Worth reading before making assumptions etc about the report.

I really dont care to be honest. If they did then they should be fined like everyone else. No one should get their money back they broke the Law. Regardless of others that weren't caught which was a lot of people outside of Government. Including some of the people round where I live. Even if he resigns we will still have the same Government, he doesn't make the decisions all on his own.

Maybe we will have the same government, but at least the right action will have been taken.

*Sadly people that died had either underlying problems or refused to get vaccinated.*

The majority of people over 60 have an underlying health problem, but can expect to have a reasonable quality of life and life expectancy, sometimes with medical intervention.

Comments such as this suggest that the writer doesn't think such lives matter.

I agree. There’s a discussion going on on MN regarding how CEV people are going to cope after all restrictions are lifted in March. The lack of regard and understanding of what CEV actually means is breathtaking.

Is the MP's statement on tv at 3.30pm? Or where?

Kate51 Tue 01-Feb-22 13:33:14

I too have emailed Sir Lyndsey Hoyle to complain about the remarks yesterday by the PM about Jimmy Saville. I am disgusted by the lies being spouted in parliament and feel strongly something needs to be done .

Glad to see that the 'younger generation' has a clear view of what is right

Tweet from Mumsnet Towers this morning.

5,000 is a pretty large sample (and yes, I know they were self selecting). I just happened to make a rare visit and am pleased to say that my vote for Johnson to resign in in there grin

@MumsnetTowers

After the publication of yesterday's #SueGrayReport, we asked #Mumsnet users if its time for Boris Johnson to step down. We had more than 5000 responses, and 84% of our users said that the Prime Minister should resign #PartyGate

What a load of rubbish, do you actually believe he organised the parties or was it civil servants who are mostly remainers and still trying to undermine the government, he didn’t buy his own birthday cake, it’s getting pathetic and some on here have clearly fallen for the media bias . Try using some common sense, there are many more serious issues than silly little parties, have you heard of Russia?

I'm sure you know quite well that the issue is nothing to do with cake and parties. It's about dishonesty, arrogance and hypocrisy. If you're OK with those things, I guess you'll be voting Boris back in.

Well said Summerfly- all I can see is hypocrisy and hysteria- we have to move on - I have met Boris and am really not a particular supporter- however, those in parliament are showing such appalling self righteousness- It makes me feel quite sick- we employ human beings to represent us - with all their flaws and strengths. Think back - Theresa May - hardly a resounding success yet had the gall to stick the knife in - what on earth did she actually do - Responsible for the Windrush scandal - run through a field of wheat? - think - Gordon Brown- sold all the country’s gold to pay off debts- think Tony Blair - as written in a letter today in the Telegraph- took us into the Iraq war - broke up the United Kingdom - destroyed the constitutional balance of the House of Lords- ruined public finances and private pensions - remember the famous last words to George Osborne when he became chancellor - ‘there is no money left’ -
None of the previous governments had to deal with Covid - perhaps we could blame Jeremy Hunt for abandoning plans to prepare for a pandemic - he keeps carping on now - perhaps if he’d done his job properly - things might have been better? Boris himself had Covid badly- having had it badly myself, he probably felt rough and exhausted- as I did- I coughed for 3 months - the exhaustion was like nothing I’ve ever experienced- thank God I wasn’t Prime Minister. Yes - with Covid some things were wrong - But some were right - How many can honestly say that they didn’t break even the tiniest of rules? How many amongst those still working hard throughout had a drinks ‘party’ of some sort. I had a hospital appointment during lockdown- what did I see as I parked the car? A host of doctors nurses and various medical staff - all walking Through the car park, close together, ( but of course they work together)With bottles, presents, food - made me wonder if there were any staff left in the hospital- where were the police? Probably having a celebration of their own - We’ll never know will we? Nobody will investigate them -

Yes *Brownowl564" I have heard of Russia.

It is the country which appears to fund the Conservative party and used its legions of trolls to swamp social media with pro-brexit lies and propaganda on 22nd June 2016, the day before the fraudulent referendum.

Just WTF has this got to do with anything ? Whatever previous incumbents of number 10 have done, they haven’t brought the office of PM into anywhere near such disrepute as Boris. Maybe some of the public broke rules - it’s inevitable that a minority will - but that doesn’t excuse the people in charge, who MADE the rules and saw fit to treat the British public like idiots by paying them no mind themselves. How do you think that made people whose loved ones died alone feel ? Grow up - two wrongs don’t make a right.

What I haven't seen mentioned is how this is being taken by the anti-vaxxers who are now gathering more supporters because of the lax way that those in government/civil service acted (from a "they knew it wasn't serious" POV). It also undermines any future government attempt to restrict movement if a more dangerous variant (of Covid or anything-else) emerges - the British public will simply ignore anything Johnson says.

CarlyD7 Tue 01-Feb-22 14:06:09

Why aren't I surprised by all this? Because it was widely known that Johnson is lazy, irresponsible and a liar (he was sacked from The Times for lying). A list of his more well-known lies can be found here: www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/dec/10/lies-accusations-boris-johnson-full-list-dishonesty-christmas-party

Luckygirl3 Tue 01-Feb-22 14:18:34

Is there anybody on this site who truly believes that BJ is not a liar and a cheat? The evidence is irrefutable.

Given that it is entirely impossible to believe that BJ is an honest man with integrity, how can anyone seriously want him to lead our country?

Forget the cake - look at the absence of integrity.

You’re doing well HolySox, but all to no avail I think with this crowd. Sheep come to mind.

How terribly, but predictably rude.

Boris Johnson is a racist - proven by his own words.
Boris Johnson is a misogynist- proven by his own words
Boris Johnson has no respect for the law - proven by his actions

Johnson and his Cabinet cronies are completely lacking in integrity. It disgusts me to hear them all defending the indefensible.

It disgusts me to read posts on here from people who, I assume, would be ashamed if their husband/brother/son was a serial liar, sneered at those who trusted him, threw slanderous accusations around to deflect from his own moral failings. People who support this man are just as guilty as he is in my eyes, for like Johnson, they don't care what price others pay as long as they get what they want. Brexiteers it seems will believe anything .

StoneofDestiny Tue 01-Feb-22 14:44:24

Exactly.

Even after stepping up in front of the CBI and talking about Peppa Pig and comparing himself to Moses, the shameless wonders cannot even bring themselves to criticise his behaviour and ineptitude. He is a cross between Berlusconi and Trump - and how we laughed at them and their electorate.

I’ve just watched the cringeworthy interview Nadine Dorries gave yesterday afternoon. I actually felt embarrassed for the foolish woman. She’s completely out of her depth and shouldn’t be allowed in front of a camera.
www.channel4.com/news/the-prime-minister-tells-the-truth-says-nadine-dorries

Is this the interview where the reporter kept interrupting her as she wasn't giving the answers he wanted? He kept asking 'loaded' questions. Her responses were correct - particularly where she challenged the notion of 'parties'. Staff at No. 10 weren't there socialising, they were there doing their jobs - to protect us. Unfortunately they seem to have a culture of drink within the workplace that has lead to sensationalism by the press.
Partygate? Pettygate I think.

Nonsense. A perfectly valid piece of interviewing. I watched with a friend of different political persuasion and we BOTH found Dorries excruciating.

Why is Starmer trying to look as uf butter wouldn't melt in his mouth? There were pictures of him and his cohorts drinking at 'a works meeting'!! Can't trust any if them regardless of party colour, only in it for themselves. Pity the whole lot don't get on with governing the country.
