Shame the report being published and flight to Eastern Europe

I hope that when the Sue Grey report is published, the flight to Eastern Europe will not take place before Johnson answers questions.
I realize these European meetings are a serious matter and they have to be arranged in advance according to the time other misters are free but it seems he will be able to shrug off this report like all has gone before.

The PM is so rarely at his place of work. He is on TV news every night having spent the day touring factories schools, hospitals, building sites, anywhere far far away from his office.
I sometimes wonder if his colleagues want him out of the way or if it’s him who prefers to avoid his desk. Suspect the former. We are in crisis but he is never there other than Wednesday.
He has managed to avoid interviews on radio and tv for years, always another minister speaks fir him. Not surprising really because to be asked questions would require knowledge and ability to answer, and it’s debatable that he does.

eazybee Sat 29-Jan-22 15:47:29

Perhaps he is doing his job and going out to see what is going on, rather than hiding behind his desk as the civil servants do.

Coastpath Sat 29-Jan-22 15:58:18

I'm just trying to get my head around the concept of Johnson paying any attention to anything anyone says or does when he's on these visits.

Coastpath Sat 29-Jan-22 16:00:40

Here's the PM explaining how he operates.

Going by the catastrophic impact of his comments as Foreign Secretary over the case of Nazanin Zigarre-Ratcliffe, I am happier if he just bumbles about in this country wearing a hard hat, the prospect of him, or of Liz Truss speaking to Putin is terrifying.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 29-Jan-22 16:13:16

? element of truth I think

“Mood in Downing Street "bleak". Mandarins say PM's planned visit to Ukraine act of political desperation - "no more, no less". Shaming even from so shameless a politician.”

silverlining48 Sat 29-Jan-22 16:19:26

Do you really think thats his job. Seriously? In that case think we could all do it. Elbow bump anyone?

Whitewavemark2 Sat 29-Jan-22 16:21:53

The so embarrassing thing is that every single leader in Europe, well the world really will know exactly why he is doing it.

Absolutely humiliating

Following posters quick at the mark. That was to easybee .

paddyann54 Sat 29-Jan-22 17:13:13

He has a very good relationship with Russians...well SOME Russians, they have donated huge amounts of cash to the Tories and he made one of them a Lord....so we/you now have an ex KGB officers son at the heart of government .Now if he's in the pay of Putin is Bojo going to talk him out of invasion or offer help for him to do it? Money talks with him Bojo that is
Am I joking ,you decide .

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 29-Jan-22 17:22:30

After his humiliating and dreadful stint as Foreign Secretary, he is the last person who should be speaking to Putin. Johnson and his cronies have left the UK with no gravitas or dignity in the world of diplomacy. He should stay home and start packing.

I think he just likes dressing up. You always see him on these visits wearing hard hats, high vis jackets, dairy workers white coats and hats etc. smile We are a laughing stock on the world stage because of him and his antics!

Allsorts Sat 29-Jan-22 17:43:30

I want to concentrate on what’s happening now, not the past, that can wait. Our troubles are as nothing compared to Afghanistan, people selling children, of Russia’s threatening behaviour to Ukraine, the rise in NI for people already on the breadline. Think outside this bubble of news. Know people want answers, they can wait.

It is Health & Safety law in the U.K. to wear a hard hat and hi-viz jacket in any construction area, as it is to wear protective clothing in food preparation areas.

By all means condemn him for his rule breaking, but not when he is observing the law.

I think we all know that. The point is that he doesn't need to be there. Do you think he needs to be touring the country visiting
constructions sites? In any event no one's going to allow him to go near anywhere that's not safe. The zip wire days are long gone.

I am not a fan of Mr. Johnson, I am not defending him.

You only have to Google previous PM’s and all their visits to see that this has become normal for all PMs it is not something invented by Mr. Johnson or his advisers.

MaizieD Sat 29-Jan-22 18:06:29

Normal for all PMs?

I don't recall Theresa May popping up all over the place in high viz vests hmm

Grannynannywanny Sat 29-Jan-22 18:19:54

The photo op of him accompanying the Merseyside Police on a drug raid was an utter embarrassment.

Oldbat1 Sat 29-Jan-22 18:24:57

Ladyleftfieldlover totally agree.

Allsorts we are intelligent people, and it’s perfectly possible for us to concentrate on more than one news story at a time - only those want to pretend one thing hasn’t happened make comments like that, surely? Let’s talk about all the things that concern us (in fact we are doing so on different threads)?

Just a small sample of Mrs. May in hi-viz!

Casdon Sat 29-Jan-22 19:02:48

You can tell by what she’s wearing underneath the high viz that there are only three or four events! One thing you could say in Teresa May’s favour was that she had a distinctive style, so it’s easy to spot.

Quite apart from being a disgracefully dishonest, corrupt and incompetant PM. Johnson was by far and away the most inept, appallingly undiplomatic Foreign Secretary we ever had.

If you don't believe me just ask poor Nazanin Zadhari-Radcliffe.

Please don't let him ever speak to any foriegn leader. No good could come of it.

varian Sun 30-Jan-22 13:22:02

Another person who should be forbidden from talking to any foreign representatives is Liz Truss. I heard her interviewed this morning and she did not appear to know the difference between the Baltic and the Balkans.
