Worth reading before making assumptions etc about the report.

Johnson to make a statement to MP’s at 3:30 this afternoon.

Urmstongran Mon 31-Jan-22 12:58:54

I will tune in. Thanks Avalon.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 31-Jan-22 12:59:37

That should mean that he will release it for perusal by opposition etc at least an hour before his statement.

Heard on r4 this morning that they are hoping the delay in producing the famous Sue Gray report will dampen down calls for bj’s resignation.

Kali2 Mon 31-Jan-22 13:23:38

I'd rather see this report. A lot more relevant

It seems that it is as we expected.

The report will tell us very little, and the stuff that has been redacted because of police request will probably never be published.

Johnson has wriggled free again.

Kali2 Mon 31-Jan-22 13:50:19

It is up to us all we make sure he does NOT. Put the pressure on, everywhere we can.

And make sure the above is shared widely. Would make Prince Andrew look like a Choir Boy

How vulgar and trashy.

Casdon Mon 31-Jan-22 13:59:52

I don’t think it’s good news for Johnson at all that so many of the incidents have warranted police investigation. That’s an indication that there is enough evidence to confirm they happened, so he won’t be able to wriggle off any hooks as he is ultimately accountable.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:03:38

Peston is reporting that Sue Gray has indicated that what Johnson has received is simply an “update” whatever that means, and not the full report.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:11:08

Mr. Johnson has been in Essex this morning, did Ms. Gray rush the report down here to him?

AGAA4 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:12:58

With or without the report much of the country has lost any little faith they had in Johnson making his position untenable.

Johnson was grinning when he mentioned the report. My immediate reaction was that he knew the Met had enabled him to bury this story in the short term.

Riverwalk Mon 31-Jan-22 14:15:48

Let's not forget that the investigation was originally supposed to be undertaken by Simon Case, Cabinet Secretary, but he had to recuse himself as he'd been partying!

There was certainly a smirk on his face this morning.

The policewoman who’s over the police investigation is Cressida Dick’s partner.

Kali2 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:22:18

And the other Met's officer involved, Bas Javid- yes, his brother.

(wasn't incest mentionned on another thread- more apt here methinks.).

Just being read on BBC

Petera Mon 31-Jan-22 14:32:06

Paragraph 14 reads (groan)

^As a result of the Metropolitan Police’s investigations, and so as not to prejudice the police investigative process, they have told me that it would only be appropriate to make minimal reference to the gatherings on the dates they are investigating. Unfortunately, this necessarily means that I am extremely limited in what I can say about those events and it is not possible at present to provide a meaningful report
setting out and analysing the extensive factual information I have been able to gather^

Urmstongran Mon 31-Jan-22 14:34:45

Seems Boris is off the hook. Other officials and managers in No. 10 are in the spotlight. Sue Grey has passed other information gathered to the Met Police.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:35:44

So all but four if the “gatherings” are being investigated by the police.

Only if he is someone without honour and integrity.

So the stuff we’re not allowed to see warrants a police enquiry…
