Will you vote Tory next time?

Just wondering if those who voted Conservative at the last General Election will do so next time? I ask the question in light of all the scandals associated with this Government, together with the lack of action taken to mitigate the effects of the ‘cost of living crisis’ (despite France, Spain and several other European countries giving much more help to their people), abandoning the Triple Lock (despite retaining it being in their manifesto).

Sorry that last comment should have quoted Allsorts

Agreed kittylester

I was definitely an any one but Jeremy Corbyn voter.

GillT57 Tue 12-Apr-22 18:10:34

As I don't want life to get harder for people, don't want the NHS to die a death of a thousand cuts, don't want the lives of the disabled to be made worse,etc......then I shall not be voting Tory and seriously am perplexed by anyone voting to make life worse for other people

VioletSky Tue 12-Apr-22 18:13:03

I don't understand why there is so much animosity towards labour over trans issues when all the changes to acts and legislation came in under tory leadership, starting with Theresa May.

It seems wrong to go against laboutr for simply trying to respect the changes made by the Tories

It definitely doesn't seem like enough of a reason not to vote for them at all in all honesty when there are so many more pressing issues than people's personal opinions about gender

Does anyone who wouldn't vote for them now usually vote for them?

You are so right Luckygirl

But how do we de-program the believers in this Tory dogma?

In a country where more than 80% of the newspaper readership is in the habit of reading the poisonous right wing propaganda which suits the agenda of the billionaire tax dodging newspaper proprietors, how do we ever help their readers to question their brainwashing and look for the truth?

So 80% of the population are wrong and you are right?

No one has answered my point that we could get a Corbyn clone - that's why lots of us vote Tory imo.

80% of the readers of the national newspapers are told to vote Tory and the majority of these do as instructed.

They are not 80% of the population .

Tory voters are in the minority.

Most UK citizens do not support the corrupt and incompetent Tory Party.

We need wholesale constitutional reform for the UK to become a true democracy where no government can impose its policies on the population on the basis of support from a minority of voters.

We are one of only two European countries which still elects its government by First Past The Post.

The other one is Belarus.

Well, you haven't answered my question about what scares you about the Labour party.

It can't be something as inconsequential as the very unlikely possibility of another Corbyn surely?

What is wrong with their policies and ethos?

Audi10 Tue 12-Apr-22 18:22:03

No way Jose!

Maya1 Tue 12-Apr-22 18:31:21

Never have and never will. Not that it will make much difference here where l live as it is a Conservative strong hold here in Cambs.
One friend who voted tory will now vote lib dem. All other friends are left wing as myself.
I just don't believe that the Conservative party care about the general public as a whole. Its all lip service and pretence.

kittylester Tue 12-Apr-22 18:31:56

Their policies are Labour policies.

And why on earth would you think another Corbyn like leader is inconsequential? I consider it very scary! And most centre right people would do too.

Pammie1 Tue 12-Apr-22 18:36:23

Absolutely not, never have, never will. I’m of the mindset that the only way to get the Tories out is to vote Labour. They’re far from perfect but could they be any worse ?

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 12-Apr-22 18:41:32

I'd rather lose a finger

Those of us who, like me have several fingers that don't work would find that pretty offensive. I have four working fingers. Two on each hand. It wasn't always thus and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

VioletSky Tue 12-Apr-22 18:48:53

Sorry to hear that germanshepherdsmum

Oldbat1 Tue 12-Apr-22 18:57:25

No way will I ever vote Tory.

Zuki Tue 12-Apr-22 18:58:06

Absolutely will vote conservative Claiming people all
followed the rules is ridiculous They are going to pay fines like anyone else They seem like real people unlike Starmer who doesn't
have much to say .Wish that Labour would stop saying they are speaking for the public they aren't and I'm someone with low income and l I've i guess a working class life

Blondiescot Tue 12-Apr-22 19:01:16

'Real people'? Do me a favour - the average Tory MP doesn't have a clue how real people in this country are struggling.

varian Tue 12-Apr-22 19:02:29

Oh dear ^Zuki

I am puzzled as to why you would ever support this Tory government.

You must know that the aim of the Tory Party oids to make the rich richer, so why would you support them?

I am genuinely interested to know.

Chewbacca Tue 12-Apr-22 19:09:51

No idea, at this point in time, who I'd vote for. I loathe and detest what BoJo and his cronies have done to the country but I'm reluctant to vote for Starmer and his pals who are utterly confused about what 50% of the population is and who amongst them has a cervix. The Greens are similarly afflicted. Politically homeless at the moment.

What don't you like about Labour policies? Just saying 'Labour policies' tells us nothing at all. We don't even know if your idea of 'Labour policies' is actually the same as actual Labour policies.

I think it highly unlikely that another far left winger would be voted to the leadership.

Having said that, I found nothing at all frightening in Labour's manifesto in 2019.

Mollygo Tue 12-Apr-22 19:10:05

If I voted for the party who do most to help in our area, I’d vote Tory. When Labour were in charge, promises were plentiful but unfulfilled and the the potholes that damaged my car remained in the same state throughout their reign.
When it comes to the GE I’ll look at the election promises, ask questions of the endless stream of party workers who knock on my door and then vote.
Whilst I think Tory lies have been well revealed, I don’t think the other parties are or have been any more honest, particularly Tony Blair -who was another politician who knows how to work the system for his own benefit, which leaves me with a problem.

Zuki Tue 12-Apr-22 19:10:54

I I'm ina Labour controlled town and have seen nothing
in the way Labour are here that has ever made me want to vote Labour Out No never even turns up in Parliament

Casdon Tue 12-Apr-22 19:11:00

The big difference is that the Prime Minister knowingly lied to parliament and to the whole country Zuki. There is absolutely no excuse. That is unforgivable.

Zuki Tue 12-Apr-22 19:11:40

Should say our mp

Zuki Tue 12-Apr-22 19:14:28

Sorry but I think he can handle big issues
like the pandemic and war.I don't see Labour doing that

varian Tue 12-Apr-22 19:29:53

He did a good job of handling covid contracts to Tory chums who turned out to be hopeless at producing what we needed.

Billions of taxpayers money went to fraudsters.

It is hard to imagine any other PM making a worse mess of managing the country during a pandemic.

varian Tue 12-Apr-22 19:32:01

Boris Johnson must go, or our entire system of Government is threatened
