And all his military titles have been returned to HM The Queen.

Alegrias1. The Yorkshire Ripper took the lives of 13 people , was found guilty and punished.

The slag heaps of Aberfan took the lives of 144 people, the guilty got off scot free.

You certainly know how to wield the knife, ?

Alegrias1 Sat 15-Jan-22 10:07:38

Yes I do Anniebach

And you know how to play the victim.

The Yorkshire Ripper killed 13 people while I was at school and a student. We were told not to go out walking on our own.

So your joke's not funny, I'm afraid. However much you try to shift the blame.

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 10:15:01

Not playing the victim Alegrias1 I was a victim . I didn’t shift any blame, I am free to make a joke about the use of the name of a county and you are free to make a joke about The Aberfan
Disaster.

I also made a joke about the use of a name of a Country.

I didn't see Anniebach as comparing Andrew with the Yorkshire Ripper, but as comparing the response of York at the situation he is in to their response to the deaths of those 13 people at the hands of a murderer. Not quite the same as Alegrias saw it.

Elegran Sat 15-Jan-22 10:33:30

I think everyone is aware that the titles of Dukes etc have very little connection with any links to the actual places named.

It wasn't me who thought Andrew was being compared to the Yorkshire Ripper. I saw somebody making a joke about the response of the City of York to being associated with him, and trying to make fun of it by bringing a serial killer into the joke.

Not funny.

I failed at Geography, where is Wessex

The royal Dukes used to own the land relating to the Dukedom but that is not the case any longer.

Defunct, no more!

Thomas Hardy revived the name for his books.

wicklowwinnie Sat 15-Jan-22 10:46:42

Well at least he didn't commit adultery.

Elegran Sat 15-Jan-22 10:48:07

Most of the peers are a long way from the source of their titles.

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 10:53:04

Thank you Calistemon , apologies to the people of York, it
brought to mind my husband at the time of the investiture of
Charles as Prince of Wales, and having to stand watch over lake
Vyrnwy when the Welsh army wanted to blow it up

eazybee Sat 15-Jan-22 10:59:15

Who didn't commit adultery?

Pammie1 Sat 15-Jan-22 11:33:33

Parsley3

The RF are not adopting the wait for the Sue Gray report strategy then.
Anniebach you are comparing him to the Yorkshire Ripper? Why? What do you know that we don’t?

I don’t think Anniebach was actually comparing Andrew to the Yorkshire Ripper. I think she was comparing the sentiment that he was tarnishing the reputation of the people of York, with that prevailing at the time of the Yorkshire Ripper. Not the same thing.

Where is Wessex indeed?

The late Marquis of Bath (the one with the wifelets) once stood as a candidate in an EU election representing the Wessex Regionalist Party.

I was canvassing for the Liberals in the marketplace of a nearby small town and I spotted him handing out leaflets.

He was wearing a multi-coloured jumper, shiny waistcoat and patchwork velvet trousers. He had long flowing hair and his beard was woven into numerous little pigtails.

When he handed me a leaflet, I asked him where Wessex was - AND HE DIDN'T KNOW!!

I told him I was not a Scottish Nationalist but I did at least know where Scotland was.

Needless to say he didn't get many votes and that was the last time I heard of the Wessex Regionalists.

Better late than never!

I don't feel all that sorry for the Queen, though. She must have known, or at least ought to have known, for years what her children and grandchildren were getting up to.

The time to curb any of them was many years ago, as far as I can see.

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 12:42:08

grandtanteJE65 no mother / grandmother knows everything their children / grandchildren are up to

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 12:45:00

varian I have something in common with that Marquis ?

Elegran Sat 15-Jan-22 13:09:46

grandtanteJE65 Did your grandmother know everything that you did?

Charleygirl5 Sat 15-Jan-22 13:09:55

I do not think he should be called Prince or Duke. Plain Mister should be fine.

I do feel very sorry for his two daughters- they must feel humiliated by their father's alleged actions.

Will Sarah stay with him?

That’s one of those posts that make
Me wonder what kind of gilded life the poster lives. Alternatively, maybe you don’t know everything about your children and grandchildren grandetante.
It’s also an unreal expectation that parents have the power to curb the behaviour of their adult children

Whitewavemark2 Sat 15-Jan-22 13:27:40

He has now put his daughter into the insidious position of being called as witness, presumably to say that indeed they went to the pizza cafe on the night he was at a night club.

What a charmer.

This woman Yorkshire ex resident of York wasn’t the least insulted by your quick wit Anniebach. I think it’s a ridiculous position for the York mp to take and is doing nothing more than jumping on the let’s kick a man when he is down bandwagon. These days it seems that accusation = guilt acquittal =got away with it.

For the hard of comprehension Prince Andrew is not facing a criminal charge and is NOT accused of anything that in this country is deemed criminal.

paddyann54 Sat 15-Jan-22 13:42:44

Grandmagrim Trafficking or using trafficked HUMAN BEINGS is illegal, criminal. But as someone said upthread he's not accused of bringing her here ...as far as we know .He DID know his friends were traffickers though and stayed freinds with them even after Epstein was charged .You know what they say about guilt by association? Run with the dogs die ?with the dogs

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 13:52:08

Thank you Grandmagrim the majority here have reached a verdict of guilty .
