Dec-21 16:53:03

My favourite names for baby Johnson are: Angela, Carol and Holly.?Hmmm, I think I shall add Rose to the list too.

lemongrove Thu 09-Dec-21 16:51:00

Well said Baggs ????

Grandma70s Thu 09-Dec-21 16:28:49

Or Beatrice? I’ve just heard about a new baby called Beatrice.

Grandma70s Thu 09-Dec-21 16:27:54

How about Millicent?

Sarnia Thu 09-Dec-21 16:20:36

Obviously takes after her father already. Arriving right on cue to dilute the flak from the Downing Street parties.

Some disgusting comments. Any woman who has just given birth deserves congratulations, not hatred and disdain. Congratulations to them both.

Where, just where is the hatred? Or the disdain ? Definitely none for mother and baby.

TillyTrotter Thu 09-Dec-21 16:02:00

Lovely to see you posting today EllanVannin .
A safe arrival of a new baby is always good news no matter if the parents have titles like ‘The P.M.’ or not so it’s a “Congratulations” from me.

TerriBull Thu 09-Dec-21 16:00:46

I meant to add to add welcome to the new baby too.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 09-Dec-21 15:53:24

Well I think it’s good ‘News’ so pleased that a healthy child has safely arrived.

TerriBull Thu 09-Dec-21 15:49:54

EllanVannin

I hadn't known, but I hope both are well. A lovely Christmas present.

Welcome back EllanVannin, I'm quite sure I speak for many of us, we are pleased to hear from you.

I know a baby called Maevis. Names come back after about 80-100 years so I expect in about 30 years we will have babies called Susan, Barbara, Patricia, Sandra, Mary, none of which are popular at the moment but were all popular in my generation.

Aveline Thu 09-Dec-21 15:33:09

Time Gladys made a come back?

Josianne Thu 09-Dec-21 15:30:19

Wilf, Lillie and Dilly the dog.
Perhaps Carrie will write children's books?

Maudi Thu 09-Dec-21 15:28:40

I think it will be an old fashioned name my mil was called Winifred (bit too old fashioned). Wilf and Winnie ? or Maud

I like Violet.

Chat is my favourite, Dinahmo.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 09-Dec-21 15:28:08

Who cares what it’s under? It’s an item of news worthy of discussion and a chat wherever OP chose to post it.

I do wish that little girl a great journey in this world- but oh my, it's not going to be easy.

I don't see why. She will never remember a time when her father was PM. She is born into a well to do family and I'm sure she will be well looked after.

Many children face much worse than this little one. Any new life is a joy.
