Prince Andrew stripped of his HRH

And all his military titles have been returned to HM The Queen.

My general view of the Royal Family is that the whole lot seem to be Benefit Recipients (kept by the State), alongside being some of the richest people in the world. I would get rid of the lot of them.

So, Randy Andy has finally been caught out. Think he has a grand run for far too long.

The schadenfreude is strong with gransnetters.

Thank you, Elegran, I hadn't taken in the wording of the statement. The being stripped of his titles wording was in all press reports and I think she could have insisted on another milder.
I agree with Rosina's angle, and the more I read the more I think that the words 'assault' and 'trafficking' are out of place.

Iam64

I feel for Her Majesty, what a rotten backdrop to her year

Am I over thinking this but, do we take it the senior military and the Palace have decided not only does PA have a case to answer for but he’s bang to rights.

I've been wondering the same Iam64. Surely he's innocent until proven guilty?

What name as a private person will he be called in the court case, Mr. Windsor?

I'm not sure Anniebach, there is just something in George's demeanour that occasionally troubles me, whereas his sister is more than capable of doing the job already!! I hope he/she will be allowed to be their own person, monarch or not. Who knows?

I know just what you mean. George comes across as much quieter than his sister who certainly seems to have a feisty side to her. At least she doesn't have to stand in line behind her younger brother, Louis.

If you like reading and haven't already then have a look at The Queen & I by Sue Townsend. When a Republican Army win the General Election they send the RF to live on a sink estate in the Midlands. Hilarious.

He's still a Prince but just not an HRH.
No need to curtsey any more ?

Prince Andrew, Duke of York?

Alegrias1 Fri 14-Jan-22 17:36:06

Can someone please explain what earthly use the HRH title is, today, in the modern world?

Doesn’t sound like a ‘private person’, it’s still going to grab the headlines as a Royal, more than ‘Mister’.

There's going to be a lot of quick removal of engraved plaques round the place! My DH sings occasionally in the choir at St. George's Chapel Windsor and I get to sit in the stalls where the Knights of the Garter sit. On the back of each chair is listed the occupant's titles, so I imagine a few will be scrubbed off Andrew's plaque - if he even dares to sit in that seat!

I’m not particularly a Royalist but I felt very sorry for the queen this week. First of all she had to strip her favourite son of his Royal title and duties, and then she had to endure the revelations of the hilarity that went on at number 10 while she mourned the death of her husband. It’s disgusting - she did the right thing and set an example to the nation while her government’s motto seems to have been ‘party on dude’.

I could think of a few names !!

I’d like to know that too.

If you have low self esteem as a middle child perhaps it makes you feel important?

Elegran Sat 15-Jan-22 08:40:09

For a while he was The Spare, second in line for the throne. An important if lesser position, with the prospect of getting the Top Job, if his brother were to meet with an accident. Then Charles married Diana and had two sons. That was Andrew demoted two places, followed by further demotion when William married and had a family.

In his naval career, his seniority increased automatically with time, and he could expect promotion at intervals. After he left active service, he still kept acquiring honorary positions which gave him a chance to wear his uniform (all the nice girls love a sailor) and make public appearances in his role as Military Man, even if not as Action Man any more.

Now he has been demoted again. Not a happy position for a bear of little brain.

Calls have been made in York for Prince Andrew to relinquish his title of Duke of York, with the city’s Labour MP calling it “untenable”.

The demand by Rachael Maskell, the MP for York Central, echoed sentiments expressed by a senior councillor, Darryl Smalley, who said the association was tarnishing the city’s reputation.

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 09:32:07

They must have been distraught at the time of the Yorkshire
Ripper.

I hear the City of York don't want him either so he may be stripped of that title too. He is certainly paying a huge price for an evening with a 17 year old, but the higher their position the further they have to fall I suppose. You cannot afford to misbehave when you have such a lofty position in life.

Alegrias1 Sat 15-Jan-22 09:34:26

Annie I promised recently not to answer any of your posts and I've stuck to my promise.

But this latest one is just unconscionable. I've lived in York. Scoring points for your Royal obsession by talking this way about the Yorkshire Ripper is beneath you. How dare you?

"I'm the oldest child, I make the rules"
"I'm the middle child, I'm the reason we have rules"
I'm the youngest (in this case third) child, *the rules don't apply to me*"

In this case, we have the dutiful fourth child who (presumably) follows the rules

Anniebach Sat 15-Jan-22 09:50:29

Alegrias1 you have tried but failed to keep your promise , if at first you don’t succeed .

granys post brought to mind 1969, my husband was then in
uniform ,police, and a Welsh Nationalist, at the investiture of The Prince of Wales !

Parsley3 Sat 15-Jan-22 09:52:36

The RF are not adopting the wait for the Sue Gray report strategy then.
Anniebach you are comparing him to the Yorkshire Ripper? Why? What do you know that we don’t?

Yes, I might start making comical asides about slag heaps next.

(Someone report me. I think its below the belt too.)
