Lord Ashcroft’s book about Carrie ?

According to Ashcroft, Johnson is ‘mesmerised’ by his wife, and is nothing but a ‘puppet’.
Others say it’s misogynistic guff.
I wonder if Carrie is yet another to get the blame for Johnson’s behaviour; and that she’ll be getting the ‘chucked under a bus’ treatment soon.
Another of the narcissist’s victims…

Would you write. book about someone you didn't find interesting, even fascinating? That latter in political terms.

Baggs Sat 05-Feb-22 15:20:56

Quote form the man himself: "I anticipate Carrie Johnson being every bit as intriguing and rewarding a subject. I expect this book to be published early in 2022."

Michael Ashcroft is 75y old. He has written numerous non authorised biographies with amusing titles:

‘Call me Dave’ about David Cameron
‘Jacob’s Ladder’ about Jacob Rees Mogg
and
‘Going for Broke: The Rise of Rishi Sunak’

are 3 examples.

I would be interested to read it, Baggs, and will wait to make judgments. That's why my post with peppered with several question marks.
I just think political wives sometimes can't win. Samantha Cameron for example was initally written about in a knocking down way for not accompanying her husband enough on trips and for not engaging in the political agenda. Given time she grew into the role.

I looked him up when I first saw this thread title Callistemon indeed a nasty piece of work.
I certainly won’t be adding to his bank account, not that I’m particularly interested.

I see that you aren’t ‘particularly interested’ again JaxJacky
We all have far more important things to deal with of course.
Please don’t feel that you need to keep commenting on my threads, I get your drift smile

On a slightly different tack, Has anyone noticed the way Nadine Dorries looks lustfully at the PM, and how she gushes on about “how everyone loves him”? Looks like she wants to sh*g him, though you’ll need to erase that mental image straight away.

I know vegansrock me thinks Dorries has a huge crush on Johnson. Wonder what Carrie thinks of the picture of Dorries looking all doe-eyed? I think Dorries is no longer married - with Johnson's track record, Carrie should be watching him very carefully!

I think I must be missing something here - how was Boris Johnson damaged by his childhood? It seems as though he had all the advantages of an upper middle-class upbringing. ?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 05-Feb-22 15:57:03

His father’s philandering? His mother’s mental breakdown?

Is that a serious question, TiggyW?

In what way does money ensure a stable upbringing?

Nadine Dorries responses in this interview are bizarre.

Australia is opening up again to tourists.
Just saying.

maddyone Sat 05-Feb-22 18:23:38

Will New Zealand follow?

Callistemon21 Sat 05-Feb-22 18:31:09

I think New Zealanders stranded overseas for all this time will be amongst the first, those from Australia allowed first.

Cases have surged in Australia, they have more cases per 100,000 than the UK now but they have a high vaccination rate too.

October is looking good.

I didnt mean to divert the thread, sorry.

It's just that IACGMOOH is seeking experienced recruits ?

Good Lord, October? That’s a long time away.

That's without the need to isolate for 10 days.

Coastpath, thanks for the link. If Nadine Dorries is the go to Johnson defender, he hasn’t long to go before things deteriorate further. Evidently, Nadine D is good friends with Carrie Johnson. Just saying given the title of this thread.
This is the second interview I’ve seen that made me wonder if Ms Dorries enjoys a drink or ten

Boris had an awful childhood, he was neglected and let down by both his parents, no money makes up for that. He seems besotted by Carrie, most wives have some influence with their husbands. As PM he should make his own decisions and be strong enough to tell her that, she’s got an agenda for him, he should have his own. He hasn’t got a good track record with women, once he is married in time his attention is diverted quite easily. Don’t see how this marriage will be any different. It’s l embarrassing how he behaves, how I wish the Prime Ministers and Ministers would have some integrity and set by example, but it’s all got a bit sordid.

This book is just up the Daily Mail’s street, female supporting publication that it is.

Well if their childhood was that terrible not sure how his brothers and sister all seem pretty ok

They actually didn’t have as much money as we probably think.
(Not that it’s relevant to happiness, of course)

Stanley married Charlotte for her family’s money.

If you are interested in Johnson’s background, Tom Bower’s biography is excellent.

(I can’t imagine that Ashcroft’s book is in the same league)

FannyCornforth Sun 06-Feb-22 04:35:37

Allsorts how did Charlotte ‘let down’ Boris?

The Daily Mail has a mainly female readership.
They know their audience
