Worth reading before making assumptions etc about the report.

Alegrias1 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:42:32

If the report talks of failures of leadership and judgment by different parts of No 10 and the Cabinet Office, and the person who leads No 10 and the Cabinet doesn't thinks it was anything to do with him...

Well, I'm speechless. We have fallen to new lows.

Seems Boris is off the hook. Other officials and managers in No. 10 are in the spotlight. Sue Grey has passed other information gathered to the Met Police.

Only if he is someone without honour and integrity.

Seems Boris is off the hook

Why do you come to that conclusion?

Urmstongran Mon 31-Jan-22 14:43:17

Sam Coates on SKY is so excited he can hardly get his words out!

Mamie Mon 31-Jan-22 14:43:48

Very far from off the hook. Sue Gray's report is damning I think, if you read between the lines. The list of 12 gatherings referred to the Met includes the Downing Street flat. That leaps out at me.

Urmstongran Mon 31-Jan-22 14:45:58

No, I don’t think it involves the flat, that’s why it’s in the report. Anything ‘actionable’ has been sent to Cressida Dick.

MayBee70 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:46:30

Yes. Very critical/ incriminating. Let’s see what the 1922 committee do now!

Gwyneth Mon 31-Jan-22 14:46:40

Wasn’t it Labour’s Wes Streeting (Shadow Secretary for Health) I think, who demanded that the Met investigate in the first place?

Parsley3 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:46:51

No wonder he is grinning. Wait for the Sue Gray report will become a modern saying along with Going to Barnard Castle. We are being taken for mugs.

Well you gave me the choice between 'Boris is off the hook ' or ' Boris is a man of honour and integrity'. It was a tough call.

‘Nothing’ I think MayBee.

? I’m a bit slow today.

And let’s remember, the report has been redacted at the request of Cressida Dick.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:53:44

So a “do” in the flat, being investigated by the police.

If it was as has been reported a party, which at the time was illegal.

Then Johnson has lied to parliament.

He should therefore resign

Whitewavemark2 Mon 31-Jan-22 14:55:20

I think that if Johnson gets off the hook and Tory MPs continue to support him, there is a large constituency in the country that will never forgive the Tory party.

Baggs Mon 31-Jan-22 14:56:25

Wish people would spell her name right: Gray. It's rather rude not to.

I suspect it’s the computer thinking it knows better.

Daisymae Mon 31-Jan-22 14:58:52

It seems that the delays put at the door of the Met for their late investigation will enable Johnson to limp on. This is not a report but a report on the report.

Baggs Mon 31-Jan-22 14:59:01

Yes, could be. Sigh.

Baggs Mon 31-Jan-22 14:59:21

My post was replying to wwm2

“Pivotal sentence in Gray summary: "It is not possible at present to provide a meaningful report
setting out & analysing the extensive factual information I've been able to
gather". This is key. Any attempt to pretend we can put the story behind us is false and self-interested”

Urmstongran Mon 31-Jan-22 15:01:12

You’re right of course Baggs.
My apologies.

Sue Gray.

I think that there will be a huge amount of dissapointment regarding this report from..... Sky, The BBC, C4,

The PM to lose his job over this? ?
No wonder Boris had a spring in his step.

MayBee70 Mon 31-Jan-22 15:06:22

I think what she was able to publish was incriminating though. Plus the confirmation that a party was held in the PM’s flat.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 31-Jan-22 15:06:39

Lied

“Was there a party in Downing Street on the 13th November?"

Boris Johnson: "no"

Police are now investigating a party on that date, in his own flat.”

Resignation due.

Baggs Mon 31-Jan-22 15:09:36

Re disappointment, I think that's already there in bucketloads. People have already decided their level of disgust and don't really need a report to back it up.

MayBee70 Mon 31-Jan-22 15:12:04

Did anyone see the interviews in the working mens club on Sky News. Boris Johnson supporter saying Johnson is doing a wonderful job. When questioned about his views on the report he replied ‘what report’….
