How the tide can turn eh?

That's pretty impressive for a 'Tory' chancellor. Less popular than a useless, kneeling, Labour leader. We He's had some pretty stiff competition from his own party too.

So now Sunak and his family have moved out of the Downing Street flat.

Would the thread police tell me if this is a Daily Mail article I believe, or not. I never know.

If I were Mrs. Sunak I would have insisted that the family got out of that goldfish bowl too.
? ? ? ?

The Daily Mail is reporting that he’ll be gone by next week. Having a Green Card apparently carries a legal undertaking that you intend to make the USA your permanent home and the Americans may stop Sunak from returning to the USA.
I think I’m beginning to feel a tad sorry for the Sunaks.

I'm trying to verify that assertion about green card and the legal undertaking to settle in the US. Nothing I found said anything at all like that. All I could find was that holding a green card for a number of years entitled you to apply for US citizenship. Even obtaining US citizenship carries no obligation to permanently settle in the US.

I suspect this is just a bit of poor research (or no research at all) on the part of the journalist.

Says same in the Times.

Pic of removal vans apparently. I wonder which of his homes he will go to....

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 10:02:28

The one in America?
After all, his intention is the take up permanent residency there. wink

Removal vans in Downing Street... ooh, it's like the day after a General Election! If only.

So Sunak moves out of the flat where security is gold standard to one of his many houses where we assume must now be set up with greater security costing the tax payer how much extra I wonder.

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 12:06:35

An inquiry has begun, to find out where the leaked info came from (or who)

GrannyGravy13 Sun 10-Apr-22 12:19:22

If I was Akshaty Murty I would want my daughters out of Downing Street.

Pammie1 Sun 10-Apr-22 12:30:29

* I think I’m beginning to feel a tad sorry for the Sunaks.*

Why ? He’s the architect of his own doom - found out applying the now familiar Tory standard of ‘one rule for them, one rule for us’.

Smileless2012 Sun 10-Apr-22 16:36:37

That's always been my understanding Maizie. Being a green card holder means you can work and live in the USA, if you choose too, it doesn't mean you have too.

Why is he "the architect of his own doom" Pammiel? He hasn't done anything illegal and neither has his wife. Personal information has been deliberately leaked it would appear, to bring him down.

Callistemon21 Sun 10-Apr-22 16:45:43

Zoejory

I wonder if Rishi might resign.

DH gave him a week.

I wondered if it might be sooner.

It might not be illegal but it’s immoral. It’s another case of don’t do as I do, do as I say.

MerylStreep Sun 10-Apr-22 16:54:40

How could he be negotiating a good trade deal with America when he had one foot in their camp

Casdon Sun 10-Apr-22 16:54:44

Sunak no longer has a green card according to the news, he gave it up last year.
I’ve just read that there’s going to be a Whitehall inquiry into how his wife’s tax status was leaked to the press.

Smileless2012 Sun 10-Apr-22 17:03:00

He isn't telling anyone in the same position as him and his wife, not to do as they have done, so how is this a case of don't do as I do, do as I say?

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 17:30:24

I think he'll resign.
He feels entitled enough to be peeved about all this.

Urmstongran Sun 10-Apr-22 17:36:49

I agree with you MissA. Talk about not reading the room!

MissAdventure Sun 10-Apr-22 17:43:38

I think there will be more to come out, yet.

It's not as if he's hanging on for his pension, is it!

MayBee70 Sun 10-Apr-22 17:47:33

I think he should resign and I’m appalled at the whole thing. Having said that, I think he’s actually a far more decent human being than Johnson ( who should have resigned several times)

MerylStreep Sun 10-Apr-22 18:00:46

The political pundits are putting money on Sajid Javid coming back as chancellor. So who would be health, Hunt ?
