Phew! That's sorted then. Putin will withdraw.

Farzanah Sat 26-Feb-22 15:10:41

I guess it could have been sarcastic but it’s hard to tell on threads about this couple which are usually crammed with such vitriol. If it was meant ironically I apologise.

I read it as sarcasm confused

... it certainly could be taken that way. But such is the contempt for the couple that it's really hard to know for sure.

I took it at face value (I readily admit I'm not always on the ball).

Anniebach Sat 26-Feb-22 13:59:34

Feel rather sorry for them, they seem to believe they are of importance/ interest on the world stage.

Well, there you go. Another black mark to be added against this evil couple.

... if you think they are evil, you must be lost for words when you have to describe torture and murder...

I assume you're using the word loosely? They are a lot of things - but "evil"... seriously?

And why is standing with the people of Ukraine deserving of a black mark?

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 26-Feb-22 13:54:20

Same as Callistemon. I will readily admit to being dense though.?

We're really not so hot at recognising the old irony, are we? gringringrin

Yes, if we know and understand a poster but a new poster pops up and we are to take what they say at face value until we get used to their style.

Whatever I think of them, and it’s not polite, evil isn’t part of it.

Evil? If that is what you think, you could be on your own

They are not evil.

A bit daft, naive, navel-gazing typical luvvies, but not evil .

Farzanah Sat 26-Feb-22 13:34:59

evil couple good grief. Have they starved, tortured or murdered anyone?

No, Lucca, of course not.
No one said that it was.
No offence was intended

Lucca Sat 26-Feb-22 08:03:39

So my post just a joke ?

Josieann Sat 26-Feb-22 07:52:24

Some posters enjoy the game, some like the show, some are silent onlookers, and some revel in the winning! And some mavericks never stick to the rules!

FannyCornforth Sat 26-Feb-22 07:42:49

It would be a bit like a cross between ‘Just a Minute’ (especially the frequent interruptions and pedantry) and ‘Mornington Crescent’.

Josieann GN is all about the quibbling

In fact, we could have our very own version of Wordle and Nerdle: Quibble smile

grin good idea.

That should be Nowhere as one word!

Josieann Sat 26-Feb-22 07:28:38

Quibbling about the wording
I find that an interesting past time, as a wordle champ! I love, yes love, dissecting words. Also nuances and emotive speech. No where better than GN and H &M to find examples! Each to his own.

I have to agree that it does come across as patronising that anybody let alone leaders would need H&M's encouragement to ' "stand with Ukraine". Millions, no billions, of us understand the situation without needing M&H to spell it out. Maybe it's just unfortunate grammar but they do need to think things through before end
orsing publication to their site.

They certainly do do a lot of "orsing" around and don't care if they cause hurt sometimes.
Or should the or be replaced with an ar?

Sorry Rosie51!

FannyCornforth Sat 26-Feb-22 07:10:40

Lucca you had a right go at me a while back for saying that Harry ‘was none too bright’!
I forgive you though wink

Lucca Sat 26-Feb-22 04:31:48

I am not a fan of m and h as I have said often ( I think he’s none too bright and a bit if a lost soul) but really this thread is just one too many. Quibbling about the wording in order to have another go at them about a small statement of support in their website. Why ? Sorry but I find it really shocking how many times this nastiness can be trotted out. Yes I know I’ll be told not to read the thread …..
not to mention the deceptive reporting “announce” etc.
so many posters say they wish they could not hear any more from the pair and yet are thrilled to leap onto yet another thread about them… and given the subject matter of this one and the suffering in Ukraine … I’m a bit sickened

The correct statement-

‘They stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of
international and humanitarian law and encourage the global
community and it’s leaders to do the same ‘

And what is so bad about that ? Apart from the apostrophe…

and encourage the global community and it’s leaders to do the same

It really is extremely patronising.
