He was hosted by Russian Oligarchs in their 'mafia' mansions in Umbria, Italy. With a lot of wine, good food, women provided and probably a lot more. They probably have enough on him to blackmail him forever! Wasn't he stripped of his access to secret documents because he was seen as a huge risk of blackmail.

I’d like to see him go and be replaced by someone with integrity and an attention span who doesn’t see the job as giving him and his wife free reign to do as they wish. We had a thread about who that might be a few days ago and I’m not seeking to rehash it, but the way he has behaved has caused so many to believe that ‘they’re all the same’. They’re not.

Then those decent Conservative MPs should take a stand and speak up. Not a great fan of Theresa May but she has been one of the few to openly show her disapproval. There must be more?‍♀️

I think you are right Germanshepherdsmum, I’m not a Tory voter but there are some principled and caring Tory MPs, some of whom have felt so strongly about how Johnson has behaved that they have already stood up to be counted, which is a difficult thing to do and which they should be applauded for.
I hope the party are able to find a suitable, credible leader soon because it’s not doing the country any good at all being in the position we are at the moment. It shocked me when it was reported Johnson missed his planned phone call yesterday with President Putin because he had to defend his position in parliament. Things like that should never be allowed to happen.

I was impressed that Andrew Mitchell had the guts to stand up yesterday and tell Johnson that he no longer had his support. I know Mitchell’s past isn’t unblemished but I believe that once the police investigation is over, and regardless of‘innocent until proven guilty’, I have no doubt that Johnson will be found guilty of several covid breaches, then well in excess of the necessary number of letters will go to Graham Brady. I would be amazed if Johnson volunteered his resignation. The whole business is shameful and I can’t think of another PM from any party who would have behaved like this.

It is now getting so serious that our biggest institutions in the form of the the civil service, police and parliament are now reeling under huge hits to their credibility.

I'm thinking that Johnson is going to ride it out, come what may. They have no one to replace him and hope that his personality will help them through the next election. Can only hope that the electorate take a stand, although I have my doubts. I'm going to join the Labour party.

O’Brien just replayed Starmer’s reply to Johnson’s statement yesterday.

Listen to that and it begins to dawn on you how badly we have been served by our statesmen over recent years.
