Phew! That's sorted then. Putin will withdraw.

Anniebach Fri 25-Feb-22 10:07:06

Putin will definitely stand down now

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 25-Feb-22 10:07:49

Yep. More effective than all the sanctions and weaponry in the world.

MerylStreep Fri 25-Feb-22 10:15:12

This is where their wokey platitudes will come in to there own.

Anniebach Fri 25-Feb-22 10:16:12

Harry needs another chat with the universe

Callistemon21 Fri 25-Feb-22 10:16:21

Did it even need saying?

They embarrass themselves.

TerriBull Fri 25-Feb-22 10:26:07

Yes I agree Callistemon it hardly needs a public announcement, what they say about anything in the great scheme of things isn't interesting or unique, in that pretty much everyone is on the side of Ukraine. They have such an inflated sense of their own importance forever deflecting from the really important for another "listen to us opportunity"

Jaberwok Fri 25-Feb-22 10:28:58

Wow, that's a relief! Putin will certainly be on the run at that announcement!!

Daisymae Fri 25-Feb-22 10:29:08

It is embarrassing. Anyone would think that they are influencial public figures as opposed to private citizens who want to be left alone.

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Feb-22 10:36:08

Well, it’s provided us with a bit of light relief from the absolute horror of it all.

They really are the gift that keeps on giving!

We salute you Harry and Meghan, or more suitably;
Meghan and Harry ?

trisher Fri 25-Feb-22 10:38:57

It's a small statement on their website and it concerns them and Archewell. It says Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and all of us at Archewell stand with the people of Ukraine against this breach of international and humanitarian law and encourage the global community and its leaders to do the same.
It isn't a press release or anything else. Just a statement about the organisation and its founders.
Interestingly yesterdays Royal family site posted only info about the Cambridges going to the Caribbean and the RF covering for the Queen in the spring. Of course they don't post about such things as wars do they?

Yammy Fri 25-Feb-22 10:44:36

Can they do anything else to get publicity? They must spend their days conjuring things up.
I'm sure Putin is quaking in his shoes maybe they could get him an interview with Oprah Winfrey to give his view and reasons for what he has done.
Your right Fanny they are the gift that keeps on giving a laugh.

Jaberwok Fri 25-Feb-22 10:45:37

You're right, they don't as they don't get involved in politics quite rightly so too. Harry and Meghan never miss a chance to get into the news so this tragedy is another ideal opportunity for these two to shove themselves forward - again.

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Feb-22 10:45:49

For some reason I read it to the sound track rasputin by Boney M blush

Here you go.

I look forward to you all having a go at Miley Cyrus, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kate Beckinsale, Michael Douglas, Jared Leto, Justin Beiber and his wife, Ariana Grande and anybody else who actually thinks its important enough to comment on.

Obviously that list doesn't include St William and St Kate. Or does it...?

If the newspapers pick up a statement made by their charity and run with it it really isn't their fault is it?
As for the RF not getting involved in politics. This the invasion of a country, the bombing of civilians and is creating a huge exodus of refugees. But heaven forbid they should have a view on it!

Esspee Fri 25-Feb-22 10:56:32

Volver, it is not that the issue is important enough to comment on, it’s that these individuals think themselves so important that they have to make a public statement. People like Justin Beiber and Harry.

Zoejory Fri 25-Feb-22 10:59:12

They're just trying to stay relevant. Which is impossible.

Yes, they do.

Why shouldn't they?

Why shouldn't people comment on it?

Nobody, as far as I'm aware has gone on TV and made a speech. Maybe Schwarzenegger. But everybody in the world is entitled to use any means of communication at their disposal to decry what's happening in Ukraine.

Just because you don't think they are important, it doesn't matter. Everybody matters, and anybody and everybody should be making their views on this known.

I mean, Farage did, and who's he? (Incidentally, he blamed the EU. Imagine that)

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 25-Feb-22 11:03:31

I’m sorry. Some of you posting today are being mean. Why do you feel the need to say anything at all? It’s all going Daily Mail again.

Rosie51 Fri 25-Feb-22 11:11:48

I hope that all these rich people publicly expressing their support for Ukraine are privately opening their wallets to donate to relief agencies that will have to help the displaced people. Thoughts are all well and good, but they don't put food in stomachs nor roofs over heads.

volver when defending Meghan and Harry, why do you respond with the St William and St Kate jibe? It really isn't their fault when people criticise the Sussexes. Incidentally her name is Catherine.

FannyCornforth Fri 25-Feb-22 11:12:08

It’s pretty harmless though;
leave us to our two minutes hate!

Seriously?

Are we in an adaption of 1984?

Today, of all days?

You have given the game away FannyCornforth you are supposed to pretend you have higher minded reasons for these threads.
