As if there isn't enough evidence that Johnson is unfit for office

Now we read reports that senior civil servants and ministers were having to insist that Johnson works from the office and not from home due to red boxes, many of them full of highly sensitive information, laying about in the Downing Street flat, open for all to see including Carrie's pals and friends who were frequent visitors. It has been described as a 'Frat house atmosphere', with people in and out.

He’s making a speech today at the Institute for Government

Dinahmo Thu 10-Feb-22 16:25:45

His speech has been denigrated by the sycophantic Tory press.

Did anyone see the ghastly Carol Malone on Sky News ranting about Major just being bitter that Johnson had ‘got brexit done’, totally talking over the other journalist who was reviewing the days news. Even the girl from Sky News had to keep reminding her that that had nothing to do with the parties and that Johnson had lied about them. And when she mentioned Majors affair it had to be pointed out that Johnson wasn’t exactly squeaky clean in that department.

Typical of her. Can’t stand her.

I have lost all confidence in this government

varian Fri 11-Feb-22 18:04:37

Why's that Happygirl?

Nadine Dorries still has confidence!

I saw an old quote saying she regards herself as a conduit from God confused

Are we having to pay for the lawyers that Johnson has taken on in an attempt to prove his innocence?

Johnson now saying ‘You’ll need a tank division to drag me out of Downing Street’. That’ll be interesting.

Now that is something I am looking forward to see.

James Blunt – Musician (and ex Army Captain) tweeted:

Could all past and present soldiers of D Squadron please DM me. I’m putting something together.

Boris, your call smile

James Blunt has become a national treasure….

MayBee70 Fri 11-Feb-22 23:04:20

He’s also said that if they don’t get rid of Joe Rogan he’ll put all of his songs on Spotify….

So Johnson has received his questionnaire.

Undoubtedly his lawyers will complete it, in such a way as to avoid incriminating himself.

Whose paying for his legal advice?

And this man is leading the country! Dear oh dear.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 12-Feb-22 06:19:53

What a distance we have travelled - from the first lie in parliament “there were no parties” to “I stuck entirely to all lockdown requirements” to now

“Johnson being helped by his lawyers in swerving any criminal record by arguing a technicality”

Casdon Sat 12-Feb-22 06:31:16

I’ve got it Whitewavemark2 - it was his doppelgänger at those parties after all, the real Boris was actually locked away at Chequers diligently working away on government business all the time.

What is it these days? So many really poor leaders in so many countries, including ours in Australia. Aren't they paid enough? Do they deliberately choose incompetents who can be manipulated or what? I have always said the most successful politician around is Putin though, God forbid, that we should look for someone like him. Angela Merkel was good, too.

One of the most astonishing things is that, in their reporting this morning, the BBC are having to repeatedly say "He will be expected to answer truthfully".

This is the country we live in now.

They are trying to fix it by saying that his home is also his office so the rules don’t apply.

Why?

And are the questionnaires issued under caution? Or do different rules apply?

No I believe they are issued under caution

Whitewavemark2 Sat 12-Feb-22 08:51:02

Thank you I wasn’t sure

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 12-Feb-22 09:23:57

I wonder if people sent questionnaires will get together to fill them in so all the stories match? Wouldn’t be able to do that if interviewed individually.

As in copying each other’s homework suspect the police could pick up on this

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 12-Feb-22 09:37:53

That could lead to a charge of perverting the course of justice. Excellent.

That was my thoughts exactly.

They need to get their ducks in order and I’m sure the lawyers will gladly assist, so that it will be almost impossible to decide if they did get together or not.

That all presupposes that Cummings doesn’t have another surprise up his sleeve. Johnson is in so deep he might deem it worth trying to wriggle out if it with another bare faced lie; but if I were a junior minister with a long career ahead of me I’d be concerned about a perjury charge ruining my future.

Not an easy position for them to be put in, is it? An honourable boss would spare them the anguish.

Casdon Sat 12-Feb-22 11:11:14

My guess is that questionnaires won’t only have been sent to those who are known to have been present at the gatherings. If for example you think of the ‘bring you own booze’ event, the email invite went out to 100 people, but only 30ish attended. The other 70 are unlikely to toe the party line because they thought it was wrong to attend in the first place. Also, one or probably more people are leaking information to the media, and they no doubt have a group of allies providing them with information - and photographs. It’s a very tangled web, but ultimately the PM is a trapped fly.
