I have just watched a woman being interviewed and she became quite upset as she attended a stop violence against women demo in Manchester and they were attacked by trans activists.

She explained that this was organised to follow International Woman’s Day and was about stopping violence against all women and girls. They had paint thrown on them and various other attacks. This poor lady was bewildered and upset, understandably, that trans activists could behave this way. I don’t understand it either and it does seem to me that some of these militant trans activists aren’t trans at all; they just hate women. It’s about time we all said enough!

It’s difficult, tickingbird. Well known women who stand up and say enough are cancelled, reviled, attacked, called transphobic and bigots. Less famous women are called bigots and transphobes.
These women were marching in protest against the violence perpetrated against women and girls. I can’t find anything that says they were protesting against violence perpetrated by transwomen.
I don’t know why a man who I believe (but didn’t see) was wearing a dress in a group with others attacking marchers or why trans activists shouting ‘transwomen are women’, were there at all.

Would now be a good time for all transwomen whose existence is being harmed by these activities to make a stand alongside women against the men and ill-intentioned transwomen.
I’ve been told on GN that there are thousands of transwomen and that only a minority are ill-intentioned.
Surely if all transwomen stood up against those who are harming their image instead of leaving it to women and girls it would be a huge move forward in their acceptance and would benefit the women they aspire to be.

Your comments and observations are perfectly valid JaneJudge, and I think that when any sensible poster feels the need to state that they are not trans phobic, when it's obvious that they're not, that demonstrates how ridiculous the whole thing has become.

As has been said, if trans women are concerned about violence against women and they consider themselves to be women, then why on earth do some of them try to silence women on a march about this very subject, by using violence and intimidation?

It makes no sense.

Wow. I’ve just returned to the thread after the OP. What’s been going on? On second thoughts perhaps better not say anything or the thread will be closed down. I have a good idea though.

I hesitated to come onto this thread because I know my very presence tends to cause offence. All violence is dreadful and all violence should be rejected totally.
For anyone looking for a brighter note. The annual IWD march took place in Manchester for the first time for two years. Women marched to the Cathedral chanting and holding banners. www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyIRTq4vWk

That would be a "no" GG13

Iam64 Thu 17-Mar-22 17:49:04

GrannyGravy13, it certainly feels as though women on gransnet are being silenced.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 17-Mar-22 17:47:14

I missed the last round of deletions
Are women on GN now being silenced?
Are we not able to voice valid concerns?

Chewbacca Thu 17-Mar-22 17:47:03

Completely understand what you're saying Galaxy and point taken. I'm looking at it positively; when women start to collectively say that something's very wrong, they invariably have to be silenced. So we must be being heard.

Sorry that sounded as if I am trying to control what people say, I hope people know how much I dislike that, but we lost really intelligent voices on MN.

and now you are left with me grin

Hi all, continued personal attacks will be removed because they break talk guidelines. If the thread continues to be derailed by a spat then we may have to take it down.
Again, if you're concerned about a post or poster please report rather than addressing things directly on the thread.

Can I just say that I know how frustrsting this all is but I really really dont want to lose peoples voices on this, I really value the contributions of people who have a long history of working with those who experience male violence, or understand safeguarding with regard to people with disabilities. I have seen this done a million times before on MN and elsewhere, please watch the number of deletions you receive, its a long game this one.

JaneJudge as usual your remarks are sensible. I would also be worried in your position how changes in the law could impact your child.
