So ... Nicola Sturgeon was reported to Police Scotland on Sunday for breaking her own mask laws, a breach that could result in a £60 fine, reduced to £30 if paid within 28 days.

Only hours before Saturday's visit to the barber shop in East Kilbride, the SNP issued a press release in which she urged Scots to vote for her party on May 5 "if you are as outraged as I am about the Prime Minister's contempt for the law."

Oh dear.
While she too be asked to resign?

I don’t envy the heckling Ian Blackford from Skye will be subjected to when he stands up n the HoC.

Just popping in to say that the Chief Mammy thing is a daft (disingenuous? ) interpretation of a joke she made in 2018. And kind of speaks to TopsyIrene06's question.

And those 175 spin doctors? This is what they do: The Scottish Government has a central Communications Division with specialised staff who deliver the following functions; frontline communication staff/press officers, public information and behaviour change marketing campaigns, strategy & behavioural insight, Brand Scotland brand marketing (cross organisational partnership), cross government strategic communications, digital platforms (including gov.scot) and social content function, media monitoring, internal organisation engagement and business administration management.

Right, sorry, carry on. Interested to see what else comes up.

Thanks Aveline for that. I am also dissatisfied with our government up here in Scotland. I'm sure you could have gone on at great length as the words "shocking judgement" relates to so many issues here. One of the worrying ones for me is giving sixteen year olds the vote and also the right to stand for election and at the same time about to treat 25yr old offenders as juveniles when it comes to sentencing. We all understood when she lowered the voting age that it was a vote for independence inducement but where's the reasoning with the sentencing plans?

TopsyIrene06 Mon 18-Apr-22 17:23:26

Aveline. I'm not talking about the SNP membership as a whole. I need to know why NS herself is disliked so much by some on here. Surely she can't do all the things you state without someone in her government opposing them? Why do they not try to get rid of her? Genuine request for an answer please.

SNP members have to toe the line? You mean the same line that the Westminster cabinet all follow like sheep when BJ forgets to tell the truth?

I hadn't realised Bank holiday barrel scraping was so popular in Spain

TopsyIrene06 Mon 18-Apr-22 17:29:15

Thanks Casdon. Got it.

Mamie Mon 18-Apr-22 17:37:50

I simply cannot get into the mindset of people who think that forgetting to wear a mask for a few minutes is in the same league as condoning (and attending) multiple parties when the rules did not allow people to be with their loved ones at the time of bereavement and mourning.
It is beyond belief.

Parsley3 Mon 18-Apr-22 17:42:25

Any masks visible in the partygate photos?

JaneJudge Mon 18-Apr-22 17:44:14

Oh Mamie, he just went out into his garden and found lots of people there and oh dear he drank their wine and inhaled their cheese. How could the poor bugger possibly know it was against the rules? how could he possibly know it was a party?
and all the time his support worker was there with their newborn baby

I truly think Urmstongran would try and knit fog if she thought it would make her view of politics seem realistic. It wouldn't and this doesn't.

JaneJudge Mon 18-Apr-22 17:56:41

Maybe she could needle felt a fog? it would take a while and would at least be pretty

DaisyAnne Mon 18-Apr-22 18:01:06

Nicola is a strong intelligent honest woman who speaks her mind. I think that is what it is.
We in Scotland know what she stands for and you’re either for it or against it but you know what her vision is for our land. In time The ballet box is where it will be resolved.

If she had the same history as our prime minister can you imagine the abuse she’d get thrown at her.

I was on the fence regarding independence but watching what is happening in Westminster is stomach churning. This prime minister was voted in by the people …. not the Scottish people ….in spite of his history that says it all for me I’m afraid.

DaisyAnne Mon 18-Apr-22 18:12:39

Well that's over then. The police spoke to her and they are not doing anything more.

Urmstongran Mon 18-Apr-22 18:17:27

Ah, Loving the way the Get Boris brigade are desperately trying to back peddle and explain how it is the worst thing in the world when a politician they hate breaks their own rules but it is quite all right when a politician they like does it.

Mamie Mon 18-Apr-22 18:21:52

No Ug, it is about the gravity of the crime. Do you not understand the difference?

Who has done that Urmstongran?

Urmstongran Mon 18-Apr-22 18:32:15

Boris got a FPN. Nicola ... well no one who isn’t an SNP fan isn’t one bit surprised that Police Scotland didn’t issue one.

My stepfather when we chatted today just said “just incompetent. Running my country into the ground”.

I think he meant the whole shebang. The ferries. The missing £600k (still??) the A&E waiting times, the shocking tally of drug deaths ...

Coastpath Mon 18-Apr-22 18:33:57

If we're trying to compare like with like we should be looking at how many times Boris went without a mask and how many parties Nicola has attended. How does that stack up Urmstongran?

Kim19 Mon 18-Apr-22 18:34:45

I'm no lover of NS but I do sympathise a little in this case. Cannot tell you the number of times I've been just about to walk into a supermarket without a mask on and realised the omission. And that's after two years!

Coastpath Mon 18-Apr-22 18:44:10

Urmstongran can I just add that all these. 'gangs', 'mobs' and 'brigades' you envision don't exist. We are all individuals with our own views and your playground gang fantasies belittle the opinions of others and prohibit meaningful debate.

Oldbat1 Mon 18-Apr-22 18:46:41

No comparison with Johnson.

Urmstongran Mon 18-Apr-22 18:51:59

Okay. I apologise and will tone down my rhetoric.

That’s the intention I think Coastpath, when you’re backed into a corner the only option is to lash out indiscriminately.

I have far more respect for those who are holding their hands up and saying they have lost faith in this government because of their behaviour, but remain Tory and want to find an alternative leader and team with integrity, because that position demonstrates their own integrity too.

TopsyIrene06 Mon 18-Apr-22 19:09:19

Thought so Granniesunite

Kim19 I'm the same. It's only when I see someone else in a mask and then I think bum and start scrabbling in my bag for my mask. Minds on other things I think.
